KAW Corsairs-PROP Question
Wrench replied to Spiff's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
the prop tgas are in the skin folders, and the main folder. Might be something in the RPM statements, but more likely something with the LOD (node names? although they all work...) and yes, Cntl/I still shuts off the engine what "other models" do you mean? the AU-1 and -5NL or Wolf's WW2 Corsairs. Cause them's apples and oranges! -

SF2 KAW RF-51D Mustang = For SF2, Full-4/5 Merged (Reccomended/Preferred) = *Note: as these aircraft were built with the latest 3W exporter, and due to the skin format, they will most likely =NOT= work in SF/Wo* 1stGen Installs* This is the recon variant of the Mustang, the RF-51D. Like all other Mustangs, it is fully capable of most other operational Missions (CAS,STRIKE,Armed_Recon, but not auntie-ship or Air-To-Air). The primairy use was the photo-recon role; all other ground-attack roles are secondary. This skin represents aircraft from the 45th TRS "Polka Dots" during the late 1940s and 50s, with special focus on the Korean War. The skin is in DDS format, and decal randomization is set to TURE. 18 new serial and BuzzNumber decals are supplied. No weapons are included excepting the drop tank data; all others can be found in the GunnyPak or the KAW Weapons Pak, both available at here at CA. The pilot figure and engine sounds are included, as in an SF2-style hangar screen. The Standard Keystrokes operate the canopy (Shift/0) Happy Hunting! wrench kevin "bob" stein =For the KAW Team= -

Squadron name not displaying on loadout screen
Wrench replied to Dels's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
not necessarily! this one "fakes out the engine. as long as there's an entry in the squadronlist.in, this works. The game enigne seems to want to "look" for a 'SqTail.tga" -

Wrench replied to Dels's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
something like my 'fake sqtail' decal try this one...unzip, drop in the root of the /Decals folder, and rewrite the path something like below: [Decal010] MeshName=RightOUterWing DecalLevel=1 DecalFacing=bottom FilenameFormat=Decals/SqTail Position=-4.60,0.1278 Scale=0.00000001 DecalMaxLOD=1 what's cool, is you don't even need the correct mesh name!! (or you can attach it to any mesh that dosen' t thave anything on it, rudder, elevator, aileron, etc) -

SF2 KAW RF-51D Mustang
Wrench replied to Wrench's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
all you'd need is a "new" skin with the pre-47stars, and tail markings, as they're painted. Problem is, I can't seem to wrap my head around the specular mapping, that has the star and usaf built in. (of course, one could always delete/rename, but you'd loose all the cool eye candy) Not really planned, but maybe in the future; definately a possiblity! -

SF2 WW2 Spitfire Mk.1A by Mod Mafia/TMF
Wrench posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
File Name: SF2 WW2 Spitfire Mk.1A by Mod Mafia/TMF File Submitter: Wrench File Submitted: 02 November 2012 File Category: Spitfire SF2 WW2 Spitfire Mk.1A by Mod Mafia/TMF = For SF2, Full-4/5 Merged (Reccomended/Preferred) = *Note: There is a distinct possibility that this mod may not work in SF/Wo* 1stGen game installs at any patch level, due to the excessive modifications made to fit them into the SF2 environment. End Users that attempt to do so, do so at their own risk.* A brand "new" model that was never completed when Bpao passed away a few year back. I've been fortunate enough to be allowed to complete his work, as a member of the Mod Mafia. This is the Vickers/Supermarine Spitfire Mk.1A. This pak contains skins/decal sets for the following RAF Squadrons: No. 41 No. 54 No. 92 No. 610 in their 'Battle of Britain' livery. National markings are painted on, and all the aircraft use a 'pool' of indvidual call letters (A,B,C, etc) and serial numbers (all historiclly Mk.1s). Each has the Squadron letters (DW, EB, QJ, etc) also as decals. This will make it easier for other squadrons to be created by simply making new 2-digit Squadron letters. There is a blank bmp called "DW" in the 41 Squadron decals folder that can be resued for this. Those that know how, can duplicate my work quite easily. All skins are in jpg format, Decal Randomization is TRUE. A new SF2 version of the original 'box art' hangar and loading screens are included. Damage textures are dds format. A 'destroyed.lod' is included, taken from the WW2 terrains (its used for destroyed statics). Those with SF2I Expansion Pak1 can easliy switch to the 3W destroyed Spit lod. The canopy/entry door open with the Standard Animation Keystroke , Shift/0. For those RAF Squadron listed in the game's SquadronList.ini, my 'fake sqtail' decal will activate their "Displayed Name" on the LoadoutScreen. When 'in game', you'll see "Spitfire Mk.1A (TMF)" on the aircraft drop-down selection window. This will differentiate it from any other Mk.1s you may have. The Official Squadron Crest is used for the 'paint chip' for each skin. As always, fairly easy to follow, detailed install instructions are included. So, please READ them. Also, give the "Notes" section a read too for futher explinations, clarifactions, illuminations and so forth. Good Hunting! wrench kevin stein For Oli; you are sorely missed! Reqesting for some Fighters

well, considering they were reverse engineered Marcello units (and they did a s**tty job, even though they had the MAX files). Sad story, all around -

