SBD-3 Dauntless, VS-41 "Operation Torch" Skin and Ini Pak for SF/SFG/WoV/WoE MTO Installs (06 Level ONLY) Version 2 This skin represents aircraft from VS-41 "Tophatters" as seen aboard USS RANGER during Operation Torch, the Invasion of North Africa. This is a complete and utter replacement/revamp of a skin I released 2005; it has been completely redone using my enhanced template, repainted in the proper Non-Specular blue/gray, and has all new decals of the proper font re-created. All new Modex/Plane-in-Group numbers for 18 aircraft, 'generic' BuNums and aircraft type name decals have also been made. I say 'generic', as they ARE SBD-3 BuNums, but could find no information on the aircraft assigned VS-41 during Torch. A new 'carrier deck' hangar screen, more specific for TORCH, is also included. Included is a modified data ini, with a 1942 start year, for use in a MTO =ONLY= style install. More info is below in the 'To Install' section. -= NOTE: You MUST have the WW2 Weapons Pak from CombatAce to get the WW2 weapons and guns and such =- -== This aircraft has been tested in SF/WoV/WoE 06-patch levels (actually 06 WoE) of the aformentioned sims. It has NOT, however been testing in the SF2 Series. But it if works in 08, it works there, too.. There still are some 'issues' with prop-plane flight models, but there has been a MARKED improvement!! You use it in these Post Patch/SF2 Environments at YOUR own risk ==- As always, it's reccomended you unzip this package to a temp folder or your desktop, or somewhere's else that's easy to find to gain access to the rest of this readme for full, detailed install instructions. It's also required that you actually READ the enclosed readme.... Good Hunting! Wrench Kevin Stein

  13. AD-4N/NL Skyraider

    Version

    2,957 downloads

AD-4NL Skyraider, Korean War, VC-35 UPDATED to Ver 2 for SF/SFG/WoV/WoE/WoI and SF2 & SF2:V, too This version is designed to TOTALLY replace the one I released in 2005; a LOT has been updated. This has a brand new skin, still representing VC-35 "Night Hecklers" during the Korean War, is based off new templates from Royohboy's AdA Skyraiders, all new decals for modex and semi-historical BuNums. I saw 'semi', as these ARE in fact, REAL BuNums as assigned by BuAer to AD-4NLs, but I was unable to ascertain exactly which were assigned to VC-35's aircraft. So, consider them generic AD-4N BuNums. This is a full, complete add on aircraft mod, with all the goodies necessary. Along with the new skin and decals, there's a heavily modified/repainted/tweekified A-4E cockpit. (more below in "Notes" on an alternate). Small data ini edits add a landing light, a few more running lights. Edits to the landing gear make this aircraft fully functional in the post-08 patch world. It should also function pretty well in SF2/SF2:V. This has been tested, and acts just the same in SF2 as is post-patch WoE. It's fully carrier rated, so mission and campaign builders can do their thing. 2 new -only available in this mod!!- carrier deck Hangar Screens are included. Both are the "WoE-style", but for the SF2 series, that one has the blackboard removed. Also, a new damage tga for the 'tail' section has been created. Designed for use with any weapons pak, the 3 necessary addons, the APS-31 radar pod, AN/ALT-7 ECM pod, a small 50-ish gallon and 300 gallon tank are included. What is NOT included, are the HVARs, 250, 500 and 1000 lb WW2 era bombs. You WILL need to have these available via one of the existing weapons paks!!! As always, unzip this to a temp folder somwhere, and you'll have access to the rest of the readme for it's instructions. Good Hunting!! Wrench Kevin Stein

