SF2 Egyptian Air Force Macchi Mc-205 (DAT)
Wrench posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
File Name: SF2 Egyptian Air Force Macchi Mc-205 (DAT) File Submitter: Wrench File Submitted: 08 June 2013 File Category: Italian Origin SF2 Egyptian Air Force Macchi Mc-205 (DAT) = For SF2 (Full4/5 Merged RECCOMENDED + expansion pak 1!) *Designed for use in the standard/stand alone SF2:I Mods folder* **Expansion Pak 1 is/may be required as the destroyed model references the stock 3W P-51D Mustang's destroyed model** ***This mod -MAY- work in 1stGen game installs. But this has not/cannot be tested by me. Some (ok many) functions, etc will NOT be available in SF/Wo* . Skins will need conversion to bmp format, etc and so forth. End Users that attempt to do so, do so at their own risk. No support is/will be available*** This pak contains mods for the Dev A-Teams Mc-205, that recreate the aircraft as used by the EAF in the late 1940s.This is a semi-complete aircraft mod, and as per DAT directives, the aircraft lod is =NOT= included. So, those users that cannot access the DAT downloads, you're advised to skip this, as it's of no use to you. Everything else is included (pretty much!). Those users with access, =WILL= be transfering the lod from either a seperate DAT download of the Mc-205, or copy/pasting it from their/your Wings Over Africa WW2 Mod (suggested). This mod has been (re)built and tested with the Mc-205-R2.LOD (dated 8/30/2010) from their WW2 Wings Over Africa TC Mod. You WILL need THAT, to copy/paste into THIS aircraft's folder. You should be able to d/l from their site (seperate aircraft), in the usual manner as well. *Please Note: this mod has NOT been tested with the seperate aircraft download's LOD, Mc- 205-R1.lod (dated 2/7/2007). However, there is no reason to expect it NOT to work. Your mileage may vary.* This pacakge contains 1 (almost) complete aircraft. This is a reissue of my EAF Mc-205 from many moons ago...now, with some improvements! The skin represents No. 2 Squadron, ®EAF circa 1948-1950; just in time for the Israeli War of Indepencence. They are in jpg format. All national markings are painted on, and decal randomization is set to TRUE. Serial numbers are accurate, and in Arabic characters. The canopy has been switched to the Standard Animation Keystroke, Shift/0. The 'fake pilot method' has been used to add the underwing pylons. Loadouts have been adjusted (postiioning) accordingly. A 'new' cockpit has been used, one of Stary's WW2 pits (the Italian one). Weapons (Italian bombs and drop tanks) are included; these are SF2 conversions of those from the WoA mod. The FM is based off the 205 from the Wings Over Africa Total Conversion Mod, and may need further small adjustments. Expecially in the Post May 2013 Patch World. As always, fairly easy to follow, yet detailed install instructions are included. PLEASE read them!!! All the original DAT readmes are included, for historical and ownership/copyright purposes. It is HIGHLY suggested you unzip this archive, and READ the install instructions BEFORE installing this mod. So you know EXACTLY what to do.. Good Hunting! wrench Kevin Stein PS: although not exactly a WW2 aircraft (although the WW2 Italian AF used them) I'm placing it here only for convienice of location. 23rd FG
Wrench replied to amariani's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - World War II Forum
23rd FG is china right?? I know very few Ds made it to mainland china (some did, though) have to check the source books and C models are just B models built at the NAA Dallas plant. BOTH B and C models in the ETO & MTO occasionally got the Malcom hoods -
Expanding Radio Comms
Wrench replied to CowboyTodd41's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
99% of those were never activated; all the FAC calls (expecially from ground forces) are left over from 1stGens; like WK said, FAC no longer exists -

March 2013 patch issue - WW2 aircraft
Wrench replied to bubu's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
my hat's off the spillone! deleting the data inis from the spit and mig15 in SF2I fixed the problem. Good catch my friend (which explained WHY my WW2 ETO ones worked -- new data inis!!) well, that's one down (actually 3..but who's counting) note to KAW users: extract new MiG-15bis_Data.inis, and put into the Fagot's folder in you KAW mods folder -

