  1. while looking for something else yesterday, I came across this: a US Navy book about British "Explosive Ordanance" (bombs and rockets), dated 1946. Thought you all could use it. Or at the very least, add it to your reference libraries! enjoy!
  2. we desperately NEED a new Firefly ... that one of Simon's is quite dated. With folding wings a must! (for deck parking, doncha know!)
  3. this mod does NOT come with the aircraft lods, as it references the SF2:NA EA-6, so one MUST have SF2:NA as part of their merged install. This is clearly stated in the readme
  4. Soaking up the sun....

wow! cool! I didn't think any were preserved!!
  5. to side track the thread a bit, thank you for posting that link, I've NEVER seen the live action film. I must find an English version, even with subtitles! ------- I was just reading about Beehive's last night. maybe something like the cluster bomb effect? but how to do the projectiles?
  6. good catch Heck, I'd forgotten that FE2 is just like SF2 in that regard. ---- NMac: is the mods folder showing up? Does the (new) game even start/work? Do any of the add on aircraft for Galacia show up, even on the stock maps?
  7. I don't see the Wave Motion Energy Gun ??? ------- man, that is fracking AWESOME!! I hope somebody takes it, and brings it all the home.
  8. Falco!

I think it look good. the cropped visibility may just be a function of the having those upper wings in the way. The same issue as the SF2 versions!
  9. the instructions for FE2 are the same as SF2 (and covered in the SF2 Knowledge Base) Basicly: copy/paste the FE2.exe "up and back" to your C:\Program Files (x86)\ThirdWire\First Eagles 2 It should read as "FirstEagles2 -copy.exe" Rename this "new" exe to whatever you like, in this case I'd use FE2-Galicia.exe Create new shortcut on desktop, or a Games folder (I use a games folder -- keeps things nice a clean on the desktop), pointing to the newly renamed exe. Run the exe, and allow it to create the mods folder. The new mods folder should have the same name as the exe (FE2-Galicia). Go through the set ups, setting the graphics, controls, etc, and start a mission with any aircraft. Fly for a minute or so. Exit the game. Again, double check the location of the mods folder after exiting (I'm going to assume -oh! that word!!- that Win8 works like Win7, and the mods folder will be in the C:\Users\-**yourname**-\Saved Games folder) Start installing mods (I'd start with the terrain first, just to make sure it shows on the drop down. that should pretty much do it
  10. ok! I'd wondered!! the tail cones DO look more modern than the ww2 versions

