Creating ground object from an aircraft file
Wrench replied to quack74's topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2
the sinking has never been fixed ... it's got something to do with the center 0/0 position of the lod (for a laugh, look in the SF2 screenshot thread for my sunken cuban beagles) The only way I know for sure to place a static aircraft is 1) plot new parking positions like MB said (unfortunately, generates random, undamaged A/C) or 2) have actual static lods of said aircraft (like the WW2 maps. Capun HAS some static WW1s, but ....) To add destroyed models scatered around, you need to plot the positions just like any other terrain object, then call them out in the _types.ini. Unfortunately, one needs to extract the various ObjectData***.ini to get the destroyed lod names (or, from the data inis of the aircraft). Not hard, but takes a couple of hours. Works really well, too, as the game engine will pull the destroyed unit dirctly from the ObjectCat, and place it. Kinda cool! wrench kevin stein -

A-4B Skyhawk VMA-331 Bumblebees Skin Pak -- For SF2, Any and All that have the A-4B Accessable This skin/decal represents VMA-331 Bumblebees as seen in 1962/63 when based at NS Rossevelt Roads, Puerto Rico and NS Guantanamo Bay (aka Leeward Field), Cuba during the Cuban Missile Crisis All new, historically accurate BuNum decals have been created (thank you Skhawaks.org!!). Unfortunately, the listing didn't match Modex to BuNum, so it's not perfectly accurate. Other mods include a tweeked data and loadout ini. The loadout ini changes the STRIKE bombs to use 1000 pounders. Data ini changes include activating the canopy via a manual animation key (use Shift/0 to open and close), and the addition of the landing light. As always, READ the enclosed readme for full, detailed instructions. This package has been broken down into the various folders that SF2 needs, to make it a LOT easier to install (read: drag and drop). Happy Hunting! wrench kevin stein -

yeah, you HAVE to edit the Options.ini FIRST, before the terrains. Editing the OPtions.ini unlocks everything -

SF1 Colour tool
Wrench replied to Stick's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
i think he means like the one Deuces used to have at his site. You plug in the RGB values (88/91/91) and converts it to -for lack of a better term- hex coding as is used in TK data inis Color=0.88,0.25,0.25 <--this bit wrench kevin stein -

well, one can always do THIS to the Range.ini: [AllowedMissionTypes] FriendlyMissionTypes=STRIKE,CAS,SEAD,ARMED_RECON,RECON EnemyMissionTypes=RECON (assuming this CAS route is added:) [Route009] RouteType=GROUND_ATTACK StartArea=Vehicle Depot EndArea=Checkpoint 8 RoutePosition[001]=412670,714040 RoutePosition[002]=414439,711590 RoutePosition[003]=415501,710627 mind you ONLY works on my Range Upgrade. If not, juse edit out (delete) the CAS statement in the above Ships, I'm having a bit of a problem with ... the 'sink' underground. I'll fiddle with more when I get home Sunday night wrench kevin stein -

this what you're looking for? have a few more decals to make. Perfect example of what I was saying ... less than 10 minutes work!! (well, I DO cheate, having an exceedingly large stash of Modex numbers ready for use as needed There are some marking on the ver fin, below the yellow box that the Warpaint book isn't telling me what they are. If you all have any pics, or links to some, it'll help wrench kevin stein -
Creating .DDS Damage Textures.
Wrench replied to liamp51's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
don't they have to be called out inside the lod, just like skin bmps??? try this first... convert you damage bmp (or whatever) to tgas, 24bit +8bit alpha (32bit total), call them out as usual (old style) [DamageTexture] DamagedPostFix=_Holes.tga DestroyedPostFix=_Shredded.tga (ignore the _shreded) and see if those work. I've made quite a few damage tgas, and they always seem to work. Mind you, EACH damage tga MUST have the exact same name as EACH skin bmp (I cheat, and create them FROM each skin bmp, so the holes actually match the aircraft parts), and the MUST be in the main folder of the aircraft, whre all the inis and such go wrench kevin stein -

Canadair IS correct, if there is no route defined for a mission type, the loadout usually defaults to nothing or sometimes a-a loadout. I can whip out some routes first thing next week, if you want, for CAS and A-S (that IS gonna look a bit odd....just pretend the ship is on railroad tracks or something) -

I always type/say what I mean!! Here's a link to the Ra(n)ge Targets Upgrade: http://combatace.com/files/file/6164-modern-range-and-red-range-upgrade/ now, it IS 100% possible to add CAS routes, hell, even a shipping route if one REALLY wishes to suspend disbelief... wrench kevin stein -

I think you need to spend MUCH more time in the Knowledge Base ...what parts do what. Especially the various data ini (aircraft, groundobject, weapons --there's one for each type) Readup on the aircrft data inis.
