  1. Ok, here's some shots from all over... Mind you, they're still using the 'old' tiles (ie: Polaks Desert), as I haven't received the new ones yet. Some could still be considered 'test shots' during object placement ... as shown by the 'debug' data in the screenies. I've tried to use as many 'stock' objects as possible, plus the usual suspects (truck park, industrial center) Wrench kevin stein
  2. You need to use the latest "Soviet Silver skin", as the lod's mapping has been changed, as well as all the data ini stuff. Please, do take a look in the Knowledge Base, all your next questions are answered there...I'm just..... .... ..... .... anticipating the next ones Wrench kevin stein
  3. Why are you still using a wheel gun??? This is the 21st Centruy...autoloaders have been around for quite some time now. AND...you can use the trigger guard to open beer bottles (or lock the slide back and do it that way.... ) Wrench kevin stein
  4. http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autom...ode=sst&id=5476 File Name: Ki-21 "Sally" Skins and Ini Update Pak File Submitter: Wrench File Submitted: 6 Nov 2007 File Updated: 9 Feb 2008 File Category: Japanese Aircraft File Version: 1.00 Website: No Information Mitsubishi Ki-21 "Sally" Skin & Ini update package for SF/WoV/WoE WW2: PTO installs This little package will upgrade Wolf's IJAAF bomber to fit more with current standards of loads, lights. It includes 2 skins, the first for 12 Sentai as seen in Southeast Asia (Thailand) circa 1943, and the second for 98 Sentai, Phillipine Islands, for most of the war.. The skins have newly redrawn panel lines, 'interperative' rivets added (meaning I claim no historical accuracy for their placement), simulated fabric surfaces, simulated fuselage windows, plus general dirt and weathering added. This package contains tweeked data ini that corrects some loadout diffuculties (not being able to carry the full bomb load), and adjusted running lights. Also included is a 'new' wav file for the engines. Remembe, you must have the latest weapons pak to get the WW2 bombs and guns and stuff!!! Please read the enclosed readme for full, easy-to-follow install instructions and other stuff. Enjoy! Wrench Kevin Stein Click here to download this file

  6. Along that same vein, I'd like to give you an example from the 'not messing with something when you don't know how it works' department.... I was just fiddling with the TE, to try to flatten some new airfields in my 'Modern Darwin' map.... and destroyed it!!! There goes 1 1/2 months of work (and yes, NO backup!! -- hence, again the importance of backing things up!!!) Keeps crashing out with a 'terrainengine.dll' fault, which means I did something to the HFD or TFD files. Here's the weird bit....they were originally the stock tfd and hfd from Edwared WW2 Darwing terrain; the only modifincations were to the types and targets; copying the ones from the ww2 install does nothing....still crashes out. Where's that brick wall again??? Wrench kevin stein
  7. And who ever said I was sane????? HF: I really like that image!!! Wrench kevin tein
  8. FC: you looking for the German underwing pods?? If so, I have few drawing (albeit not very good....) I'll see if I can pull the images out of the pdf books. Wrench kevin stein
  9. That is very cool...looks like something for the old 1960's "Johnny Quest" cartoon. I likes it!!! Wrench kevin stein
  10. You ain't lying there, brother!!!! I was (and may still be) cross-eyed from laying out stuff, going in game, checking placements, backout, adjusting, back in, checking..... There HAS got to be an easier way!!! Fortunately, some of the larger target areas (oil fields) are in one big block, so you just need the center coords to drop it into. That and Google Earth for the general locations . I even put stuff on Falika Island (east of Kuwait City) just for grins. My orders from Dave were "fill it with all kinds of nasty things" or words to that effect. btw, a lot of the new target areas are to be found on the revamped Irian/Irag map too. Why waste all that work??? Wrench kevin stein
  11. More than one way to do it, too.... Wrench Kevin Stein
  12. How about an Li-2 'Cab'?? Unreleased full aircraft mod, minus the upper turret Wrench kevin stein
  13. Did you add the rack to the loadout ini??? The game engine wants to know..... The data below is used as an example, from the Whisky Cobra: [Attack] Loadout[01].WeaponType=BGM71 Loadout[01].Quantity=4 Loadout[01].RackType=TOW_Pod note rack callout - must have, or no rack!! Loadout[02].WeaponType=BGM71 Loadout[02].Quantity=4 Loadout[02].RackType=TOW_Pod Loadout[03].WeaponType=LAU-3A Loadout[03].Quantity=1 Loadout[04].WeaponType=LAU-3A Loadout[04].Quantity=1 Edit accordingly Wrench kevin stein
  14. did you change the dates in the options ini and singlemission ini????? Wrench kevin stein