Wrench replied to TheWarrior's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - World War II Forum
personal 'test' only unit. need more fine tuning, but I don't have the time right now to futz with it you can still add "Naval_Strike" to the data ini, and it'll attack with bombs. Did that to the Condor (no longer available, sorry to say) and it went down to >500 feet to attack the Victorious off Iceland -
Catapult problem.
Wrench replied to Stratos's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
don't fly helos from ships? that should eliminate the problem looks more like an aircraft data in problem, as opposed to ship data in problem (since it's a 'fake' catapult, and helo flight is still barely functional...) -
Mods to SF2NA not being seen
Wrench replied to TeargasHorse's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
sounds lilke some of the problems dsawan was having. looking at that path, is safe to assume the NA mods folder is NOT on the C drive. Try putting it BACK there, and see what happens. (and delete or renamed to tweeked options ini, and let the engine rebuild a new mods folder) methinks there's a dll or exe glicth in coding somewhere. when sitting on the C, everything tends to work as advertised. For some, it works elsewhere (D/E/F/Z) for others, not so much -

Wrench replied to TeargasHorse's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
are you flying in the correct year range? IcelandNA has a VERY limted date range from the main ini: [AllowedDates] StartDate=1976 EndDate=1984 most assuredily, they need extension in BOTH directions (but you wont see Soviet CVs before 76, nor the surface fleet either) as to where, the mods folder sets up exactly the same for NA as the others, if you wan stuff in SF2NA (run from the NA exe), it'll have to go inot the 'Strike Fighters 2 North Atlantic" mods folder. edit: also, never screw around with the Options ini, except to "fix" the year spreads as per the Knowledge Base post, and to turn off the ObjectFade (if it becomes annoying) -

File Name: SF2 WW2 F4U-1 Corsair (Birdcage) by Mod Mafia/TMF File Submitter: Wrench File Submitted: 02 November 2012 File Category: F4U SF2 WW2 F4U-1 Corsair (Birdcage) by Mod Mafia/TMF = For SF2, Full-4/5 Merged (Reccomended/Preferred) = *Note: There is a distinct possibility that this mod may not work in SF/Wo* 1stGen game installs at any patch level, due to the excessive modifications made to fit them into the SF2 environment. End Users that attempt to do so, do so at their own risk. A Full 4/5 Merged install is reccomened; at very minimum, SF2:V is required, as this aricraft references the A-1H's destroyed model* *Note #2: this model will REPLACE, in it's entirety, the stand-in I built using Wolf's as a base. You may (well, should!) delete that mod completly* A brand "new" model that was never completed when Bpao passed away a few year back. I've been fortunate enough to be allowed to complete his work, as a member of the Mod Mafia. This is the eagerly awaited (and wanted!) F4U-1 "Birdcage" Corsair as issued to USMC, and later to USN squadrons. Skin/Decals set included are for: VMF-124 "Wild Aces", the 1st American unit to take the Corsair into combat in the Solomons. It is finished in the "Non-Specular Blue over NS-grey" VF-17 "Jolly Rogers", finished in the 3-tone blue camo All skins are in jpg format, Decal Randomization is TRUE. All get new SF2 versions of the original 'box art' hangar screens. Damage textures are the old tga versions. The 124 skin uses painted on National Markings, the "Jolly Rogers" use decals. Either skin version can easily be used to create other operational squadrons of the time period. A userlist is included with proper dates for BOTH USMC and USN operations. when 'in game', you'll see "F4U-1 Corsair "Birdcage" (TMF)" in the aircraft drop-down selection window. While the aircraft IS carrier capable, historically, the Birdcages saw very limited use aboard ship. The canopy operates via the Standard Animation Keystorke of Shift/0. Breaking with Modder tradition, the wingfold operates via the "airbrakes" key. I didn't change to the standard Shift/9, as the last time I did it, I broke it!. So, it is as it was originally set by Bpao. All lighting is historically accurate. WW2 weapons (ie: bombs) are NOT included. You should have them already. As always, fairly easy to follow, highly detailed install instructions are included. So, please READ them. Also, give the "Notes" section a read too for futher explinations, clarifactions, illuminations and so forth. Good Hunting! wrench kevin stein For Oli; you are sorely missed! so... why is your disk saturated and your memory low???? you KNEW I couldn't resist that one!!! you think that's bad, the F-80 templates weigh it at over 365,200kb (well, it IS just the one sheet & 4096x4096) Completly chokes - I mean to DEATH!!! PS 6 and 7. Have to save, and the finish 'save as...' in paint.net Don't forget, there's a Mk.VIII coming too, that has the (almost) identical mapping.
