  1. Yup. After I'd made my post yesturday, I went into my 08 WoE, redid the Ouragon's pit (all of 10 miuntes of work) with all the new bmps and stuff; works perfectly in Classic Series. Moved the Ouragon into SF2, and the damn thing craps out with the 'aircraftobject.dll' CTD. So, I think I missed something somwhere's....I'll fiddle with it later wrench kevin stein
  2. Mavi: I edited you post to remove the personal emial addy, and the all caps typing. If I remember correctly, the Phoenix should have come WITH the Tomcat, in it's download. Look for a subfolder called "weapons" or some such. If not, then you'll have to grab one of the various weapons paks. The Mirage Factory Weapon's Pak (available here) should have it included. If you've never added weapons (missiles and fuel tanks), PLEASE do read the thread linked above, to our Knowledge Base. If you've got any other questions, just ask! and Welcome to CA! wrench kevin stein
  3. A few dozen???? Shoot, by my count it's around 150-200, if you include all the sub variants everyone's made/got Yes, we are definatley awaiting the promised arrival of the WoI Suez Expansion pak. Even looking at SF2V's SPAD, hasn't really told me much (admitidly, I'm no genius with trying to decifer those parameters -- in fact, I'm pretty clueless as to what they mean!) Then, it's only a matter of finding folks willling to make the necessary adjustments wrench kevin stein
  4. I'm pretty sure mine's NOT a -7 (as those were ONLY built for the French Navy), and also pretty sure it's not a TMF product. wrench kevin stein
  5. File Name: Mitsubishi/Kawasaki Ki-109 File Submitter: Wrench File Submitted: 20 Sep 2009 File Updated: 20 Sep 2009 File Category: Axis Fighters Mistubishi/Kawasaki Ki-109 "Mike" - A "What If.." aircraft for WW2 PTO Install For SF/SFG/WoV/WoE Patched to 06 Levels =ONLY=!!! This is one of those fun little mods, based upon little tid-bits of data one comes across while doing other research. This makes the assumption that the few Bf-109E's that the Japanese Army Air Force had looked at (and this IS true), before the outbreak of the Pacific War, had actually be accepted for production. Also, if one does the historical legwork, one can find several documented "sightings" by Allied pilots of an inline engined fighter, that many called 'a Japanese Messerschmitt'. Obviously, some of these turned out to be the Ki-61 "Tony" (and many were later discounted due to our own lack of intell), but Air Technical Intellegence Units in SoWesPac gave the unknown aircraft the nickname "Mike", which really WAS assigned to suspected IJAAF Bf-109s. (If you don't believe me, Google "Japanese Me-109", and get ready to be surprised...) This is a complete aircraft mod, with everything needed to simply unzip, install and fly. I have NOT included the 109 ltr drop tank, as it's included in the WW2 Weapons Pak, available here at CombatAce. This mod includes 2 complete skins, representing Ki-109s from the 11 Sentai, 4 Chutai (which actually did exist). These skins are: Standard overall green, circa late 1941/early 1942, with yellow ID bands Mottled/Spotted green over natural metal, for 1943 through 1945 (the end service year), also with yellow ID bands. The aircraft are depicted as if serving in the South West Pacific areas of the Netherlands East Indies, Malaysia, Southeast Asia (French Indo-China), and later as fighter protection for the Fleet anchorages and fuel depots at Brunei. As historically, 11 Sentai did NOT use any individual identification numbers on their Oscars and later Franks, I've followed this trend, with only the Chutai designator displayed on the vertical fin and rudder. Yes, the bright green color IS the correct one for this Chutai. A new WoE-style hangar screen (only available with this mod!!!!) is included. Also, the canopy has been switched from the old-style "auto-speed" control, to one of the animation keys. It's set for key 10 (ie: Shift/0), that'll open and close it. NO other changes have been made to the flight model other than switching over to IJA machine guns and cannon (7.7mm and 20mm). A damage tga is also included, for that shotup look. -= NOTE: You MUST