SF2I DLC 28 IDFAF S-199 Mule Tweek Pak = For SF2 (Full4/5 Merged RECCOMENDED + DLC 28!) *Designed for use in the standard/stand alone SF2:I Mods folder (suggested usage)* **IF you do NOT have DLC 28, do not download this mod. It will be of no use to you whatsomeever** This pak contains some "quick and dirty" mods for the S-199 "Mezek" (or Mule) recently released in DLC #28 Now a flyable aircraft, with the included cockpit. 25 Historicaly accruate serial number decals, and NEW SF2 style Hangar and loading screens in my World Famous Box Art Style . Loadout has been adjusted to add the 300 ltr drop tank, a different pilot figure, AvHistory Jumo engine sound. Canopy activated via the Standard Animation Keystroke, Shift/0. FM remains "as issued". See "Changes" in the Note section below for more stuff. Also included is my "One Click Restore" (patent pending) main ini for when it becomes AI- only again. When in-game, you'll see S-199 (3W) on the aircraft selection drop-down menu. This will differentiate it from the S-199 by MontyCZ (an excellent mod, btw!), in case you may have that one as well. If you DO have Monty's, you may want to rename it's folder and main ini to further differentiate it. Otherwise you WILL experience conflicts/problems/issues/and assorted troubles. As always, other improvements and changes/fixes are welcomed! As I said above, it's just a Q&D mod to get them flying so others can help out with any needed/wanted/whatever tweeks and fixes. As always, fairly easy to follow, yet detailed install instructions are included. PLEASE read them!!! Happy Landings! wrench kevin stein -
Question About Cloud Height

best way to test would be on the Himalaya or Iran/Iraq maps. Fly from Teheran on an overcast day west into the mountains I personally think they're still locked -
WW2 WIPs Thread
Wrench replied to Wrench's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - World War II Forum
while not particularly ww2 in nature (or use!), early WIP of the PB-1W. Obviously, there more 'stuff' on the bird than the Real Life ones. That'll be fixed after the 17F and 17Gs are released (I'll have to bug Veltro from max work to remove some stuff, guns turrets, etc) but, those decals I've had laying around for some time now get a new home! And a late 40s to late 50s AEW bird! -

March 2013 patch issue - WW2 aircraft
Wrench replied to bubu's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
nope, in fact I removed (well, renamed) the data ini on the IDF Spits, and on the Mig15 oddly, the same SPit 9s in my ww2 ETO mod, all the ww2 style decals are perfect. On those, yes, there are newly extracted data inis as I had to 'open the window', group the guns correctly, swap pilots. and affix the tail light to the rudder OTH, nidiki's Mk 16es (and my mod thereof -which is what I was testing) no longer works at all. even with a freshly extracted data ini, even when kept as Spitfire9e_data.ini (and main ini pointer correctly named). Tips forward and blows up. my suggestion: take the mk16e skins and dump them into the 9e folder, decal folder remains the same, so the pathways remain intact btw, has ANYONE mentioned this over at 3rdWire?? it can't come from one of us "Big Names", but from a general public user. we get ignored -

WW 2 china terrain.
Wrench replied to whiteknight06604's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - World War II Forum
well, in theory, one can import the TODs, ter_objects tgas and ter_object bmps from Green Hell3 for use on the heavily forested tiles. BUT one needs to know the tile names to match them directly. Editing the china_data.ini is not that hard (btw, "forest" tiles in VietnamSEA parlance all have a J in their name) -

Wrench replied to quack74's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
here's a REALLY dumb question ... have you tried importing the terrains (as you might need one of the original to reference the terrain cat), aircraft, weapons, whatnots into SF2 and tested it? In my gut, I keep feeling there's "something" not in the core FE2 files that we have on this end they are definatley sea-skimming in SF2. -
WW 2 china terrain.
Wrench replied to whiteknight06604's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - World War II Forum
it uses the VietnamSEA tiles. Use the STOCK ONES!!! any others, even Stary's beauts, will induce more problems than you can shake your dick at. I mean this -- I've already found this out the hard way! Is also in SERIOUS need of a new Height Field --- maybe Gerwin's editor can fix them. Hopefully, the next DAT mod will include my targeting tweeks (which I'm not particully happy with), and a revamped HFD. -

May Patch?
Wrench replied to usafphantom2's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - World War II Forum
I'm just gonna come out and say it... this last patch has seriously FUCKED hundreds, if not thousands, of man-hours of modding. It's induced serious FM issues, even on player flyables (like the Mustang), and hosed AIs made flyable look in this thread for something NEW I found http://combatace.com/topic/78524-march-2013-patch-issue-ww2-aircraft/?do=findComment&comment=626777 (oddly, other then exploding in the runway, the WW2 Mk9 and Mk16 Spit's decals are ok. stock ones, not so much). -

not just ww2 aircraft although the Spits and Mustangs ARE heavily effected... graphiss issues as well look at the spit, and just inside the wingtip on the Mig-15. (near the decal) looks like we have new LOD issues now... -
