  1. a terrain object or a TOD object??? makes a difference
  2. fubar and I talked about it yesterday on the phone; it was most likely "attached" to his aircraft carrier (you know, that Nimitz class he had, that went through 8 years of betas and was never finished? Properly).
  3. very interestering. 'hand loaded radar!!' if that version has NO radar at all, one will also still need to delete the pointers for the avinoncs ini and avionics dll in the main ini
  4. <cough> Mue's lod viewer tool <cough> and 'remove component statements ' in the data ini Component[0**]=Hide1 [Hide1] ParentComponentName= ModelNodeName= DestroyedNodeName= ShowFromCockpit=FALSE HasAeroCoefficients=FALSE just fill in the blanks

Provisions have been allowed for use of a drop tank, but all research indicates the AVG never used (or had!) them. Also, no bombs are carried. Any ground attacking will be 'guns only'. The canopy operates with the Standard Animation Keystroke, Shift/0. As Raven't Tomahawk is considered a beta, due to the cockpit being unfinished, this mod uses one of Stary's 'Generic Pits'. Operational service dates for the aircraft have been limited to the actual spread; 12/21/41 - 7/4/42. To that end, Userlist.ini was created to help 'lock them in'. (it is known however, that some of the AVG Tomahawks DID operate with the newly formed 23rd FG, when taken under USAAF control). When in game you'll see Tomahawk AVG (Raven) on the aircraft selection drop down. This will diferentitate it from the original, based on Wolf's Tomahawk. As always, fairly easy to follow, highly detailed install instructions are included. So, please read them =BEFORE= installing, but (duh!) after unzipping. Also, give the "Notes" section a read too. 7. exactly the points I was making, in showing those screenies. If SZ made one, it's no longer in our downloads section -- I went looking for it, and didn't find it.
  8. It can, mostly, be done, as show below. as a 'stand in' aircraft, one could be "acceptable". However... look at image 2
  9. thought I'd mentioned the 'non moving dish' in the readme for the Hawkeye mod I did 3-4 years ago, when NA came out. Was the first thing I tried, and all I got it to do was flip around. So, as said above, you can't make it rotate as to fake piloting something in ... didn't know you could make one of them rotate. Via a 'fake engine', maybe? as to the Greyhound, that's DAT. the only thing here, is a skin for it by pappychksix. Just like the Tracker and Tracer, all DAT even removing the dish from the NA Hawkeye doesn't really work, and the C-2 has a (slightly) different body shape. It could be done, but you'd have to look at it with one eye close, the other squinting, and in very bad light.

File Name: SF2 WW2 PTO P-40B/C Tomahawk (USAAC) Pack File Submitter: Wrench File Submitted: 02 May 2015 File Category: P-40 SF2 WW2 PTO P-40B/C Tomahawk (USAAC) Pack 5/01/2015 -- Something for the WW2 PTO players -- = For SF2 ONLY, Full-5 Merged (Reccomended/Preferred) = *Note: this mod is most likely =NOT= usable in 1stGen installs at any patch level. This may be due to the use of a 'late model' cockpit.* **Notex2: this mod is designed for use ONLY in a PTO-Centric mods folder** This package contains a SF2 version of Raven's P-40B/C Tomahawk, in use by the USAAC just before, and during, the opening months of The Pacific War. While considered a 'beta', the aircraft is 100% all there. As I understood it, the beta tag is ONLY because the cockpit was never finished. In that light, I've substituted one of Stary's Generic Cockpits ™. The skins included are: 47th PS, 15th PG, Bellows Field, Hawaii, December 1941 "Pearl Harbor Defender" 20th PS, 24th PG, Phillipines, December 1941 DOD41 - representative of aircraft from August to November 1941 Skins maps remain in their bmp format. The SF2 'date switch' is NOT used on any of these skins. All markings are decals, and Decal Randomization is TRUE. The Hangar screen is a revamped Sf2 version of my original "AvArt". All sounds, drop tank and pilot figure are included. Guns are not, as they're stock items. Service dates are rounded to "whole months". The canopy operates with the Standard Animation Keystroke, Shift/0. Be advised, this aircraft has a short service life, as the E models were already in service when the US entered the war. When in-game, you'll see P-40B/C Tomahawk (Raven) On the aircraft selection drop-down. This will diferentiate it from Wolf's P-40B/C mod. 11. there no rush man!! this one will do fine until you finish that other MAJOR project!!!
  12. That completely negates the work we modders do, in making packages a simple 'drag and drop' into the /Objects folder. Next time, try installing things the way they're set up. We (all the mainstream modders) don't do things like some other people, where we "forget" to put things in the proper folder order/tree. I do think I know WHY it turned black; could have been something with the skin bmps (were actually from the E, not the B). Black is what the LOD material looks like in SF2. If you'd seen that in 1stGens, it would have been white. IIRC, it may have something to do with the DX10 shaders, but ??? However, even renaming the decals ini, I was unable to duplicate it I've just updated the package with the corrected ejection positions, and new skins, with correct skin maps
  13. gun fix... will be in the next 2 Tomahawk releases and a gotta ask the question: why the hell would you NOT use the decals??? I'm completely at a loss as to that....
  14. that's a texture issue, (usually). Strange that you'd install it with out decals... the package is automaticaly set up correctly; no screwing around with having to move multiple folders (unless I missed by one level?) odd, it never showed for me. running out of texture memory? but, having decals uses MORE memory ... well, hell. chalk it up to 'generic SF2 strangeness. Raven has done a masterfull job on ALL the P-40s. Makes all other previous versions look like crap. still to come: AVG (with baltika's 99.9% historical decals) MTO RAF Tomahawks

