The Aircraft/GroundObject sets for CBI are substantially different from Central or SouthWest Pacific areas. You'll need the Burma and China WW2 terrains from the 1stGen Terrains Downloads. Be advised, that even though I reworked both terrains some years ago, they need yet another going over to correct many faults; but they ARE perfecly playable as is, with the needed SF2 terrain conversion tweeks that is :)** This pack contains 3 aircraft, by or modded from those build by Wolf257, for use in the China-Burma-India Theatre by the USAAF. They are: A-36 Apache P-51A Mustang P-51B Mustang All aircraft are from the 311th FBG, and represent the various squadrons. These are the ONLY early model Mustangs to see service in the Pacifc Theatre (well, ok, actually CBI!), and no where else. The D model's didn't start to make their appearences until US Forces landed in the Phillipines. Hence, again, the need for a seperate CBI-centric install. New (semi)compliant SF2 FMs were cobbled together. As has become expected, the FM is NOT perfect, and needs further fine-tuning by Experts. New hangar screens, theatre specific weapons (except the WW2 bombs -you should have them already), a pilot figure and engine sounds are included. All skins are in jpg format, and decal randomization is set to TRUE. As is usual, all lighting is 100% historically correct. Remember, too, the A-36 and P-51A are the Allison engined versions, and therefore not as 'quick' as the Merlin powered models. As always, fairly easy to follow, highly detailed install instructions are included. So, please read them. Also, give the "Notes" section a read too. All original readmes are included for historical purposes (when discoveralbe from the archives) Happy Hunting! wrench kevin stein Click here to download this file
  2. yes, they've stated they're doing a PTO mod. Their new Oscar looks really NICE!!, let me tell you!
  3. it works in SF2, and aircraft BUILT for SF2, because the drop tank mesh is part of the aircraft LOD, therefore textureable (?) individually You can also put decals on them, too, because they're part of the aircraft in 1stGens, nope. as was stated above, seperat skins, seperate lods that need internal hex editing to change the *skinname*.bmp for each one.

  5. looks good in USAF markings! --------------------------------------------- I have "Fall of the Arrow" on pdf, if anyone wants it.
  6. and, if one has archived pre-lock lods (pre Jan 2012), a hex editor that reads UNICODE helps; as long as one thinks llike an aircraft designer. You can 'find' a mesh name with diligent searching
  7. dive and level bumming AI seems "off", just noticed whilst working on the WW2 stuff
  8. have you tried looking in the SF/Wo* WW2 Aircraft/Allied Aircraft/Allied Fighters section??? just look for my name
  9. Identify this Aircraft

    the original Su-9???
  10. you're welcome! it doesn't mean it won't work, it just means that you won't have carriers. (afaik, the coding for the 'carrier zones' only comes from a full merged install with SF2NA somewhere in the mix) you'll be flying from land bases only
  11. I was thinking more along the lines that Dave gets 10 cents from ED for everyone he brings over!! Shoot, if they were paying ME that much, maybe I'd switch too!!! (can sure use the money!!! )
  12. the turtle deck is damn near perfect!!!
  13. File Name: SF2 AVG Flying Tigers Tomahawk Pak - for WW2 CBI File Submitter: Wrench File Submitted: 26 August 2012 File Category: P-40 SF2 AVG "Flying Tigers" Tomahawk Pak by Baltika -- Something for the CBI players -- = For SF2, Full-4/5 Merged (Reccomended/Preferred) = *There is a possibility that this mod will =NOT= work in SF/Wo* 1stGen game installs, due to the excessive modifications made to fit them into the SF2 environment.* **Notex2: These aircraft should ONLY be used in a seperate CBI-centric mods folder to prevent them from showing up where, historically, they shouldn't. This uses Wolf257's Tomahawk as the base aircraft It contains 99.9% Historically Accurate ™ serial numbers, Individual aircraft numbers and squadron markings. This pak contains: 1st Pursuit "Adam & Eves" 2nd Pursuit "Panda Bears" 3rd Pursuit "Hell's Angles" Like the recently rereleased Tomahawks, it has a new (semi)compliant SF2 FM, and in this case, a new cockpit (albeit NOT correct for P-40s* see Notes below for more explinations). It uses one of Stary's 'Generic Pits', that you can see things in. So, accept this 'poetic licsence'. The original Wolf pit is, however, still included. It is also HIGHLY advised to add this generic cockpit to the other 2 Tomahawk mods, for SF2 usage. Operational service dates for the aircraft have been limited to the actual spread; 12/21/41 - 7/4/42. To that end, Userlist.ini was created to help 'lock them in'. There is no historicl evidence that these Tomahawks, unlike their RAF brethern, ever used any external stores, but research is still ongoing (meaning: I gave them to you anyway, as the D&S book hinted they had them!). As always, fairly easy to follow, highly detailed install instructions are included. So, please read them. Also, give the "Notes" section a read too. 14. by chance, do any of you folks have the AircraftObject.ini residing someplace in you mods folders? If so, Try renaming it and see if the remapping holds.