  15. What's you're start position? ie: where are you arriving from? Do you have it set to 'start near target'? That'll cause it sometimes, as you 'spawn' on top of the enemy flights. Try starting from the runway (on ground) or 'in the air', which puts you over your home field. As the the few battleships we have, they're only WW2, and set as 'WARSHIP' so for the most part, they won't show up, as you're probably flying waaaay beyond their end-of-service dates. More modern ships (Spruance, Koni, RN Frigates, etc) are also set as WARSHIP, and probably won't show up. If you change them to 'Cargo_Ship', I remember there was a problem with only being able to have 4 of the type, including the Oil Tanker and stock Cargo Ship. You could always add the ww2 Liberty ship, as it's set for 'cargo_ship', and is 'GENERIC' in nation type, so it's used by everyone. And I think it shoot's back, too. Somebody (Fubar or Sag???) created a mod of them that have SA-7s...so look around here for that one too. Plus working radars that'll drive you RWR nuts. Wrench kevin stein
  16. http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autom...ode=sst&id=5456 File Name: N1K2-J 'George' Skins & Ini Update Pak File Submitter: Wrench File Submitted: 3 Nov 2007 File Updated: 9 Feb 2008 File Category: Japanese Aircraft File Version: 1.5 Website: No Information N1K2-J 'George" Update For SF/WoV/WoE WW2: PTO installs This is an update to Wolf257's N1K2-J "George" IJN fighter. As stated, this mod, consisting of 2 new skins, data and loadout ini mods is designed to update things to the most current standard. Weapons loadouts have been adjusted for "Imperial Japan" usage, lights have been repositioned, and some tweeks to the data ini, mostly in hardpoints, loadings and an enhanced AI section added, along with switching over to 'metric' readouts for those that play with the info sections visible in the lower left corner. The first skin represents 343 Kokoutai - all 3 Squadrons-, Genda's "Squadron of Experts", in the Home Defense role circa early 1945-to the end of the war. I've redrawn all the panel lines, added my 'interperative' rivet lines (meaning no claims to accuracy are made!), worn and dirtied it up some. Individual aircraft numbers are 'best guess' based on a few profiles, and some info I've gathered on IJN numbering sequences. Therefore, 100% accuracy is NOT claimed for these as well. Skin #2, ie "IJN2" represents aircraft from the Yokosuka Air Group (couldn't find the number), and is very heavily weathered. (my first attempt at the 'peeled paint', so be kind! - I DO have some ideas on how to improve it.) Included also is a repainted bmp for the Zeke cockpit (as it's used on the George), that 'hides'' the MG breeches, kinda. I've even enclosed my George hangar and loading screens, for those that don't already have them. They're the same ones, so if you've got them already...no biggie (just so's ya know), and the damaged tga for the shot-up look. The screenshot above, is the 343 Kokutai skin. ==REMEMBER: YOU MUST HAVE THE LATEST WEAPONS PAK INSTALLED TO GET THE WW2 WEAPONS!!== PLEASE read the enclosed readme for full, detailed install instructions, plus various notes, commentaries and general mental wanderings.... 18. Might I inquire as to the purpose of that post, Aligator Devil??? It added nothing to the discussion, albeit historicaly interesting Keep it on topic Wrench kevin stein
  19. Actually, you're gonna WANT to extract the data ini from the object cat. There are more changes than just the positions of the pilot, weapons mounting and afterburner emitter. Several flight parameters where changed or had things added it. Doing so will allow you to add the line: UseMetricData=TRUE to the [AircraftData] section. This gives you an, obviously, metric readout in the little info windows, and matchs the metric displays on those superb Fishbed cockpits. And, of course, all the weapons have been updated to the latest weapons pak. Which means if you do so, the campaign ini will be 'broken' as BOTH sides now have counrty specific weapons and loadouts. This means you'll need to update the individual aircraft's loadout inis Take a look in the Knowledge Base, in the "Weapons Fixes and Loadouts Thread"...all the work has already been done for you by me. All the MiG fixes are there. Remember, too, the entire map has gone back into the shop for a complete rebuild; ther are now 3x the target areas, new movement ini, new objects, etc. I just need a terrain guru to fix & flatten some items....then have a campaign guru fix the campaign ini. Wrench kevin stein
  20. Static aircraft parts (lod, skin, ini - which it may not needed*) can be in the terrain folder, then added to the terrain targets and types ini. This is asuming they have NOT been converted to ground objects. The long, involved, tedious, mind-numbing process of then 'laying them out' begins. Example: look at the WW2 terrains for parked aircraft on both sides. Wrench kevin stein * when I placed the vehicle depots in the DS and WW2 Lybia mod map, all I needed were the entries in the targets and types ini, as I was using vehicles that were already set as 'ground objects'. Interesting to note, the parked tanks in the DS map will try and engage you with their main gun!!!
