  1. too much work for too little result too many steps outlined; for the ini work, wouldn't it be simplier to "save as ..." back into ANSI?? but for any lod created with MAX2009 and the 3W exporter, they'd be Unicode and invisible to SF1

  3. unit the "cylinder" started singing about maps, I thought it might be Happy Harry Hardon!!! Good suggestion DA, but I've done that. Not all the Japanese airfields were reused by the ROCAF. Most are underneath the modern cities now. And this would also give me the proper Japanese names, not in Chinese. and this is just for the airfields. There were between 50-65 dromes of varying utility on the island. I ain't even started locating all the cities for the alchohol & butanol plants!! (nearly 100)
  4. I suggest getting a copy. In fact, having the entire series is a MUST for skinners & modders. It really helps in finding what goes where. Correctly. that's the wing fold hinge point, as illustrated in the diagram above from the parts catalogue. At the end of the day, it's what the majority of the evidence shows. Especially on the overall DNGB, you'll find they really don't show, even if they existed. (and the orthographic film of the time is quite "iffy" on contrast differences and color changes).
  5. never did too many Hasagawa, although I did do quite a few the Tamiya armor series (1/35) so, according to Dave's map, Okinawa is in a boxed section of the ocean, where North Korea used to be? but THIS is what I'm talking about, goofballs!! this is just a small piece of the map. and, yes, obviously compass heading and distance arrows are readily figured out (after all, they're in anglic script).   7. FG-1D, VMF-213, on board USS SAIDOR (CVE-117) mid-45ish (edit: squadron disbanded in early 46) and what's with the wing walkways??? IF they were visible, they'd be up against the wing root, and the fuselage base, NOT mid-chord of the wing. Considering the steps are at the lower fuselage side of the wing roots The only time I've actually SEEN the non-skid coating was on an ex-FN -7 that used to come here to Santa Monica airport in the early 70s. USN birds, according to ALL my source materials (included my very own eyes) never had them

Many other nations also used them after the war, for various patrol/security/escort functions. It is classed as a "Patrol Boat" in the data ini, so it most likely will NOT show up attached to Battle Groups. However, it can be added via the 3w Mission Editor (like to convoys in Antishipping missions) This was a collaborative effort by RussoUK (after discovering the ship deeply archived!) Spectre8750 for finalization and exportation, plus ini works by all of us. Very few tweeks by me. It was all pretty much done!   13. I LIKE those!! About time we see some Kiwi Kittyhawks!! Shouldn't the forward band meet up with the wing band at the wing root??? Similar to the P-40F for the 69th FS at Henderson, I never finished ... must do so!!
  14. so, for example, you created a Nicaraguan MiG-21MF. You have a uniquie folder name... Objects/Aircraft/MiG-21MF_NI a unique matching main ini name... MiG-21MF_NI.ini and did you create a matching data ini, with Nicaragua as the nation (said data ini MUST reside in the aircraft's folder)? Removed Exported-TRUE ini data ini? Removed references to a no longer needed **_userlist.ini in the aircraft's main ini?? There's another tutorial in the KB -don't remember if it's 1stGen or SF2- on creating 'nationalized' aircraft. You'll have to search for it. Because, using the example here, for a fictional FAN Fishbed-J, mine has never rewritten itself. Ever
  15. it happens all the time, at random intervals and after patching or installing a DLC. Been happening since SF2 came out. This may be of some help, in our overlooked Knowledge Base: http://combatace.com/topic/55746-patching-made-easy-part-deux/ the reason your "nationalized" aircraft aren't effected, is simply because they're "nationalized", and have a unique folder and ini name that the game engine's patch/DLC routines don't recognize, being different from the 'stock' names, that reference the 3W userlists

  20. Kess' cockpits are Freeware. He gave permission for EVERYONE to use them. The only thing that would change that, is if the DAT made changes in the MAX files, and exported the finalized LOD as their own. Then, of course, they're owned by them, and can't be used by anyone else.
  21. I did a vertical "camera" for the U-2, to replicate the drift sight. I think all one needs is a pit with a radar scope (for the "tv" view), and set the angles. You'd need to specify, iirc, TV in an avionics ini this is the EOCamera from the U-2A (if you want to study it more, it's here -- http://combatace.com/files/file/11575-lockheed-u-2a-for-sf2/) I think the actual view is tied into the camera angle
  22. what about self illuminating material for the lights, like the headlights on Kesselbrut trucks? We had the problem years ago with The Factory Place; it was set as an airfield to get the buildings to light up, but aircraft kept being generated in the middle of them, even without a real 'airfield ini'
  23. didn't Fubar and Co just release something to that effect a few weeks ago? Ed was showing screenies of it not all that long ago
  24. have you run all the exes for the various games? Have you then played the game? If the mods folders have been deleted, they'll all need to be rebuilt. That means running each of the games and of course, then checking in the /SavedGames folder to make sure the stuff comes back