have the WW2 Weapons Pak to get the WW2 weapons and guns and such =- = IMPORTANT: This aircraft has been tested ONLY in 2006 Patch Levels SF/WoV/WoE. Be advised of the existence of some handling issues prevelant in WW2 era and many Pre-Patch (ie: 06 level) aircraft being used in the post 08 patch enviroments. It is NOT reccomended for use in WoI or SF/SFG/WoV/WoE in these post 08 patch game installs. It is also NOT reccomended for use in the SF2 'NextGen' series. If you insist on doing so, you do so at your own risk. No support is available from me for any issues you may experience. You have been warned/advised... As always, unzip this to a temp folder somwhere, and you'll have access to the rest of the readme for it's instructions. Good Hunting! Wrench Kevin Stein Click here to download this file

  7. Moved to proper Forum ------------------ Actually, a little bit more info is required. Like: Which game? Which patch level? Any Weapons/Gun pak added??? etc, etc etc...and so forth wrench kevin stein
  8. Actually, rethinking what I'd written above, you don't NEED to use a hexeditor for anything ... it's just a simple copy/paste in Photoshop for the various bmps and tgas. Download this Mig Pit Update Pak for SF2: http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?app=downloads&showfile=9178 and you'll see how I did it. You'll just need all the parts listed in that screenie, and your Generic Text Editor ™ for the cockpit ini edits. Obviously, you'll need one of the Classic Series to extract all the parts from, but that ain't nothing. wrench kevin stein
  9. No, I certainly can't blame anyone for trying!! Stil got LOTS to do ... haven't even started dialling in the lights; have to email Wolf257 and see if he still has the MAX files for the P-38 cockpit, as I need a 'nodename' to turn one of the gauges into a radar scope (usually a simple ini edit, IF I know the node...) More serial numbers, as I've one art that for some reason isn't showing (btw, several are 'inteperative', as I couldn't find a matching pinup in my collection or web search, so "Nocturnal Nuisance" gets a Natalie Wood pin-up 'fake' from my extensive collection of Fakes On "Blind Date", I was very lucky to find the actual Vargas pinup used, so I replaced the art from the scan with that one. I took a page from how Diego made his hi-rez pilot figures ... everything is done on a mulit-layer PSD, some of which run up to 8 megs!! So, slowly plugging along. I'll definately keep some people in mind, when testing is needed. Another few pairs of eyes is always a good thing wrench kevin stein
  10. Hmm...BuNum decals will be a bit of a stretch, as only 2 were built (at least that i know of). But, hey, decals is EASY!! Well, I have the Max file for MontyCZ's A-1H around here someplace (he was kind enough to send to me when I asked for some changes in his old model, which now has more meshes, folding wings and someother goodies -note to self: finish off the rebuild, write readme and re-release) It could probably be used as a starting point wrench kevin stein
  11. That's because the "MeteorCockpit.lod" is an edited version of the A-4B Skyhawk's, and has some sort of internal error. I'd try extracting the A-4B_Cockpit.lod from one of the TOS games, edit the cockpit ini, DOUBLE CHECK THE GAUGE BMP and TGA names in the lod with a hex editor, and try them. BTW, you'll probably want to pull EVERYTHING associated with the Scooter-B's pit, as you'll probably be doing some "copy/paste" of gauge faces from the "Metor**.bmp" to the Skyhawk bmps BTW, for SF2 there should be a couple of updated cockpits for the Migs, based off Ordway's work. In short, for SF2 the entire cockpit MUST be rebuilt from scratch, using the bits and bobs from the classic series, and then fiddled with the get the new instrument (ie: gauges, radios, etc) images onto the Scooter's cockpit bmps. It's not difficult to do; when I converted Ordways Mig Pits, it only took about 3-4 hours (including testing in SF2) Below is the "parts list". Mind you, as I'm showing it as 'list', you can't see that the gauges ARE repainted from Ordway's bmps wrench kevin stein
