as to screens, I just use the set of generic SF2s I made some years ago (templates are in the Tools/Utilites section of the SF2 dowloads) if you want a main screen -albeit not the best-, you can use this jpg. Since SF2 uses jpg for its menu screens... aces: have you tested those downloads? cause they ain't working, brother! one of the advantages of being able to make one's OWN templates ... good news is they'll all stay in bmp format, so usable in either series. however, some of ini work (avionics, decal randomization, destroyed models and some FM parameters) won't be available in SF/Wo*. Expecially the NA statements for (cruisemissile) torps and other oddball stuff -

Wrench replied to Geary's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - World War II Forum
usually it's just a simple edit of the boats data ini; you have to bring it up to SF2 NA standards, as per the stock CVs (and paulo is a wiz at locating and adding the parking slots!) -
Why SF2 F5 looks different to the real one?
Wrench replied to Stratos's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
shorten = only in MAX, by editing the polys of the mexh remove -= simple data ini edit using 'remove component trick' honestly, that's such piddly bulls**t, I wouldn't even worry about it -

Runway 1, 5, 6 = Medium. Length 2500m Runway 2 = Medium (but small medium). Lenght 2500m (but it don't look quite that long in game) Runway 4 = Large. Length 3000 (but it looks bigger) Runway 3 = Small. Length 1200m it may also go by how many squadrons can be based there Runway 1,5,6 = 3 sqds Runway2 = 1 Runway3 = 1 Runway 4 = 6 that's right form the stock airfield ini and targets inis -

absosuetly!! in fact, to get the proper terrain effects, you have to change it from teh old 1stGen styel to SF2 style http://combatace.com/topic/54856-converting-sfwo-terrains-to-sf2-usage/ -

File Name: SF2 WW2 ETO F-5B Recon Lightning Pak File Submitter: Wrench File Submitted: 07 May 2013 File Category: P-38 SF2 WW2 ETO F-5B Recon Lightning Pak -- Something for the WW2 ETO players -- = For SF2 ONLY, Full-5 Merged (Reccomended/Preferred) = Mods to Wolf257's P-38J recreate the F-5B "Photo Lightning" as used in the ETO. This is a FULL aircraft pak, with all the trimmings. This pack conatains one USAAF F-5B, finished in "PRU Mauve" representing the 162nd Photo Recon Squadron, based in the UK. The skin is in jpg format, and decal randomization is set to TRUE, for the 6 serials I've given you. Like my other Lightning mods, several changes have been effected, they are listed in the 'ChangeLog', in the "Notes" section. Weapons (ok, drop tanks), pilot figures are included, and a NEW engine engine sound. A New SF2 style Hangar screen in included. As always, fairly easy to follow, yet detailed install instructions are included. So, please read them. Wolfs original readmes, when discoverable, are included for historical purposes. Also, give the "Notes" section a read too. "Get the Pictures"!! wrench kevin stein Click here to download this file- 1 reply

SF2 WW2 RAF Boston III Pak (DAT) = For SF2 (Full4/5 Merged RECCOMENDED!) **This mod -MAY- work in 1stGen game installs. But this has not/cannot be tested by me. ** This pak contains mods for the Dev A-Teams Boston III light attack bomber, as seen in Western Europe (ETO) from 1941 through War's End. This is a semi-complete aircraft mod, as per DAT directives, the aircraft lod is =NOT= included. So, those users that cannot access the DAT downloads, you're advised to skip this, as it's of no use to you. Those users with access, will be transfering the lod from the Wings Over Africa, or from a seperate DAT download of the A-20C/Boston III. This mod has been built and tested with the A-20_Boston-R3a24.lod from WoA. You =WILL= need this, to copy/paste into this aircraft's folder The skins from my Home Grown Template ™, and remain in their bmp format. New decals were created as needed for serials, plane-in-group letters and others. The serials are 'generic' in nature, as they represent no particular unit, but ARE for the model variant depicted. Decal randomization is set to TRUE Weapons (bombs) and guns are NOT included; you should have them already. The skins included herein are, basically, the ones I'd had posted on my (now closed) site. There is one new-build. You have: Standard 1941(ish) Day Scheme (dark earth/dark green/sky) No. 88 "Hong Kong" Squadron (code RH) No. 107 Squadron (Code OM) Standard Day Scheme (CC?), 1942/3-ish (dark green/ocean grey/medium sea grey) RAF2 (that's the folder's name...) for a fictional squadron; that according to the books, started in Havocs before transfering to Mossquitos. This is easily rebranded, via squadon letter code decal, to a Real Life ™ squadron. (Note: there is, in my mind, some lack of historicality on this skin on Boston IIIs. Most of the profiles and pictures seem to show they carried the darkearth/darkgreen until retirement late in the war. Boston IVs more than likely carried this late scheme) All the 1stGen Hangar and Loading screens were either rebuilt to SF2-spec, or created new for this package. They are in jpg format. Damage textures are new, in DDS format. The inis make use of the 'hide component' or the 'open cockpit' statements to make sure the cockpits are where they're supposed to be. This may prevent them for working in 1stGens at any patch level. The Canopy (ok, cockpit hatch) has been switched to the Standard Animation Keystroke ™, Shift/0. As always, fairly easy to follow, yet detailed install instructions are included. PLEASE read them!!! For those that may still have my 1stGen releases, it's advised you delete, or move to a storage disk or elsewhere, the aircraft and decals folders for them; this pak is desinged to replace them in total. The readmes for the original skins from 2005 are residing in the 107 and RAF2 skin folders. They may make for entertaining reading. Happy Landings! wrench kevin stein -

