2 Handsome Killerbees ?
Wrench replied to charlielima's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Don't know why I had AL on the brain... Making the 331 larger is an easy fix in the decals ini. The BuNum tag under the stab says AD-6 (well, it's Monty A-1H, and as far as I know, that's a -6!!) I'll see what i can do with the stripes....find that one for the Scorpion and repaint it!! yes, I have a history of NOT wasting good decals!!! wrench kevin stein -

Wrench replied to ordway's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
A small request.... if possible, can it also be tested in SF2, if it supports the HUD stuff??? 'cause I can't get any of the 17 or 19 pits to work .... game keeps crashing. Hate to be pest/annoyance/whiner ___ fill in the blank. Just asking! many thanks for ALL your hard work, ordway! wrench kevin stein -

dummy me... you actully said that in the first post... this one should be a little better BuNums aren't a problem, as I have the FULL listing for very one assigned from 1910 to ~1988!!! Just which goes with whom... if the stripe in near the canopy, I think it can be done as a decal, like I did on one of the Scropion skins. If it's further aft.....I'm out of meshes!! or just make a whole bunch of ALs with the numbers attached... wrench kevin stein -
AD-4 Skyraider, Version 2.0
Wrench posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - File Announcements
File Name: AD-4 Skyraider, Version 2.0 File Submitter: Wrench File Submitted: 26 Jun 2005 File Updated: 20 May 2009 File Category: A-1 Skyraider AD-4 Skyraider, Korean War Era, Ver. 2 for SF/SFG/WoV/WoE/WoI and possibly SF2 & SF2:V Updated to Version 2, Uploaded 5/20/09 Modifications and reskins for MontyCZ's A-1H to create the eariler AD-4 Skyraider, as used during the Korean War. This version is designed to TOTALLY replace the one I released in 2005; a LOT has been updated. It is also designed for use in a Korean War Era install -- although it's quite workable in any era up to 1956, when the US Navy changed the color scheme. It is also redesigned for use in the post-08 patch environment of the above mentioned games. Instructions for back-dating to 06 levels are in the "Notes" section below. There are 2 brand new skins, still representing VF-194 and VMA-121, during the Korean War, but based off new templates, with some enhancements from Royohboy's AdA Skyraiders, all new decals for modex and semi-historical BuNums. I say 'semi', as these ARE in fact, REAL BuNums as assigned by BuAer to AD-3/4s, but I was unable to ascertain exactly which were assigned to each squadron's aircraft. So, consider them as rather generic AD-3/4 BuNums, but accurate nonetheless. NOTE: these skins are also designed to REPLACE any earlier versions!!! The VF-194 skin is a redo of that from the original release, with all new decals. The VMA-121 skin bmps are new, and also gets all new decals. I believe the original skin/decal set was done by Volksjager. For those that might be wondering, yes, there are 2 more skins in the works.... This is a full, complete add on aircraft mod, with all the goodies necessary. Along with the new skins and decals, there's a heavily modified/repainted/tweekificateded A-4E cockpit. (more below in "Notes" on an alternate for those that wish a more beautiful, functional and fantastic cockpit). My old 'artwork' style Korean AD Hangar Screen is included; all the artwork was done by the legendary R.G. Smith, who worked for Douglas, and was more or less the Official Company Artist. Small data ini edits add a landing light, a few more running lights. Edits to the landing gear make this aircraft fully functional in the post-08 patch world. It should also function pretty well in SF2/SF2:V. This has not been tested by me however, as I don't have either of them yet. It's fully carrier rated, so mission and campaign builders can do their thing. Once we get the new Korea map.... Designed for use with any weapons pak, the 2 necessary addons, the AN/APS-4 radar pod and 300 gallon tank are included. What is NOT included, are the HVARs, 250, 500 and 1000 lb WW2 era bombs. You WILL need to have these available via one of the weapons paks. However, a "new" weapons has been added - the 260 lb AN-M81 Fragmentation Bomb as used by the Navy. Expeciallly usefull for those pesky CAS, Armed Recon and SEAD mission (and historically used by Panthers in the flak suppression roles) As always, unzip this to a temp folder somwhere, and you'll have access to the rest of the readme for it's instructions. There's alss a little 'ooopsssy. For the VMA-121 skin, the Num013.tga is missing ... somehow I forgot to make it. Ive attached a little zip with the missing number just unzip it, and toss the tga in the VMA-121/D folder. (for the classic series .. SF2/V users know what to do) sorry about that! wrench kevin stein -

sumpting like this maybe???? (see below) I looks like they can ALL be decals ... but Im at the limit of 4 right now for the 'tail' mesh. The rudder still has room to grow. I need more data... like what color is the tail stripe in CL's photo above, and if there's any more info on the BuNums, if that's at all possible and if the modex number is carried on the upper aft section of the rudder (like the Navy guys) also, the b/w phots is for our flyers in SEA ... something that could be added via data in edits. wrench kevin stein this'll work good in OTC ... -

Wrench replied to ShrikeHawk's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Yeah, seriously... if it's the Migs, there's a boatload of FANTASTIC Fishbed cockpits, if it's Fresco and Farmers, we got them covered too, by ordway's pits. The LARAF Mirage is also a simple edit, using the stock ones, or TMFs Mirage5 pit. Just look in the D/L section under "Cockpits". The WoI Hunter will be a problem, as the Hunter's pit from WoE isn't included, but I've coverd that somewhere in KB as well. let me find the link, and post it here... EDIT: link to Arab Hunter & Others Cockpit section in KB, WoI Weapons & Other Tweeks Forum: http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?showt...st&p=139056 read the thing through a few times; you can even print it out or copy/paste to a notepad sheet. All the data you need is right there wrench kevin stein -