  12. There are 165 seperate tiles on the IsrealME map. Combined, they create the various terrain features. Without going into too much detail, the TE has a 'autotile' and 'autotransition' feature that more or less blends the matching tiles togethere (actually, usually LESS) To duplicate the satellite image above, you'll need to repaint every single one to match. Even then, expect to do a LOT of hand placements. I'm pretty sure there are a couple of replacement enhanced tilesets already in out downloads section. wrench kevin stein
  13. JASDF Typhoon!!! Oh, well done Ant!!! wrench kevin stein
  14. ALL Dev A-Team Products are ONLY available through their website. Questions should be directed there. wrench kevin stein
  15. Rambler: At present (until When and If TK releases the WoI addon) there's only ONE D model Mustang. Wolf257's, along with an A, B, and Malcom Hood C. In his WW2 Planes Pak, over in the d/l section. Those screenies above are RAAF stang's from the DAT's Wings of Timor mod. It looks like my decal trick for the exhaust shroud got used too! (using decals to fill in odd is stuff is a COOL trick!) wrench kevin stein

Libya Terrain Upgrade, Version 3.0 -- For SF/WoV/WoE and probably WoI/FE/SF2 Ok, I know, I know...I said I'd NEVER go back to this terrain, but since the 2.0 FINAL was released I've learned a bit more on how to use the Terrain Editor...to wit: There has been extensive retiling of many of the major areas on the map, replacing LOTS of mismatched or ill-fitting tiles. The entire coast of North Africa, from Tunisa to the Libyan/Egyptian border and been completely retiled with matching units. Sicily and Greece, and the 'boot' of the toe of Italy have also been extensively retiled. Approximately 75% of the map tiles have been replaced -BY HAND!!!!-, making a much smoother and better looking map. Unfortunately, a couple of the target areas required small location adjusments, so that had to be corrected as well. Included in the package are new HFD, TFD, data and targets inis. The data ini has been fully updated to make use of the terrrain effects as per the 9/08 & 10/08 patches. Adjustments to sea level and uping the Alpha Object count have also been implemented in the data ini. Some trees are around, but not as many as I'd like. You =MUST= have the orginal Libya 2.0 terrain to make use of the Update Pak. It's available in the CombatAce download section at the following url: http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autoc...p;showfile=6652 The targets ini in this pak includes the "Targets Hot Fix", and the new planning maps from that package. So, don't worry if you don't have the Hot Fix pack. So, really...consider this the Ultimate Final Version....I'm NOT going back to it again. Promise!! = This has been tested in WoE (my main Laboratory of choice..) As it was originally built for SF, no worries there. WoV should also be no problem. It -should- work in WoI and First Eagles, but you'll still need one of the Original 3 Terrains ™ for the terrain cat reachback. This, however, has =NOT= been tested. You use it in these games (WoI & FE) at your own risk. For SF2 users ... don't know what you to tell ya...you're on your own! = As usual, there's more relatively simple install instructions in the enclosed readme. So, give it a once over... Happy Landings! Wrench Kevin Stein
  17. LSFMFT??? Lucky Strike Fighters Means Fine Targeting ???? Couldn't find in the KB either, so I said 'write something silly' wrench ekvin stein
  18. To the best of my knowledge, there isn't one. One can, however, create their own ... it's not all that hard, but time consuming as all hell Just create new layers off the original skin bmp for each item (lines, rivets, details, etc), and save as a PSD (if using Photoshop). I should know ... I've built enough "home-grown" versions (insert crosseyed lunatic smiley here) wrench kevin stein
  19. Now, you'll probably have to repaint these tiles to get them to match the Malvinas, but these are the ones to look at: City-Farm-Sea1 City-Farm-Sea2 City-Sea-Farm1 Sea-Desert-Farm1 Sea-Farm-Desert1 Sea-City-Farm1 Sea-Farm-City1 I think that's all of them... wrench kevin stein