Can't get back 'on the boat'...
Wrench posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
doing CarQuals on the new FJ-3M Fury, and for some reason, the damn hook just isn't catching. Landing speed 'seems' about right (based on other carrier based birds), even fiddled with the hook arm lenght, thinking it was too short.. it hits the deck (Forestall sized CV), about the 3 wire, and then just rolls off the deck here's the data ini statements: and the hook: anybody got any ideas? -
SF2 WW2 Luftwaffe Drop Tank Fixit Pak
Wrench posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
File Name: SF2 WW2 Luftwaffe Drop Tank Fixit Pak File Submitter: Wrench File Submitted: 06 May 2013 File Category: SF2 Series WW2 Aircraft & Skins SF2 WW2 Luftwaffe Drop Tank Fixit Pak -- Something for the WW2 ETO/MTO players -- = For SF2, Any and ALL WW2 ETO/MOT Mods folders = This pack supplies 'rewritten' weapons data for the original, seperate LOD 300 Liter Luftwaffe drop tank. This change has been necessicated by the release of (SUPERB!) new models for RussoUk's Bf-109 series WW2 Luftwaffe fighters. As these models make use of the 'built in to the aircraft lod' drop tanks, and said new tanks use the same name as the original seperate lod tanks. What this mod does: The data and loadout inis supplied herein are for ETO based FW-190s, from my various releases. For those other aircraft that call to the old "Tank_300_LTR_190" tank, particularly those MTO based (109, 190s, Stukas -RA and 87R versions), you'll be doing those yourselves. As well as any other ETO LW aircraft. I've renamed the droptank data and main inis, to create a 'new' version, that replaces the older one, and supplied edited data and loadout inis for some aircraft (my FW-190 series). Insturctions are below, as I can't do everything, for End Users to rename the callouts for any other LW aircraft that use this older style tank. It's a simple text edit, and damn near everyone SHOULD be able to handle it. End Users =WILL= have to browse through all their LW and RA aircraft that may need this change, and make the appropriate edits. As always, fairly easy to follow install instructions are included. So, please =READ= them BEFORE installing this mod!!!. The "Notes" section contains the full instructions for manually editating the others that WILL need it. A list of said aircraft is not included ... Have Fun! wrench kevin stein Click here to download this file -

SF2 E-767 AWAC and KC-767 Cargo/Refueler Aircraft by Veltro2K = For SF2, Full 5 Merged RECCOMENDED! = This is a Re-release of the Veltro2k's KC and E-767 aircraft. It is REQUIRED that you have -at the VERY minimum- a Full-4 merged install. However, the AWACs makes use of SF2NA coding, and is NA is REQUIRED for everything to (more of less) work properly. Also, as these reference the stock 3W destroyed model (closest fit in shape, but not size...). Hence, the need for a Full 5 Merged install. It is usable without, but you may not have the dead burning wreckage on the ground. Included in this pack are the: E-767 AWAC: 602 AACS, JASDF KC-767 Refuler/Cargo Carrier: 14 Stormo, AMI 401 Squadron, JASDF Skins remain in their bmp format; the KC-767 makes use of Brain32's trick of having the one skin, resued for both, residing in MAIN aircraft folder. Decal radomization is set to TRUE (well, there's 4 aircraft for each user!). A user list is supplied for the KC-767. New damage textures are supplied, in DDS format. The skins have been 'partly' redone. The partial template I used in included. Other skinners are encouraged to 'have at it' While this mod IS supplied with a cockpit, the Standard Waring Disclaimer for these High Value Assets remains: let the AI handle them. As AFR isn't part of the game ... the word we're looking for is "eye candy". As always, fairly easy to follow, detailed install instructions are included. PLEASE read them!!! Also, give the "Note" section a read, in particular on operational usage. The Legal Statement has been changed with regards to these aircraft. For those that still have the original releases, as there HAVE been changes and additions in several of the inis you may wish to examine, mostly in respect to SF2NA, you may wish to replace the originals with these. **These aircraft herein are released in "AS IS" Condition. Any and all issues/problems that cannot be solved via ini edits will exist forever, as new models are unlikely to be created**. Happy Landings! wrench kevin stein -

Wrench replied to russouk2004's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
looks great! love the bump mapping! the only problem I see, is now with the drop tank built in to the lod, and named the same as the old one, all the other LW mods that call for that seperate lodded tank, will need rebuilding (like all my Focke Wulfs!! and the Emil-7 -unless a new one is coming!) I hadn't thought of that before!!! guess it's time for a little renaming, ini editing, and maybe hex editing of the old one to a "slightly" different name. -
