SF2 WW2 ETO Mitchell Mk.III (B-25J) Bomber Pak

File Name: SF2 WW2 ETO Mitchell Mk.III (B-25J) Bomber Pak File Submitter: Wrench File Submitted: 06 August 2014 File Category: B-25 SF2 WW2 ETO Mitchell Mk.III (B-25J) Bomber Pak 8/2/2014 -- Something for the WW2 ETO players -- = For SF2 ONLY, Full-5 Merged (Reccomended/Preferred) = **Note: This mod will -NOT- work in 1stGen game installs at any patch level.** This is a "Theatre/Service Specific" nationalized release of Veltro2K's =NEW= B-25J Mitchell Medium Bomber. This represents the "glass nosed" bomber version used by the RAF in Western Europe. To make installation easier, this is the FULL aircraft, so people don't have to worry about copying files from one mods folder to another. There are 2 skin/decals set(s) in the package (mind you, only ONE actual skin map, ala the Brain32 trick, residing in the main aircraft's folder): No. 98 Squadron No. 320 Squadron (Netherlands) On the Loadout Screen, the Squadron Badge for each unit is used as the paint chip. The aircraft is finished in standard OD/Grey. All markings are decals, and Decal Randomization is TRUE. Serials for 98 Squadron are correct for this mark, but should be considered generic in nature, representing no particular aircraft within said squadron. For 320 Squadron, those marked with a single star (*) are 100% matched to their plane-in-group letter. Those marked with a double star (**), while having served in 320 could not be matched to a letter (or were replacement aircraft taking the letter of one lost on operations). Those without a star, are 'generic'. There are no ID bands, as the J model became operational several months after D-Day. Engine sounds, pilot figures, and a Hangar Screen are included. Weapons, guns, bombs, etc, are NOT; you should have them already. Operational service dates are rounded to 'whole months', and ARE relatively correct for ALL in-theatre usages. When in game, you'll see Mitchell Mk.III (v2k) on the Aircraft Selection Drop down menu. This will differentiate it from any other B-25s you may (or may not) have. As this aircraft makes use of the Invader cockpit, it has an operational bombadier station. Included is the PDF giving instructions on "how to use the bombsight". I'd reccomend not only reading it, but practicing it's use on The Range terrain. As always, fairly easy to follow, yet detailed install instructions are included. PLEASE read them!!! Happy Landings!! maybe use the Mossie FB IV pit, as it has a gunsight? Depends if there is a crawlway from the pilot's compartment connecting to the bomb aimers nose? -

Munich war 1938

no, I think it's about right. you've go the switch tracks to the sidings, one to a 'terminus'. I like it! -
ok, gots a quandary question for you all ... I have a finished skin/decal set for 18 Squadron (NEI), as attached to the RAAF for early WW2 (meaning: flying on the ww2 Darwin map). Actually, they kept these and flew them until the war's end. I can release this in a couple of ways: 1) add on skin/decals for the C bomber version (seen below), as the userlist already has the correct dates and such OTH, that model has the extra fixed nose gun (remember, we talking the glass nosed bomber type, delivered in the first 3-4 months of 1942). 2) create a 'nationalized' version for ML-KNIL usage, based off the B lod (with no fixed gun, and correct exhaust stacks (single collector type) the mapping and decal locations are identical, so it's only a few seconds of ini work to create a 'full nationalized' aircraft. Your opinions, gents (and any ladies, too!)?? TIA!

The Bump Mapping Thread
Wrench posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
Since there's been a lot of discussion about this lately, I though that maybe we should have a thread that speaks to it. It's something I'd actually like to learn how to do. So.. here we go! First off, the question I have is, can they just be added to existing or 'in the works' models, or are these textures needing to be 'built' in to model while still in MAX, before exportation?? I've been experimentating a little, and they just don't show up, even with fairly hard and well defined lines. As seen below.... I mean, it LOOKS right, but just isn't appearing in game -------- -
just saw this listed for tonight on BBC America. Looks QUITE interesting !!!! went to the BBC site to check it out. http://www.history.co.uk/shows/the-great-martian-war pretty sure all you 'across the Pond' have already seen it. NO SPOILERS!!

you sure the LSO alignment stripe is pointed down?? or even there??? a lot of them, later in war, didn't even have them, as the Modex went right there too -
I'd LOVE to see some others, especially in the "Combat Units" ... A-20 Havod/Boston of the MTO, PTO and ETO -- would be 3 books! Mitchell units of the Pacific War love their books!!

well, in that case, if building from an existing skin (and I've done this COUNTLESS times!!), duplicate the original skin/background layer, and INVERT it. This will cause the panels and rivets to show up as white, and much easier to see -
File Name: SF2 WW2 PTO B-25G Mitchell, 823rd BS Replacement Skin File Submitter: Wrench File Submitted: 30 July 2014 File Category: B-25 SF2 WW2 PTO B-25G Mitchell, 823rd BS Replacement Skin 7/29/2014 -- Something for the WW2 PTO players -- = For SF2 ONLY, Full-5 Merged (Reccomended/Preferred) = First off, my apologies to everyone, especially Veltro2K. When I sent the original B-25G package to him, I'd used the "blank" skin, without the squadron specific marking for the 823rd BS. THIS skin will replace the original one in that package. It now carries the correct color markings on the tail and cowlings for the "Tigers". Also included, just for fun, is a extra unmarked skin, named "blank-b-25g.jpg", without any markings for other texture artists to use in creating other units, if they wish. This replacement skin is exactly the same, so no adjustments to the decals or anything else will be required. Installation is simple: just unzip the archive, and drop into you PTO mods folder, or where ever you've installed the B-25G (mind you, this =IS= a PTO specific skin!!) Again, my apologies. Good Hunting! Wrench Kevin Stein Note: the Full B-25G Aircraft Package will also be updated with this corrected skin Click here to download this file

you not only need the lined map, but the "solid" uv map. That one really lets you know where the mesh breaks are, in particular for moveable surfaces, and where to draw the lines panels and rivets are made easier to draw when, in Photoshop's case, have the "grid" up. That's where the lined map is most helpfull