  20. 12 Jan, 1942 HQ, Darwin ATIU has reports of a new Japanese Army fighter plane, which has been reported sighted since the opening of hostilities. Very little is known at this time, although it's suspected that it may be the Kawasaki Ki-58. It has been given the codename of "Mike". Attached to this report is the first clear photo, taken by an RAAF Hudson on patrol over the Netherlands East Indies. As further information becomes available, this station will forward it to the appropriate agencies. ---- Just need to finish the readme, and if there's any interest, release it. wrench kevin stein
  21. Yah, still working on that ... can't quite figure out how AD did the mapping on the cowl, as it appears (when looking at the skin bmp), the bottom section is split between the top and bottom of map, and might not be fully symetrical. However, I DID manage to paint the rest of the oil cooler intatke to match, so it looks a little better. Nobody noticed the 'missing' item??? Remember, AD linked the canopy animation to the "H" key ... and there's something NOT dangling off the tail (which may be added back, just in case III 9/JG2 get assigned to GRAF ZEPPELIN or PETER STRAUSER) wrench kevin stein
  22. Copy the "propdisc.tga" from the -3 or -4 wildcat, and drop it into the MAIN aircraft folder and the VF-26 skin folder. It appears that someone forgot to add it to the package.... (insert whislting smile, that seems to have disappeared).... wrench kevin stein
  23. Also, one mustn't forget that technology transfers don't exist in a vaccum...it's a 2-way street wench kevin stein
  24. That would be my suggestion. That decal trick works a charm for ALL kinds of things!! wrench kevin stein
  25. Empty Desert Terrain

    Version

    706 downloads

Empty Desert Terrain for SF/SFG/WoE/WoV, possibly FE & WoI, and SF2 Series This is a 98.6% stripped down version of the STOCK SF desert terrain map. By that, I mean that every target area, citywise is still there, and all but 2 airfields -one large airbase for each side- has been removed. The cities themselves have been cleared out of all 'targets of value'. This creates a fairly 'clean' map, and still allows for ALL mission profiles. However, Strike missions will be confined to the enemy airbases, as no 'valued' targets exist elsewhere on the map. CAS, Armed Recon, Recon, Anti-Ship and all the Fighter mission statements, CAP, Sweep, Intercept are all still valid. This was done to create a fully operational map, where mission/campaign/terrain targets builders can have a relatively clean slate to experiment and test their various projects. This package ONLY contains the inis necessary to get up and running -- there are NO terrain tiles included. As the cat pointer line 'reaches around' back to the existing Stock Desert.cat, this should pose no problems for End Users ™ that already have the needed stock terrain. However, edited Planning Maps for all 3 levels are included. For those End Users ™ WITHOUT the stock SF/SFG/SF2 desert terrain, you'll have to obtain terrain tiles. There are plenty to choose from in the CombatAce downloads section. My preference would be Photo-Real desert by Polak: http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?app=downloads&showfile=4461 These are REALLY nice tiles, and enhance the look. The additional cat pointer lines for GermanyCE and VietnamSEA exist, but are commented out. See below for more information of "Selecting the Proper Cat File". It has been tested in SF, WoE and WoV, post 08 patch levels. It should work in FE & WoI (also post Expansion Pak and Post 08 Patch) with the correct cat pointer and existence of the stock SF Desert Terrain -- this has NOT been tested, however. It also works in SF2, as long as you adjust the cat pointer lines in the main ini. It should also be noted the inis herein are in ANSI coding, and may need conversion to Unicode for use in SF2 NextGen series games. This has NOT been tested, as the stock SF2 desert inis ARE still in ANSI. As always, it's reccomended you unzip this archive to a temp folder, or you desktop, to gain access to the rest of the readme for full, detailed install instructions. Happy Landings!
