Is it possible to get AC serials?
Wrench replied to hynkel's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
makes sense to me!! if you don't want red, there's some blue borts I made somewhere's in the downloads section (skins? Decals? -disremember exactly where) If you're talking about Howling1/Madcaddie's old pak .. I'd cross CHECK everything, and possibly use newly extracted data ini for the MF (renamed/edited accordintly) to get the latest 08 flight models. That's what I did when I updated them a few years back. Correct models ARE actually needed -- if the F-7 has the rear window (which, iirc, it shouldn't) maybe the on by TMF could be used. wrench kevin stein -
Hangar / Picture for Mig-21R SF2
Wrench replied to paulopanz's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
why not do it 'WoE-style', with a screenshot looking straight down on the aircrft on the runway (like the ones I've been doing). I'll pass on my template, if you want it. wrench kevin stein -
Monty's Skyraider
Wrench replied to Cliff7600's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Prop Heads Forum
I don't have Raz's SPADs installed at the moment... I think they're named the same. So, in the announcement thread/reade say "For MontyCZs A-1H ONLY" or something like that. I do remember when I had them installed, I'd renamed the folder and main ini to "AD-4_Rz", and in the AircraftDisplayName= line AD-4 (Rz), so on the dropdown there'd be no confusion. Did the samy with Monty's, when I split it into USN and USAF version A-1H_USN A-1H_USAF and made the appropriate ini edits. Oddly enough, since we're using it for the KAW mod, I just discovered that Monty's has alwasy been a -4, as its missing the TACAN hump, rotary becon on the vert fin, and some other smaller details. But it has the -6 and later angled inboard pylons, whereas the 1 thru 4 used a straight type. also, with a new lod (to be released with KAW), makes a good BT2D, AD-1,-2, -3. Look closly and you'll see what's missing.... wrench kevin stein -

MiG-17 skin mis-mapped ?
Wrench replied to Panama Red's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
Su-7s (all of them!!) have also been remapped, so a lot of the pre-existing (ie: 1stGen) skins will "off". Skyhawks, too, I think, have had some mapping changed wrench kevin stein -
Is it possible to get AC serials?
Wrench replied to hynkel's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
DecalLevel=2 just look at how other decal inis do it. If youre ADDINIG new serials/ID numbers/etc, You must also have the individual Borts IN each decals folder of EACH aircraft, if you're adding them. BTW, the SoveitNums should be residing the WOI Object.cats. Edit the decals ini as seen on other Soviet-used birds and they should show up An alternative, would be to create a /Decals subfolder of the /Objects folder (just like WoE/SF/WoV used), dump the Borts in there and edit the decals ini to point to it the folder path would be: /Objects/Decals/*decalname* and in the decals ini, it would read [Decal009] MeshName=Fuselage DecalLevel=2 DecalFacing=RIGHT FilenameFormat=Decals/SovietNum Position=3.862,-0.065 Scale=0.8 DecalMaxLOD=3 the question is, why use sovite borts on arab aircraft? There's a possiblily of the game's Limited Nations statement not allowing any other nations than those present/allowed on the IME map. wrench kevin stein -

not sure of the question .... what was edited? Judging by the screenie, just loadouts. BTW, USN/USMC SPADs carried HVARs up until their retirement in/around 1966. It was the USAF/VNAF that used the RPs on the 6/7 (A-1H/J and 5 (A-1E) {source: Detail & Scale #67, and several other books on the subject} For uploading, just write a readme stating what was done, how to install (if someting needs backing up, etc). Zip it up, and upload the zip to the proper downloads category. Not much too it really! wrench kevin stein -

WoW!!! Advanced technology!!! HAL Industries announces their results in their new, experimental anti-gravity system. Based on repulsor-lift technology, it will allow aircraft substantial weight and maintence savings. By using micro-fusion technology, the generators can be fitted to almost any sized vehicle, land or air. The unit is expected to hit the mass market in 2020. wrench kevin stein -

Rail Bridge
Wrench replied to krfrge's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
if it's like the stock vBridges, one end must face 180 degs from the other. I always get it wrong on the first try! Also, using the HUDDebug, meaure the "lenght" end to end. The stock end are ~50 meters long, with the center sections being 100m, so if the bridge lays out like this... Target[011].Type=vBridge2 Target[011].Offset=5079,-842 Target[011].Heading=90 Target[012].Type=vBridge2End Target[012].Offset=5079,-891 Target[012].Heading=90 Target[013].Type=vBridge2End Target[013].Offset=5079,-791 Target[013].Heading=270 you can see they're approx 50 from the center of the main span That's a GOOD looking embankment on the end piece! wrench kevin stein -

in the fashion of a slight thread hijack, where EXACTLY can one find the "Vijay" CM pods, as used/needed for the Indian Floggers??? Looked through the 2 Flogger weapons paks, and couldn't find them. They're needed in the Indo-Pak mod. wrench kevin stein -

For those that don't want (or would rather not have) NF4, how about an upload of the updated data inis?? That way, it's just a few files that folks can drop into their installs?? Just a thought! wrench kevin stein -

And don't forget that ALL the Red Air birds are designed for AI only usage. We've tweeked them to player flyable. And they really don't have any armor whatsoever. Just look through their data inis, and compare them to their Western counterparts (like Fishbed/Fresco vs Phantom/Thunderchief). Translation: they're meant to be targets. 64mm of glass behind the pilot isnt' going to stop anything larger than 12.7. Whereas you have 12mm of steel bottom/left/right/rear on the F-4E. That JUST the cockpit armor -- not even talking about selfsealing tanks and the armor around them (which the Red Birds lack) Most ammo, 20mm and above, has been 'explosive tiped' since WW2. Most ammo below that is just a "slug" Admittidly, armor values on 90% of the AFV are way below consertive. wrench kevin stein -

II/JG51 skin for MontyCZ's S-99 (109G6)
Wrench posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
File Name: II/JG51 skin for MontyCZ's S-99 (109G6) File Submitter: Wrench File Submitted: 17 September 2010 File Category: SF2 Series Add On Skins II/JG-51 Skin for MontyCZ S-99 For SF2 WW2 MTO/ETO installs A fairly simple skin for Monty's S-99 (here representing the Bf-109G-6) as used in North Africa/MTO theatre by Jg-51. Simple, because II/JG51 didn't seem to use any stab marking or ID numbers, making this an easy skin. As always, READ the enclosed readme for full, detailed (and very simple in this case) instructions. This package has been broken down into the various folders that SF2 needs, to make it a LOT easier to install. Enjoy! Wrench Kevin Stein Click here to download this file -

P-35 = Dev A Team P-38 = Wolf257. They OWN their repsective 3DMax files, and are the only one capabable to "reworking" them. Now, if Wolf wants to donate the MAX files to another 3D Guru, so some tweeks can be made, great. Otherwise, things 'are what they are, and will remain so forever'. Unless new builds are created. Hopefully, DAT will take care of their stuff (eventually, given Real Life commitments). wrench kevin stein -
move into the movies, like Spriggan, Ninga Scroll, and one of my favorites, Wings of Honimisae (sp?)--that has a GREAT story, and superb action sequences I do remember rushing home from school in the early 70s to see RoboTech and sometimes, Starblazers (proud owner of the full DVD set of SB) wrench kevin stein
