Wow. I have to admit that I was never big on flying on the CE terrain. I'm typically a USN/USMC flyer and Europe didn't have any carrier action for me. But this terrain is just beautiful! As for accuracy, I'll have to take the words of folks in the know. I have never had the fortune of going to Europe, but this terrain sure looks good! Blasting over it at 200 feet in a Tornado bound to drop some bridges is quite the pleasure! This will be on my frequent flight list from now on.

Hey, guys. I'm back to skinning again, working on VF-213 as they appeared in 2001, 2003, and 2005 deployments. This one is taking me a little bit because I am remapping the decals. You can see why below, showing the 2001 OEF and 2003 OIF deployment skins. Notice the paint scheme for AJ104 is very different from the others, more like the standard 3-tone TPS than the Black Lions' unique paint. I am trying to set up a decal map for the entire aircraft, not just to have custom markings but to allow for completely different paint jobs in the same squadron. Once I get this tackled, I should be able to bring you VF-213's final deployment with all 11 aircraft, including the retro bird. Now, credit where credit is due, this idea is NOT original. Someone else came up with decal-only skins it a year or so ago. For the life of me, I can't remember who it was and I can't find the thread. So whoever you are, it was an awesome idea and I'm taking pains to follow up.

Strike Fighters 2 Screenshots
Swordsman422 replied to Dave's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Screen Shots
New WIP. Jolly Rogers ultra-low viz 1998-2001. Coming when I finally upload VF-102 and the Top Gun skins. I cannot stop praising the SARCASM mod. Those clouds are awesome. -
It would be nice if a LOT of things in the SF series worked as reality or even as programmed in the .ini. FACs, Navy/Marine Loose Deuce vs. USAF Fluid Four, MiGs doing boom-and-zoom instead of hanging around and fighting, carrier group line periods, tour dates, airwings changing carriers, ROE restrictions, DIANE, LORAN, TACAN, dates of permissability for targets, AEW and EW allowable in campaigns structured for pre-NA. The list goes on. We have to bend because it isn't perfect and work within the limits of the engine. Eburger, I am sure that is exactly what's happened. I ran into this some time ago and ultimately realized that the deployment period for my carrier was running out before I had completed the number of missions. I just made adjustments. BTW, what you have done with Rolling Thunder is pretty awesome, sir. It is one of my favorites to fly.

Does anyone know whether the tours entries work for the player? Stingray I would imagine that this is a bug never resolved. If a player is with a squadron that has multiple tour dates, there should just ideally be a large date jump between the last mission of the first tour and the first mission of the next period. Best thing for you to do now is to extend the retire date for the carrier and air wing past your estimated end point. So lets say you are flying 1 mission every 2 days for 50 missions, that's 100 days, plus a further 20 or so to add to the line period for the CVW and carrier.

Here is a corollary question (apologies for a hijack): Is there any way to represent an insurgency? The only way I can think of is to have enemy ground units go active for like a week at a time and then "retire." But I don't know if friendly ground units will move to attack unoccupied nodes or if they will stop at the border. I'd really like to have CAS missions in the Vietnam campaigns without major invasions.

Make use of TW A-6 Cockpit
Swordsman422 replied to orsin's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
That would be the preferred route for many, but I think there was some issue with using F-14_avionics.dll in an attack cockpit. Plus the screen didn't fit just right and there were some anomalies in the corners. I could be way off, though. I think DA took a crack at it. He might know.
