Sams are such a PITA..........Especially when they wait until you commit...and then fire. Makes it that much sweeter when you beat one........Or they lock on someone else 15's at Hi Altitude Tomcat stalking some unsuspecting targets.... -

27 Sams fired at us...........and missed 6 AA missiles fired.....and missed Sent the J-Stars home as soon as we got the MC call, and took the AWACS low and fast to give the Migs something to chase for the run home. Who knew an E-3 could run so well at low level flying???? 1 MiG-23ML(NK)wiped off on a mountainside trying a high-speed gun pass. The other one fell to a flight of F-104s in the area, and I ran underneath. After that, a nice leisurely cruise back home. -

For so many of us during the Bad Old Days of the Cold War (and afterward), this was the most welcome sight of any TDY. The Freedom Bird....our ride home. -

I was on my way home after a SAM Hunt, and ran into some trucks............ There's Nike's in the air......and not the shoes. -
Depends on where I'm going, and how far I have to go........ Primarily I listen to Jazz or New Age when I drive, and it's not uncommon for me to roll with The Rippingtons in the CD player. Rainy days are for Nelson Rangell or Earl Klugh, and hot days with the top open are for Dancing Fantasy. Long runs down the highway rate Bon Jovi and Jackson Browne, while night drives are for Torquato Mariano. And for flying WO(X), as crazy as it sounds, my favorite missions (Sam Hunts) are done to "Don't Fear the Reaper" by BOC.