  16. components, in the data ini. the simple 'remove' trick
  17. would make an outstanding ww2 map as well, filling in a large gap in SWP and as we all know, porting to sf2 takes less than 2 minutes...(3, if one generates the _water.bmp)
  18. ok, once again let us discuss the "merge". (isn't there a thread in the Knowledge Base explaining this??) by default every single one of the SF2 series is automatically merged with each other upon installation. all one needs to do is LOOK at your core files directory --- all 5 (or 7 if you create mods folders from the 2 official expansion packs), use all the same files, with the exception of their executables. It is these very exes that create the separate "user accessable mods folders". It is these mods folders that are, in reality separate games; even though they all use the very same dlls, cat files, and everything else. These seperate mods folders allow the End User ™ to customize each and every game to their liking.... you want to fly during the War for Independence in 1948? Use SF2:I and add the various and sundry bit to that game only you want to have the full Vietnam experience, going back to the French? Use SF2:V, and add all the bits. you want to experience the Cold War gone hot in Western Europe? Use SF2:E. and so on... Having individual mods folder helps prevent one getting too clogged* up with the myriad of things available; you can tailor you individual gaming experience to YOUR liking. As to NA, well .... although some WILL argue and belabor the point, the NA coding (while having it's own share of flaws) really DOES bring the necessary data for proper carrier and naval battle groups. This code IS added, apparently, to all other exes and game engine files when NA is installed (although like I said, some "oddities" will crop up, but that's not the point here). Even now, a huge number of mods REQUIRE having NA as part of the base game installs. We waited (nearly) 10 years for proper carrier usage, and while not nearly perfect, it does work (if the terrain is built correctly) So to answer the basic question; yes separate mods folders for the individual 'theatres' as required. *example: my plane-jane SF2 (desert terrain) has 708 aircraft alone -not counting any of the other objects; just aircraft-, and that's not all that's available, either.
  19. that would be DEEPLY appreciated by us WW2 modders (and users too!!). thank you! TK gave us the M-57 250#, and the M-64 500# in expansion pack 1 (??) but neglected the 1000#

SF2 RAF Washington B.1 (B-29A) Pack 4/26/2015 = For SF2, Full-5 Merged (Reccomended/Preferred) = *Note: This mod will =NOT= work in SF/Wo* 1stGen game installs at any patch level, due to the extensive modifications made to fit them into the SF2 environment. End Users that attempt it, do so at their own risk. A Full 5 Merged install is reccomened at the LATEST patch level.* This mod represents B-29 Superfortress bombers used by the RAF in the early 1950s. This is a "country specific" mod, =ONLY= designed for Royal Air Force usage. It is the complete aircraft, including a 'new(ish)' cockpit. All items, excepting weapons are included. This is a complete revamp of the now no longer available 1st Gen mod by Bob "howling1" Hauser. This mod is dedicated to his memory, both as a Person, and a Modder. The skin herein represents Washingtons from No 44 "Rhodesia" Squadron All markings are decals. Serial numbers, while correct for this model, are to be considered generic in nature. Decal randomization is TRUE. The only 'nose art' is the squadron badge (also a decal!). Other squadron can easily be done by creating a new squadron letters decal. (and nose badge, of course). The aircraft carries standard USAAF/USAF WW2 era bombs. The Tallboy stations remain active. When in game you'll see Washington B.1 (B-29A) on the aircraft selection drop down. As always, fairly easy to follow, yet detailed install instructions are included. So, please read them. Also, give the "Notes" section a read too. This is a "era specific" mod, ONLY designed for Post-1947 usage. It is the complete aircraft, including a 'new(ish)' cockpit. All items, excepting for the standard bombs (in the KAW Weapons Pack) are included. Skins included here are for: 28th BS, 19th BG* 33rd BS, 22nd BG* 343rd BS, 98th BG 372nd BS, 307th BG * "USAF2", (a generic NM skin with no squadron/group markings) (*=indicates Night undersides. others are NM overall) All markings, excepting squadron/group color bands, are decals. Serial numbers, while correct for this model, are to be considered generic in nature. Decal randomization is TRUE. All skins use the same "pool" of serial numbers. There are NO nose arts. A number of new (actually revamped for SF2) weapons are included: VB-3 VB-4 RAzon guided bombs VB-13 Tarzon guided bomb T-10 Tallboy A Large Selection of early fission bombs Please note, that the effects for the nukes (included), do NOT work in some mods folders, for no known reason. They work fine in others. Also, be advised, even with the smallest yields, your chances of surviving are very small. Use of these weapons is not really reccomended. They are included for historical pruposes only. As always, fairly easy to follow, yet detailed install instructions are included. So, please read them. Also, give the "Notes" section a read too.
