  4. The Corona Virus Thread

If the numbers hold true, by the end of the day, we are going to surpass the 1 million mark in deaths from the pandemic in the US. Due to the absence of uniform tracking data, the exact moment will be unknown, and it'll be little more than a sidebar in the news cycle more concerned with other things to keep the focus off this unimaginable number of people that have succumbed to a preventable disease. When I think of all that we've lost as a country in singular and the world in plural, in terms of the potential breakthroughs and developments from people around the globe that will never come to pass, it's nothing less than catastrophic. https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/us/
  5. Who likes books ?

While I do read aviation books, (they're about 1/4 of my total collection of 5K+ not including Digital) my tastes also include History, SF & Fantasy. If my collection says anything about me, it's that I have a faith in the future, but am not adverse to learning lessons of the past.
  6. The Corona Virus Thread

Just in case everyone has forgotten the pandemic is still running rampant in the world, the milestone of 6 million dead worldwide was passed today, with the last million being tallied in the last 4 months by Johns Hopkins University. Here in the States, the estimates are that we'll surpass the 1 million dead mark in the very near future. For the record, and to put this in context, that's more than the population of these states: Wyoming (Population: 581,075) Vermont (Population: 623,251) Alaska (Population: 724,357) North Dakota (Population: 770,026) South Dakota (Population: 896,581) Delaware (Population: 990,334) 2022 World Population by Country (worldpopulationreview.com) In numbers close to home, that is the death of 2.55 times the entire population of where I live. And of course, now that things are "opening up" there are less people interested in getting vaccinated. Again, call me a pessimist, but with the relaxing of all official safeguards, and the propensity for people to forget/ignore/refuse to acknowledge the danger of something that's not "in their face", and people just want to "move on", I fear another deadlier strain is in the offing.
  7. High Speed gun kill om a Target of Opportunity
  8. Thunder Thursday

Okay, so now I'm feeling it. This Thundechief is the Cats Meow for dropping sh*t and hauling a$$ outta the drop zone............................. Until you forget just how big the weapon is. But it sure is pretty to look at. Tanks off, let's go downhill Now, to any sane person, this scene right here should have been a clue as to the outcome of what I'm about to do. Obviously, sanity is not a strong family trait.......... The attempted roll-out, flash, shockwave, "Oh Sh*t", and bail-out were almost simultaneous........Next time, "must go faster"
  9. Thunder Thursday

Now that I remembered what day it is....I'd gone after this target with a B-52 flight and got shot down. Tried it with F-100's and just couldn't get past all the SAMS and fighters that seem to love that area. So today was the F-105's turn, and it was a nice clear morning to go and kill this Communications Facility. At about 25 miles, my wingman started yelling about SAM Launches, "enemy planes were detected in my area" and since between the two of us we had exactly 0 AA missiles, I'd had about enough of that nonsense, and this was close enough. About a minute later, I cut of communications to a significant portion of the country, ended the SAM & Mig threat, and other than some temporary flash blindness, had an uneventful ride home.
  10. Who said that you couldn't do much damage with a Starfighter? Especially to a fuel depot!!!!!!!!
  11. The result of the "Negative, we have no other assets available" response when you're on the bomb run and a LOT of bad guys show up. The Hound Dogs were for clearing a path on the way out.
  12. Even though they were trying to wax me over Iraq, this was a fantastic scene...
  13. the future is coming. This is just so damn nifty !!

Interesting concept... With sufficient power & range, I can see where it would make a great sniper rifle.
  14. Sent you the links to the D/L location Still enjoying my Med Cruise....
  15. Off to take photos over Libya Coasted in at 437 feet, thinking I was being slick. The terrain dipped at one point and I was above 500 feet, so almost instantly the SAM's went live and started firing. The ships are firing at a Libyan that crossed into their engagement range.