  15. and reworking the Skyraider's FM for KAW, CBI Mustangs/Apache, PTO ships pak, damn terrain work.....it never ends! And some folks think modding is nearing it end, and jumping ship.
  16. File Name: SF2 N1K1 Rex and N1K2-J George File Submitter: Wrench File Submitted: 25 August 2012 File Category: Other SF2 N1K1 "Rex" and N1K2-J 'George" -- Something for the PTO players -- = For SF2, Full-4/5 Merged (Reccomended/Preferred) = *There is a possibility that this mod will =NOT= work in SF/Wo* 1stGen game installs, due to the excessive modifications made to fit them into the SF2 environment. Also, the DestroyedModel referenced for both aircraft 'looks' for the SF2V A-1 Skyraider, hence the Full 4/5 Merged reccomendation* Mods/reskins/redcals for Wolf257's IJN fighter, and Pasko's Rex Floatplane. This package contains BOTH full aircraft: N1K1 Kyofu "Rex" by Pasko, with both it's skins/decals "Black" - Ohtsu Kokutai, Lake Biwa, Japan, Sept. 1944 "Green" 22 Kokutai, Balikpapan, Borneo, 1945 N1K2-J Skinden-kai "George" by Wolf257, with 3 skins/decals "343" Genda's Squadron of Experts "IJN" 210 Kokutai, Phillipines, 1944 (real Ku used the early model mid-wing N1K1-J) "IJN2" Yokosuka Air Group, 1945, Home Islands Defense All George skins are in jpg format, the Rex keeps them in bmp as they are quite small (512x), and conveting them might loose some detailing (meaning: I didn't want to create new templates, and they look OK as they are). Decal Randomization is TRUE. Both get new SF2 versions of the original 'box art' hangar screens. All weapons, (ok a new drop tank), pilot figures, are included. A new (almost) SF2-compliant FM for bot was created. As always, since I'm really not an FM Guru, further tweeks/adjustments are necessary. Also, the physical models are quite old, and any flaws/defects/etc cannot be repaired/fixed/etc. It is as it is. The "FakePilot" method is used on the George to add the belly pylon. Outerpylons are still 'not there' for bombs. Damage textures are the 'original' tgas from Gen1. Stary was kind enough to revist and fiddle a new cockpit for the George; the Rex keeps it's original release version. Both have semi-compliant SF2 Flight Models, but they do need further fine tuning by experts. All lighting on both aircraft is 100% historically correct. For those wishing to create other serials, the "TNum.psd" can be found in the Decals folders for the proper skins. As always, fairly easy to follow, highly detailed install instructions are included. So, please read them. Also, give the "Notes" section a read too. 18. are your individual numbers listed as Level=2 in the decals ini? in case you still might want it, even though it's from 2004, here's the 3rdWire decals totorial: http://combatace.com/files/file/345-strike-fighters-decal-tutorial/
  19. yeah, the decking between the gunners station and the vert fin, callled the turtle deck. good closeups in the D&S book. folds down flat, level with the rear cockpt sill. (wich means the front of the fin will need a mesh to close it off another idea (that will more than likely create more work for you ...) the rear canopy would be open all the time in flight, so the gunner can operate the twin 30s ... my thinking is as the turtle deck retracts, the canopy slides forward to locked position, and the guns deploy; linked to the gear. OTH, the rear canopy was always open during landing ops (easy excape for the gunner). Gonna take some thinking to figure that one out! (or conversly, the rear canopy is open all the time?) front canopy could (ok, would) have a manual animation keystroke, likes been done for others.
