Looking for new terrain...

Um.... all of them?? (but, it should be noted my opinion is slightly colored....) You want mountains, you can't go wrong with the 4-seasoned ANW, and DBS. Libya has some nice ones, too (although the biggest one is on Sicily) Or the Himalays... The choice be yours wrench kevin stein -

There's a WHOLE category in the Downloads section chock FULL of terrains. You mean to tell us you haven't even looked??? All 1stGen Terrains work in NextGen games with supremly little editing. I thought I did that already....???? Well, if not, there's easy, simple to follow instruction on "How To..." in our conviently supplied Knowledge Base wrench kevin stein -
that answers a question from me, too! I was also wondering about that. so, that'll bring just about everything up to the latest FE2 standards? wrench kevin stein

Out of curiosity, how many of you all have either SFP1 (patched to 08) or SF2 (patched to 6/10)? The reason I ask, is that a (hopefully) soon-to-be-relased terrain mod will require the desert cat from either of those games. In a pinch, the GermanyCE cat from WoE/SF2E could probably be used, as all the tiles are included (well, sort of -- one would need to download the 'original' WW2 version of the terrain FIRST, then add this ini/object pak) Or, would it be better to just upload the entire terrain? That not big a deal; I'd just have to remove the static WW2 planes lods and bmps. Just want to see if, you know, it'll be a feasable thing for The Great War crowd. please respond below TIA! wrench kevin stein

Thank you gents! Yah, I think I'll just do it a the full terrain, the difference of only 20-40 megs, and removing the unnecessary lods/bmps only took a minuite. The problem was the 'size', fortunatly (iirc), it's not the real life fullsized version of the original terrain (i think!), and a lot of airbases "to the west of a physical geographic/geological feature" have been removed, to keep the action closer, given the exceddingly short range of these aircraft (I'm more used to WW2 birds with MCUH longer legs). Mind you, it's not fully historical for the region (ie: parts that were in enemy hand in Real Life , are British controled. However, that is easily fixed (but would requrie a lot more work on the targets ini to remove some RA posts and such, and rebuild some of movements ini to compensate. Now, if we could just get TK to turn on the shipping lanes ...... wrench kevin stein

Help with ThirdWire sims and adding mods
Wrench replied to DEVIL11's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Here's some important questions.. did the game run withOUT any mods??? Did everything work and everything show up? At what patch level is the game at (CD versions may NOT be at the required 2008 patch level) Some advice ... play the game for several months, completly STOCK to get a feel for the game system, the aircraft, weapons, avionics, etc. Read the Knowledge Base we've worked so hard on for so long --from the first post to the very last-- Then, when finally comfortable with the game system then and ONLY then start adding small mods, one at a time. Work up to 'total conversions' like NATO Fighters. and always -a thousand times-- read the readme for install instructions!!! good luck! wrench kevin stein -

I was trying to import it into the WoV/E/I TE, got the texture set rebuilt, but for some reason the ocean isn't showing (the empty sea bits, but most of the costal tiles/transitions are. if you want, go ahead and send me the TODs. At worst, each of the city building that Stary laid out have to me moved. wrench kevin stein

Merged install question
Wrench replied to Bossco82's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
the limited nations statements in the terrain inis and aircraft users list usually prevent this HOWEVER.... since it is merged, can one assume you've run the SF2E and SF2V exes, thereby creating their seperate mods folders? In essence, create 3 complete and sepreate installs. (don't forget to create shortcuts for each!) It's easier to then add the SF2v expansion ONLY to SF2V mods folder, and NATO4 to ONLY SF2E's mods folder. Leaving the SF2, alone. It'll (SF2) will still have access to EVERYTHING, as it's the main or core game -- just look at your aircraft list; everything from all 3 are available from SF2. but having them seperated makes things just a bit cleaner, and easier to work with. wrench kevin stein -

Personally, I'd delete and reinstall. Better to just plane start fresh wrench kevin stein -
I can delete you for you; it's now a Moderator function ONLY oth, you could have just 'edited' the last upload, by using the 'replace existing file?' button I'll get it fixed! wrench kevin stein
