  1. No stock terrain has the files floating around in the folder; you'll only find the main ini and X_terrain cat file. Like Ed said, they're stored inside the cat file...that's what's for. Think of it like the Windoze cab files; an easily accessable archive, designed to save space. A little further exploration will show that NONE of the stock objects (aircraft, ships, vehicles, etc) have any of their various inis in their folders as well You just use the handy dandy extractor tool to pull them out, make whatever edits are wanted, and leave them in the folder. The game engine looks into seperate, individual folders first, then into the varying cat files. Which is one reason you can have multiple inis, say an F-4E data ini, with only a NationName= change, and create a nation specific aircraft. Wrench kevin stein
  2. Since the Libya Upgrade is nearly done, and the Balkan map(s) is well under way by others, I'd LOVE to see more of the aircraft from the region.... HAF Mirage F.1 -- well, more Greek birds at any rate! LRAF Mirage F.1 -- definately more Libyans (btw, Dave's Mirage 5 tweek works really well here, too) Moroocan F.1s, .... Definately need more AMI birds too! I'd take on the Libyan F.1, but don't have a template! Don't suppose anybody's got one to share?? So, how about some skinners popping out a few new birds???   3. So you're asking "where's the SEA camo love" Mike??? The skin's easy enough to do...just use the stock one (I have the template with the mouth paintedout). I'd actually thought about doing that at some point. The HAF Blue Rhino will definatily be released for everyone, not to worry on that account! We could use the 104G in that camo too for them...just picked up the 'Warpaint' book on the Zipper ... nice profiles in there, along with serial numbers and such What would really be cool if we could talk the Mirage Factory into tweeking their Kurnas lod to remove the refuleing probe..theirs has the TISEO 'lens' on the port wing Wrench kevin stein
  4. Often, things won't work in WoV that work in SF, WoE due to NOT having the proper terrain tiles. That is easily fixed by, yup, adding a tileset with the WoV naming conventions. There should be a thread about this in the KB, originally by Dave, with some additional information by me in a 2nd post. As to being able to have a air start, as opposed to ground start, this again goes to missing items on the ground. If you're NOT on the ground, the engine dosen't need to load them. (BTW: that's also a good way to test terrains, when you've not flattened all the airfields yet!) Wrench kevin stein
  5. Don't forget the Yak-9, as NK had some of those. There's also the 'possibility' of Yak-15s, or 23s as show in a famous RG Smith paining of a F3D Skynight downling a Yak.   7. 96.8% of all the helos were created by the Dev A-Team. Unfortunately, they were removed at their request. They are still available, however, through Capun's site. You will need to sign up for 'memebership' -and it free-, but the all the mods are to be considered 'memberware', and are not available for public download. In the old days, when we had to have the cat physically in the terrain folder, it had to match exactly the name of ini (and the terrain folder), as do the TFD and HFD files You could try renamining them all to match (expecially the TFD & HFD). I did this for the 'winter thaw' version of ANW, and it worked perfectly. So... rename TFD & HFD to VietnamSEAGH.TFD and VietnamSEAGH.HFD should do something good...and I wouldn't worry about having the cat in the folder, just use the standard pointer line in the Vietnam GH ini Remember, folder and files can be named anything you want, as long as they all match.     Lybia Terrain; Updates, Fixes and General Mayhem Version 2.0 =FINAL= No more updates after this release!!! This is mostly a 'fix' of the targets, types, and movements inis. It replaces ALL PERVIOUS VERSIONS of the Libya map. It is a FULL terrain, with everything needed to just unzip, drop into your game of choice, select the proper terrain cat pointer (more below), and go fly. That means that EVERYTHING is included - tiles, inis, the usual suspect terrain items (factory place, truck depot, country flags, etc). It has been tested in SF, WoV and WoE. It should work in WoI, as long as one of the original terrains is present, and the cat pointer adjusted to 'look' for it. -- This has NOT been tested! It has been rebuilt, with corrected placements and flattening of the Libyan airbases, renaming of some target areas, and an EXTENSIVE expansion of the target's themselves. Due to terrain considerations, there are several airbases that are NOT in their Real World ™ locations or have the proper runway configuration. But they're pretty damn close! All the inis, especially the movement, have been rebuilt to change the semi-functional Anti-Shipping mission placements to something that works, and the addition of several Ground Attack routes from Tunisia. As you can expect, there are several 'Easter Eggs' scattered around the map. Have fun finding them! It is also reccomened you have the latest Weapons Pak (either one should be ok), Pasko's Ground Objects, and Kesselbrut's Vehicles Pak. I haven't acutally placed their objects, other than the HAWK batteries, but they're nice to have. See "Notes" below for information about Stock & 3rd Party Ships. Bf-109T2 (albeit with short, stock E wings, and no spoilers) RCAF F-100 SuperSabre (that ain't such a hard tweek) F7U-3M (kinda -- trying to figure out if I can release it, as it's Marcellos???) SCG Talon (skin and decals - new nose art!!) I assume we're NOT including 'nationalized' mods of existing aircraft ... this post would go on nearly forever!!! Some screens... Dont' forget Sparky also wants a pony...or maybe Alyssa ON a pony or something else I won't go into here.... anyway, got a package from the A #1 skinner, and here's the result: Sundowner sent me his HAF Phantom pak to finish off...and this skin is AMAAAAZZING!! The only thing I'd want to do is figure out the font and text size, and add about 10-15 more serial numbers. Some more ini tweeks, and the extended numbers, and we've got a bird!   16. Well, having gone over both versions (I've an F.10 version for SWOTL/PropColdWar I've never released), added the TRUE line to fueselage show, added a prop tga from the Jug, and still nothing. I belive the model itself may be lacking the pointer in the LOD that describes the prop tga, from internal views only. Since it's still considered a Beta, and never really finished, this might be a small something we have to live with. Also, if anyone is interested, I have a small mod of the cockpit ini that adds a lead computing Mk.III sight with new sight tga. Wrench kevin stein

  18. Torpedoes don't work in this game...they're really an EOGR, set to fly at nearly zero altitude. Have at look at the Beagle T, and the WW2 torpedo bombers (Beau, Beaufort, Kate, Jill, TBF/TBM, etc), to see how's it's 'faked' Of course, you could always set the weapon to NOLOD, but then nothing would show up under the wings.   22. Not available in player-flown missions, single or campaign. That's one of the 'mission profiles' never implimented, although it's one of several possible (like Air_Assault and a few others). Perhaps something for a future patch (hopefully before the next asteroid impact...) However, I know that YAP has some in their packages... Wrench kevin stein