Once again, for all the new members: DO NOT POST QUESTIONS IN THE KNOWLEDGE BASE!!!! -- it where you go to find answers. ONLY -------------- To the question at hand, in our downloads section, for the SF/Wo*/SF2 series, you'll see a listing for 'Weapons Paks and Mods" or something like that... in there, in fact, the 1st one listed, is 331KillerBee Monumental Work "SF2/V Ordanance Shop". Weapons pak for the new series. here's a direct link: http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autoc...p;showfile=8921 wrench kevin stein -

Wrench replied to charlielima's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
The only issue I can see when trying to decal it (using Monty's A-1H), is there's not quite enough meshes -- it's just "tail" for everything aft of the wing root. Of course, one could easily make the VL and BuNum one decal, and just have a 'extra' blank VL with no number. The star will have to be painted on, but that ain't nothing....all the positions are already plotted Would it be safe to asume the aircraft name label/BuNum under the horizontal stab would be something like: A-1H 123456 ???? wrench kevin stein -

Weird propeller Engine problem
Wrench replied to i fight by 1's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Model issue, with the prop. More than likely, there is NO "off" texture (as that's not implimented on the 06 patch level) . BTW, it does that when shot full of holes, too, and the engine is 'dead' Just ignore it wrench kevin stein -

Problems with SF2...
Wrench posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
OK, finally bit the bullet and got my copy of SF2. So, obviously I want to add a couple of planes and make the MiGs flyable (and Su7 too.) Oh, and BTW, as you read this you'll see I'm more than a little pissed off... So....following the usual procedures -hell, I WROTE the frakking tutorial on "how to" for the Classic Series...and and g-d-f**king game keeps crashing out with an 'aircraftobject.dll' fault. Ok, I says, lets got over this step by step.... move Ordway's cockpit folder, check move the inis, check open the inis and 'save as...' unicode, check add the lines to the main aircraft ini, check AND... the POS keeps crashing with the same dll fault. checked for any missing items ... loadout is stock (Mig17F and 19S); no pilot changes as I've not figured out the crazy new extractor to pull the data inis --gods, we a single file extractor!!!!- add the sound files to a (newly) created /Sounds folder So, I says to meself, lets try adding a complete aircraft, in this case, the NK Mig-15bis. No sweat, I think...copy folder to the mydocs/etc/blah/blah folder....open all the inis, save as unicode, create a /Decals folder, create a "MiG-15bis_NK" folder to drop the /D folder into (btw, do the skin bmps go there too???) And guess what ... the same s**t happens!!! So ... can one of our "experts" outline, IN DETAIL, the ENTIRE procedure for 1) Getting the AIs flyable with the addon pits we have and 2) Outline the procedure for adding aircraft. with pictures, if possible for us dumb-s**ts. Also, anyone tried running the old gundataini through the new gun editor??? I've been following all the threads, perhaps not a closly as I should have (as I was/am/still is hesitant about this "new" system - 7 years of learning how to do things right out the f***ing window ... so much more difficult the 'old' way ... a single aircraft folder with all the necessary parts right inside. Now, scattered to the 8 winds of Time and Space. Great step forward here...) so, in essence the post is a Gigantic plea for HELP!!!!!! wrench kevin stein -

Problems with SF2...
Wrench replied to Wrench's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
I should have clarifed ... by 'misplaced' I should have said 'displaced'...the pilot position dosn't match with the external model. In using the Scooter pit, you have this for the position: Position=0.0,4.437,0.658 when it should be this: Position=0.0,2.50, 0.73 been trying to edit the ini, but it keeps crashing out. so, i've been spening ALLL day zipping and backing s**t up, just in case I want to try a 'repair OS install' or some other insane action Mabye I should start pricing a larger, newer HD....just in case.... 1 terabyte should be ok for a week or 2... btw, other than the decals not showing on the F-4N (and crashing when I try to edit the decals ini and move the decals to a folder it won't let me create --crash--), it work perfectly with all the WoE extracted bits for the cockpti and aircraft lods. I"m gonna try to edit it OUTSIDE the folder, then move it back in. Flys great, too! wrench kevin stein -
Problems with SF2...
Wrench replied to Wrench's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Exactly what I did ... copied the ENTIRE cockpit folder for the Fagot ( ), with all the bits inside -- bmps, tgas, lods, etc. still no go. I'm going to extract all the Phantom bits, and see what happens with the F-4N...just for gigles. Like l'm not getting frustrated enough... wrench kevin stein -
Problems with SF2...
Wrench replied to Wrench's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
yah, the nt one pops up fairly rarely ... mostly get a crash due to 'explorer.exe', as I leave the damn thing open all the time ... I'm pretty sure this maching needs a striping and reinstall of the OS (maybe???) but it's stable everywhere else. And yes, I'm always alarmed -- Natural Jewish Paranoia Using genric notepad, like I always have. BTW, just before the nt crash, I was able to save the Mig17F ini pointing to the A-4Bs cockpit, and it does work. Albeit far misplaced... But I don't see any reason why Ordway's pits, inis, etc DON'T ... if others are getting them to work. Other than simply missing something... maybe XP sp2 just don't like unicode??? Or at least my machine. wrench kevin stein -

That's the _HM.bmp issue I mentioned before... follow the link below: http://wrench1smog.com/tmp/black_desert_hm_bmps.zip these are all the desert _hm.bmps repainted black, which gives them 0 (or flat) height. Unzip, and toss them into the I2 folder. That sure cure it. wrench kevin stein -

I"m on XP, if that's any help... but this keeps happening too... (1st screenie) every time I save an ini.... and even with deleting the 'adjusted' MiG15bis and just dropping in the other, it crashes. (see 2nd shot) -- I just took these, it's current. I'm absolutely clueless as what happening here... wrench kevin stein -
