Why is everybody bugging out from SF series?
Wrench replied to FLOGGER23's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
i belive the term is 'thread hijack' one wonders if it'll take 8 years to get the Nimitz into DCS, like it did for SF -

based upon the date of the LOD (9/24/2009), I'd say it's the original Inskay version -

Good News, Everyone!
Wrench posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - World War II Forum
By pressing my luck a bit, I've been able to reimpor the New Guinea terrain back into a specialy built 'one terrain only' TE, and add ALL the VNSEA tiles to the texture set ini. This means that it can now be retiled using any of the VietnamTilesets (will, mabye not all ... there is a couple of 'special tiles' I'm using). Once it's retiled to VNSEA, all those crapy BN series tiles can be deleted from the texturelist, and it reverts to ONLY using the vietnam tiles. that's the good news... the bad news it'll totally wipe the targets ini (meaning: almost everything will need s**t-canning and rebuilding), as the various jungle, grass, and expecially the city tiles will force me to start fresh on damn near everything (although airfields are fairly easy to fix -- it's the other stuff!). Good news is, it'll look 10000% better with the stock tiles than ever before Bad news is, it's gonna take weeks and weeks, as the ENTIRE terrain will have to hand tiled. So, no due date. Hopefully, before the year's out (even more hopefully, before Dec 21st!!! ) stay tuned! -
Central America Terrain for SF2
Wrench replied to Wrench's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
yes, it can and does ... by removing the types listing, it negates any and all entires for that item in the targets ini. It used to NOT cause problems ... but lately, there's a lot of 'oddness' happening internaly. It used to just ignore the entry, skip over it and go on (you can see this on the WW2 maps, were I got lazy and just renamed the static parked aircraft, instead of deleting the entires and renumbering each target type listing -- way too much work, and I'm too lazy!! usually, as we've been discovering, 80% is 'ground objects', and with SF2NA (or full-5merged), it was ships causing the lock/crash. So, myself and others did the logical thing .. remove all but the 2 stock cargo ships, all the 3rdParty warships (excepting 3W warships), and add them back one at a time to ghe GO folder. I don't remember who actually figured out it was the 'new' Fletcher, but that was the bugger. By using the old one, it dosen't do it. raven: sorry, my CIA/DEA contacts wouldn't tell where they were. besides, we don't have the 'paper wrapped bomb' they used in the movie to drop on them! I'll make up for it on the New Guinea map, by adding a 'cryptid hatchery' (ie: google ropen) -
Central America Terrain for SF2
Wrench replied to Wrench's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
don't edit the types ini!!!! EVER!!!!! (unless you backed it up first!! ) if have any other than the original release version of the Fletcher (it's used several times), rename it's folder and try again. The most recent release/build is causing the game to lock and crash. Or edit the targets ini, and swap it out for SumnerFRAMs (btw, it works fine for me, but ... I've got the original Fletcher up-converted with NA statements. Its in the WW2 Naval units pack) -

new region around Port Morseby ... stil have extend the headlands to the s/w of the city. my maps show the 'lake' is actually swamps. which we really can't do (well, I have, but want to keep imported tiles to a minimum) DA: I actually have a nose art decal of Bender, the 'caption' under the figure is B.M.S.M.A. -

File Name: SF2 WW2 PTO P-38 Lightning Pak File Submitter: Wrench File Submitted: 07 September 2012 File Category: P-38 SF2 WW2 PTO P-38 Lightning Pak - More P-38 Lightnings in the Pacific - -- Something for the PTO players -- = For SF2, Full-4/5 Merged (Reccomended/Preferred) = *There is a distinct possibility that this mod will =NOT= work in SF/Wo* 1stGen game installs, due to the excessive modifications made to fit them into the SF2 environment.* Mods/reskins/redecaling for Wolf257's WW2 aircaft. This package contains, broken down by aircraft and skins: P-38H 9th FS, 49th FG "Flying Knights" 39th FS, 35th FG "Flying Cobras" P-38J 431st FS, 475th FG "Satan's Angles" 7th FS, 49th FG "Screaming Demons" P-38L 80th FS, 8th FG "Headhunters" 433rd FS, 475th FG "Blue Devils" P-38M* (NightLightning -radar equiped 2-seat nightfighter) 6th NFS (*Note: M's never reached operational, squadron status before war's end. This one is more for fun) All skins are in jpg format, Decal Randomization is TRUE. All get new SF2 versions of the original 'box art' hangar screens. Damage textures are the old tga versions. All have semi-compliant SF2 Flight Models, but they do need further fine tuning by experts. All lighting is 100% historically correct. As always, fairly easy to follow, highly detailed install instructions are included. So, please read them. Also, give the "Notes" section a read too. Remember -- these are very old models, so they "are as they is". All original readmes, when discoverable, are included. Good Hunting! wrench kevin stein Click here to download this file -

SF2 WW2 Ki-27 "Nate" -- Something for the PTO players -- = For SF2, Full-5 Merged (Reccomended/Preferred) = *There is a distinct possibility that this mod will =NOT= work in SF/Wo* 1stGen game installs, due to the excessive modifications made to fit them into the SF2 environment.* This is a compilation of all my work, and anyone elses I could find, for Wolf's K-27 Nate IJAAF fighter. It is designed to replace ALL the previously released versions. So, be advised. This pak comprises the complete aircraft, with several skins from differing time frames of WW2. Most are for those units based in China, Indo-China/Malaysia and Burma regions, with one I've been able to ID as being used in Japan in the last days of the war. Skins are by myself and Jeff "pcpilot" Gerald. It has semi-compliant (VERY! semi!) SF2 Flight Models, but they REALLLLLLY do need further fine tuning by experts (meaning: it turns on a dime, and gives back 9.5 cents change). All skins are in jpg format, and decal randomization (for those with ID numbers) is set to TRUE. the 77 Sentai skins use decals for the Chutai markings. I've tried, as best as possible, to use the 'StartDefaultDate' on all skins to limit the availability for pre-War markings from those that came into being post-American entry into WW2. 2 of these skins are Sentai that operated in Manchuria against the Soviets in the Late 1930s. A new SF2 version of the old 'box art' Hangar Screen is included. Sounds are included (which you prolly have anyway, along with the bombs and drop tanks.) A new glass tga finally allows the aircraft to have visible windows. As always, fairly easy to follow, highly detailed install instructions are included. So, please read them. Also, give the "Notes" section a read too. All readmes from the original releases, and re-releases, are included where discoverable from the archives. This will give the AVG guys something to go up against -- 77 Sentai was one of their main antagonists. Also included is my HomeGrown Template . It too, could use some enhancing. Remember folks, the physical model is very old; "it is as it is", and any flaws/faults cannot be fixed without the unavailable MAX files. Good Hunting! wrench kevin stein -

What If Screenshot Thread.......
Wrench replied to Dave's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Screen Shots
actually, I was just testing the exhaust effect, which wasn't/isn't working right. It's being "looked at" by an expert. the J8M was a real aircraft; it just didn' enter service (except for a couple dozen glider trainers). As to be expectd, issues with the Walther rocket the PB4Y-1 skin is in the 1stGen downloads, prolly under WW2/Allied Bombers. it's by Pappychksix; however, it needs redoing to add the other ID leters/numbers. Built from Pasko's B-24J -

Must be from "The Wingman" universe!! Geary, look up the 1960s VSF- Navy squadrons, in particular those that used Scooters. C, and iirc, B have been able to use 'winders for sometime (both in game and Real Life ™ there's a VSF-1 'Warhawks' A-4C_65 skin in d/l section -