If you don't have it, you can get the aircraft at the following URL: http://combatace.com/files/file/14309-sf2-douglas-c-54-skymaster-by-veltro2k/ The skin represents the (fictional) Trans-Orient Pacific Airlines as seen in the movie "The High and The Mighty". Although the colors are correct for the real world company. The registration numbers ARE 100% historicaly correct for the aircraft depicted, although used by Transocean Airlines (whose aircraft were used for the film, of course, repainted to the TOPAC "brand"), based out of Oakland CA in the late 1940s through the late 1960s. They used up to 68 DC-4 & ex-USA(A)F C-54s for passanger and cargo transport, worldwide. The skin is in jpg format. All markings are decals, and decal randomization is TRUE. 13. File Name: SF2 USAF 1950s & Later C-47 Skytrain Skin Pack File Submitter: Wrench File Submitted: 15 June 2015 File Category: Other SF2 USAF 1950s & Later C-47 Skytrain Skin Pack 6/10/2015 = For SF2 (Full 5 Merged RECCOMENDED, PLUS SF2I EXPANSION SET 1 ) = **You =MUST= have SF2 Expansion Pack 1 to have access to the stock 3W C-47!!!** Reskins of the stock 3W C-47 skytrain, representing USAF aircraft of the 1950s, and from the mid-50s thru the 1970s. This package contains 2 skins (names reflect the actual folder names. Displayed names may/will be different): USAF Arctic 1: (displays as same) As based at Elmendorf AFB, Alaska, and seen in many "points North". The aircraft carries the standard Alaska Air Command early 50s style of red tail and outer wings; and also has the Air Rescue Service yellow band and fuselage placard, with the AAC badge on the tail. Research has indicated either the 17th or 54th Troop Carrier Squadrons (which were based at Elmendorf in the early 1950s). This skin is also representative of the Skytrain as seen in the movie "The Thing from Another World (1951)". That aircraft is represented, including it's nose art. See Notes for more details on "Tropical Tilly". USAF NM 2: (displays as USAF NM/White (Late) ) This skin uses the SF2 date switch, and will turn on in 1955. Standard post-1955, natural metal with heat refelctive white painted upper cabin (fuselage). Carries no unit or numbered AF badges, not even the MATS badge. Serial numbers carry the "0" (zero) prefix, designating aircraft 10 or more years of age. All markings are decals, and decal randomization is TRUE. While serial numbers are correct for the aircraft depicted, they should be considered 'generic' in nature, as they represent no specific aircraft or unit. 18 serial number decals are provided for each aircraft. Skins remain in bmp format (I was lazy!) Also included are the cockpit (for those that haven't made it flyable yet) updated/revamped data, avionics, userlist inis, plus pilot figures and engine sound. I've also given you my (patent-pending) "One Click Restore" main ini. There are no hangar or loading screens for either of these 2 skins (I lied -- there's one. You'll see it!). As always, unzip this to a temp folder or your desktop, and you'll have access to the rest of the readme for the install instructions. Happy Landings! 16. you're going to need "specials" for that airfield base tiles ... otherwise trees will growing up the middle of the runway and ramps. what is that, an SG50? If so, there's one you can modify in my WW2 Formosa terrain. For Runways 1, 5, and 6 you might need to make two 3ways (sea-airfield-grass, sea-grass-airfield) or if it's 2 SG50s back to back, the 'inner' edges open to each other The one below, can fit a runway 3. As you can see, it has 'fields' on the eastern edge; easily clone stamped out, so if you have to SG50s back to back across the peninsula, you should be able to fit a R 1/5/6 in there. If not, make a new "grass AB tile" and Grass to AB transitiions Nothing to it! forgot to add, if you're going to be working on Formosa, you'll probably want to use the specials I built for some of the harbors. There's also some very cool specials I built for Vietnam, on the as yet uncompleted CBI map for Hanoi and Haiphong

This is a nationalized version of the aircrft for IDF-only use, and is designed for use only in SF2:I. The aircraft carries the markings of No. 131 "Yellow Birds" squadron. All markings are decals, and decal randomization is TRUE. Serial & Modex numbers are 100% historically correct. There are no Hangar or Loading screens, but all sounds and pilot figures are provided. SF2 IDFAF C-47 Skytrain Pak 6/10/2016 = For SF2:I (Full 5 Merged RECCOMENDED ) = **You =MUST= have SF2I Expansion Pack 1 to have access to the stock 3W C-47!!!.** Some small modifications, reskining/decaling of the stock 3rd Wire C-47 Skytrain/Dakota transport aircrft, as used by the Israeli Defense Force. Be advised, THIS mod is designed for use -ONLY- in your SF2:I mod's folder. The package contains 2 skins for No. 103 "Flying Elephants" squadron Skytrains: Brown/Blue camo (mid 1950s thru 1969) Late 3 Tone Camo (1969-2001) Skins are in original bmp format. The SF2 "date switch" is used, and the game will automatically switch over to the late 3-tone in 1969. The Brown/Blue will start in 1955, although research is not conslusive as to exactly when. For years predating that, they seem be in an OD/Grey type of paint job (not the NM finish the Game Engine ™ uses). All markings are decals, and decal randomization is TRUE. Serial & Modex numbers are 100% historically correct. Both skins use the same 'pool' of number decals. There are no Hangar or Loading screens, but all sounds and pilot figures are provided. Also included are the cockpit (for those that haven't made it flyable yet) updated/revamped data, avionics, and userlist inis. I've also given you my (patent-pending) "One Click Restore" main ini.