  21. http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autom...ode=sst&id=5440 File Name: Ki-43IIb "Oscar" Mod File Submitter: Wrench File Submitted: 29 Oct 2007 File Updated: 7 Feb 2008 File Category: Axis Fighters File Version: 1.00 Website: No Information Ki-43IIb Hayabusa "Oscar" For SF/WoV/WoE WW2: PTO installs This is a modification of Wolf257's Ki-43 into the later version, the IIb as used by the IJAAF. This is a semi- complete aircraft mod, creating a new version for use in your World War 2: PTO installs ONLY!! I say 'semi-complete', because pursuant to Wolf's wishes, the aircraft LOD file is NOT included (you'll have to transfer it over from the exisiting Ki-43 --make sure it's Wolf's Ki-43, NOT ArmourDaves!!. Almost everything else is included; all the inis, an new skin, hangar screen and my damage tgas as well. The cockpit itself is NOT included, as you'll be using the one from AD's A6M5 Zero. The skin represents 204 Sentai, in the Home Defense role circa 1944-to the end of the war. I've redrawn all the panel lines, added my 'interperative' rivet lines (meaning no claims to accuracy are made!), simulated fabric control surfaces and dirtied it up some. As this is a natural metal skin, it has no worn-off green camo. Individual aircraft numbers are 'best guess' based on a few profiles. Therefore, no accuracy is claimed for those as well. PLEASE read the enclosed readme for fully detailed, step-by-step install instructions, plus commentaries and general explanitory notes. Enjoy! Wrench Kevin Stein Click here to download this file
  22. Only in the data ini!!! I told it, in the engine section, that is has 3 blades Unfortunately, we have to use the model as is; wolf only did it with the 2 bladed version (actually, so is AD's, but it has the correct exhaust position; the single large outlet on each side - mines only painted on!) sorry, best I could do!! 23. File Name: I-16-10 Rata Skin & Ini Update Pak File Submitter: Wrench File Submitted: 1 Nov 2007 File Category: WW2 Aircraft Polikarpov I-16-10 CAF update package for SF/WoV/WoE WW2: PTO installs This little package will upgrade Wolf's cute little Soviet fighter to fit more with current standards of loads, lights and cockpit. You'll be transfering files from another of his WW2 Planes, so make sure you have them installed. I've included a newer version of Wolf's Chinese Air Force skin. The skin has newly redrawn panel lines, 'interperative' rivets added (meaning I claim no historical accuracy for their placement), some weathering and general dirt added. But -- the credit for the original skin is STILL with Wolf; all I did was fiddle with some eye candy bits. This package contains tweeked data, loadout and cockpit inis. The cockpit ini (now called "Rata_Cockpit.ini) is a copy of the one from Wolf's Tomahawk/P-40B, as it has a better look for this aircraft (albeit not perfect, but workable). You will be transfering the cockpit folder from the Tomahawk for use in this aircraft. The ini has had the pilot positions adjusted to match the I-16, plus some 'moves' courtesy of what I've learned from Lexx_Luthor. I have also included a small (25kg) WW2 Soviet bomb, that comes with the Dev A-Team's IL-2, so you'll be using the weapons editor to add this as well. ==NOTE: YOU MUST HAVE THE LATEST WEAPONS PAK INSTALLED TO GET THE WW2 WEAPONS!!== =You MUST Also have the WW2 Nations Ini to have the correct nations= PLEASE read the enclosed readme for fully detailed, step-by-step install instructions, plus the usual notes, commentaries and propaganda Enjoy!