AD-4 Skyraider, Korean War Era, Ver. 2 for SF/SFG/WoV/WoE/WoI and possibly SF2 & SF2:V Updated to Version 2, Uploaded 5/20/09 Modifications and reskins for MontyCZ's A-1H to create the eariler AD-4 Skyraider, as used during the Korean War. This version is designed to TOTALLY replace the one I released in 2005; a LOT has been updated. It is also designed for use in a Korean War Era install -- although it's quite workable in any era up to 1956, when the US Navy changed the color scheme. It is also redesigned for use in the post-08 patch environment of the above mentioned games. Instructions for back-dating to 06 levels are in the "Notes" section below. There are 2 brand new skins, still representing VF-194 and VMA-121, during the Korean War, but based off new templates, with some enhancements from Royohboy's AdA Skyraiders, all new decals for modex and semi-historical BuNums. I say 'semi', as these ARE in fact, REAL BuNums as assigned by BuAer to AD-3/4s, but I was unable to ascertain exactly which were assigned to each squadron's aircraft. So, consider them as rather generic AD-3/4 BuNums, but accurate nonetheless. NOTE: these skins are also designed to REPLACE any earlier versions!!! The VF-194 skin is a redo of that from the original release, with all new decals. The VMA-121 skin bmps are new, and also gets all new decals. I believe the original skin/decal set was done by Volksjager. For those that might be wondering, yes, there are 2 more skins in the works.... This is a full, complete add on aircraft mod, with all the goodies necessary. Along with the new skins and decals, there's a heavily modified/repainted/tweekificateded A-4E cockpit. (more below in "Notes" on an alternate for those that wish a more beautiful, functional and fantastic cockpit). My old 'artwork' style Korean AD Hangar Screen is included; all the artwork was done by the legendary R.G. Smith, who worked for Douglas, and was more or less the Official Company Artist. Small data ini edits add a landing light, a few more running lights. Edits to the landing gear make this aircraft fully functional in the post-08 patch world. It should also function pretty well in SF2/SF2:V. This has not been tested by me however, as I don't have either of them yet. It's fully carrier rated, so mission and campaign builders can do their thing. Once we get the new Korea map.... Designed for use with any weapons pak, the 2 necessary addons, the AN/APS-4 radar pod and 300 gallon tank are included. What is NOT included, are the HVARs, 250, 500 and 1000 lb WW2 era bombs. You WILL need to have these available via one of the weapons paks. However, a "new" weapons has been added - the 260 lb AN-M81 Fragmentation Bomb as used by the Navy. Expeciallly usefull for those pesky CAS, Armed Recon and SEAD mission (and historically used by Panthers in the flak suppression roles) As always, unzip this to a temp folder somwhere, and you'll have access to the rest of the readme for it's instructions. Good Hunting! Wrench Kevin Stein
  15. The radar hump should be green. I can't remember what the bmp is called; and I'm at work and don't have any SF stuff here. There was a lod problem a while back. Can't remember what the fix was, but make sure you have the latest weapons pack. Also, search the weaponsdata ini for the PFU's radar goodie...that should help you see if you've got all the right parts Wrench Kevin Stein

Douglas BT2D "Dauntless II" Version 2.0 - for SF/SFG/WoV/WoE WW2 PTO installs patched to 06 levels -ONLY-!! Updated to Version 2.0, Uploaded 5/18/09!! -- NOTE: this package is designed to TOTALLY replace my original release from 2005, in it's entirety!! -- This is a complete reskin and redecaling of MontyCZ's A-1H Skyraider into a "What If..." variant of it's predecessor, the BT2D "Dauntless II", had it been available for use in the world of WW2: 1946, in the Pacific Theatre. This version, as stated above, replaces the original. It's gone through some updating, but still remains pretty much the same. All new decals have been created (and properly done THIS time!) with correct Modex, and new BuNums. The BuNums themselves are actually AD-1 series numbers, but as the BT2D was renamed in 1947 TO the AD-1, this poses no historical conflicts. A new skin, with appropriate weathering, based of new templates, is also included. Some other 'fixes' include the renaming of some bits in the data ini, so's they 'disappear' when not used, and the addition of more formation/running lights and a landing light. The aircraft depicted in the mod represents BT2Ds of VA-19A, the first squadron to recieve them, and be carrier qualified (that part really is true), aboard USS Coral Sea in 1945. This is a COMPLETE addon aircraft, with all necessary parts, including an excessively repainted version of the A-4E cockpit (it's the closest there is -- see NOTES below for alternates). For those not having the WW2 Weapons pak, the AN/APS-4 radar pod and 300 gallon AD Blue drop tanks are included. = IMPORTANT: This aircraft has been tested ONLY in 2006 Patch Levels SF/WoV/WoE. Be advised of the existence of some handling issues prevelant in WW2 era and many Pre-Patch (ie: 06 level) aircraft being used in the post 08 patch enviroments. It is NOT reccomended for use in WoI or SF/SFG/WoV/WoE in these post 08 patch game installs. It is also NOT reccomended for use in the SF2/SF2:V new series. If you insist on doing so, you do so at your own risk. No support is available from me for any issues you may experience. You have been warned/advised... As always, unzip this to a temp folder somwhere, and you'll have access to the rest of the readme for it's instructions. Also included, at the bottom of this document, is the Alternate History essay, telling the story of the Dauntless IIs use against the Home Islands. Good Hunting! Wrench Kevin Stein