  20. File Name: SF2 PTO - Zero and Rufe Pak File Submitter: Wrench File Submitted: 26 August 2012 File Category: A-6M Zero SF2 Zero and Rufe Pak -- Something for the PTO players -- = For SF2, Full-4/5 Merged (Reccomended/Preferred) = *There is a distinct possibility that this mod will =NOT= work in SF/Wo* 1stGen game installs, due to the excessive modifications made to fit them into the SF2 environment.* This is a Compliation Pakcage of all the Mods/Reskins/etc for ArmorDave's A6M "Zero". Included in this pack are: A6M2 Type 21 A6M2 "Sen Baku" by Christian59 A6M5 Type 52a A6M5C Type 52c A6M7 Type 63 A6M2-N Rufe floatplane (both the early and late model sets - 'plane white-ish', and Camo green). All have a (semi) compliant SF2 FM - however, as always, further tweeking may be necessary by experts. Personally, I think they're just a hair 'too good', but they fly very nicely. Data ini edits add the SF2NA style 'carrier based statements', so they can/will fly from IJN carriers on terrains that have the proper naval map statements and _water.bmp. And if you posess operational IJN CVs (there's a WW2 ship pak in the works) Pilot figures (including the fakepilot & pylons), weapons, sounds and a gun are included. Decal radomization is TRUE for all, and all skin maps are jpgs. New, SF2 versions of the 'box art' hangars and loading screens are included. As always, fairly easy to follow, highly detailed install instructions are included. So, please read them. Also, give the "Notes" section a read too. All original readmes, where discoverable, are included within their individual aircraft & skin folders. Due to the age of these models, and the lack of access to the MAX files, any and all physical errors canNOT be fixed. They are 'as they are'. 21. kinda what I did with the Flying Flapjack, but with the same decal. Or some some RAF ww2 skins, with R/L call letters. As long as you've got a mesh to use, Num***R and Num***L works fine. but... Rebel Alliance??? it's really wild looking, and I love it!!
  22. just uncomment the lines I've provided in the PersianGulf ini, and use the GermanyCE.cat. meaning, from this: DogfightOnly=FALSE WaterMap=PersianGulf_Water.bmp CatFile=..\Desert\Desert.cat //CatFile=..\GermanyCE\GermanyCE.cat //CatFile=..\VietnamSEA\VietnamSEA.cat Longitude=25.80 Latitude=52.08 LimitedNations=TRUE GroundObjectTexture=Tan NavalMap=TRUE to this: DogfightOnly=FALSE WaterMap=PersianGulf_Water.bmp //CatFile=..\Desert\Desert.cat CatFile=..\GermanyCE\GermanyCE.cat //CatFile=..\VietnamSEA\VietnamSEA.cat Longitude=25.80 Latitude=52.08 LimitedNations=TRUE GroundObjectTexture=Tan NavalMap=TRUE btw, it ain't gonna work as advertised, as you need SF2NA for the CV zones coding from the _water bmp Important: NEVER NEVER NEVER touch the _targets.ini. If you look in the terrain folder, you'll find the various Desert airfield inis already provided. This is because they ain't stock ... and without these corrected ones, stuff isn't gonna sit or show up properly. to reiterate: terrains I upload are complete packages; all the End User ™ needs is the proper game install to drop them into. the screenie below is what your /Terrains folder should look like (well, maybe with all the others!) edit: did't notice you have your core install on another HD. Those pathways are designed for use only with the core files located on the C drive. You may need to reinstall SF2 into the proper pathway C:\Program Files (x86)\ThirdWire\Strike Fighters 2 although, I don't see why it shouldn't work, but it may not. All my stuff resides on /C, so ... ???
  23. well, I haven't worked on the decals for the F-80s and F-86E/F for about 3 weeks ... BUT very soon The Real Deal Terrain ™, with it's 100-year spread, 98.6% Geophysically accurate targeting (including NK SAMs), and several completed aircraft -including the -4, -4B, -5NL, AD-2/3/4/4NL will start appering in the SF2 downloads sections. Along with several ships that I HOPE are complete (I mean, the CLs and CVL works in WW2!!). Everyone will, unfortunately, be stuck with a backdated SCB125 Essex, as there's no straight-decked versions freely available (with the gun turrets!) what this means is, it'll be relased piecemeal, in fits and spurts. So the majority of the skins you just uploaded will be replaced. Sorry brudda! as to the -2 Panther ... I'm not sure where it's at, FM wise. But guiseppe did a fantastic job on the lod and cockpit!!