SBD Dauntless, VB-6 USS Enterprise, Battle of Midway Skin set, Version 2.0 - For SF/WoV/WoE WW2 PTO Installs- 2/11/08 This is a complete and utter replacement/revamp of a skin I released 2005; it has been complete redone using my enhanced template, repainted in the proper Non-specular blue/gray, and has had all new decals of the proper font created. "Plane-in-Group" numbers for 18 aircraft, BuNums and aircraft type name decals have also been made. This is desinged to REPLACE, in it's entirety, that original version. Nothing in there is even worth saving!! If you don't have it, good for you!! It was the very first skin/decal set I'd ever made.... -= NOTE: You MUST have the Bunyap Weapons Pak of 6/06 to get the WW2 weapons and guns and such =- -== This aircraft has been tested in SF/WoV/WoE and post-patch WoI (8/08) as well as post 9/08 & 10/08 SF/WoV/WoE. There still are some 'issues' with prop-plane flight models, but there has been a MARKED improvement!! You use it in these Post Patch Environments at YOUR own risk ==- Relatively simple, easy to follow instructions are in the enclosed readme!! Happy Hunting!!! Wrench Kevin Stein EDIT: reuploaded with corrected decal.ini!!!
  19. Glad you found it. And even gladder that it worked on the Fishbed. Another suggestion, albeit not particualry accurate, would be to use the A-4E's pit, as it's single engine with a radar display. Or even better, get 'Herosussr' zip {I think you can get it here}, as it has a super Fishbed cockpit! Wrench Kevin Stein
  20. EF-4C Load fixes

  21. Returning to Groom Lake & Area 51, after a nice time in the Vegas casinos...... This little bird is ssooo cool!! Flying it makes me think I'm in one of the 1950s "B" ufo movies!! Thanks simon!! Wrench Kevin Stein ps: note the 'Galactica' pilot
  22. I had similar issues with the 'built for myself to see if I could do it' mod of the AD-4N version. There seems to be some strange numbering sequences. Had a hell of a time trying to get the "radar" pod {actually the Ekco pod from the SeaHawk} to show up on the correct pylon. It's only for show....the radar/avionics are from the A4E. Since Bpao is doing a full version of this, I never released it. I just did it to see if I could. Just as an experiment Here's a shot: As you can see, the radar pod is just there for looks. Can't wait for the real one! But the loadout and data ini sections for loadout do need some help. Wrench Kevin Stein
  23. HOW many machineguns???? 12???? Oh, my! You Heinkel and Dorniers better look out!!! {when we get them, that is!!} Great job by all you guys!! Wrench Kevin Stein
  24. So. Dave, where's Ras Assayna on that map???? Wrench Kevin Stein
  25. Been fooling around with the 'fuel dump' as a flamethower for the M-113 and I have a simple problem.... The flame effect isnt showing up. Like some of the folks at SimHQ that have tried it, I'm one of the unlucky ones that can't get it to work. That is to say, it's there...and the vehicles DO shoot at the enemy; I got sound and the light flash, but no flame. I also believe that although it's treated as a gun, no real damage is being done to the target. So other than the no visual, methinks the damage inflicted might need some upscaling. Anyone that wants to give it a try, I'll be glad to send the data.ini for the M113-Zippo. Don't forget to extract a copy of the M113.ini, and copy and rename it to "M113-Zippo.ini", as we're using all the original lods and textures. {NOTE: tried posting the dataini, but the board thinks all brackets are UBB code, and I'd have to change every one them, and you'd have to change them pack.} Thanks for looking, folks. Hopefully, someone can get it working, and tell me what I did wrong! Wrench Kevin Stein
