re: DC-4
Is that John Wayne in the copilot's seat?????
Many, many thanks!!!!
I've been putting the statics directly into the terrain folder(s), but inside their own sub-folders. We've been able to do that for ???? some time ??? and it makes not only for a (slightly) cleaner more organize folder, but does allow for textures to be linked directly to a lod, even when same names are used (example are some C-130s I've using)
Souli: not flyable (or flying) , but a static Terrain Object. But thanks for the links!!!

trust me, ya don't wanna go down that road. while not a difficult, even if each is in their own folder -- and this would have to be the way it's done, AND each lod would have to be uniquely named, with matching uniquely named textures, it's not really worth it. (i've already ran that road, with C-130s, and trust me on this)
Note the Caravell next to the Connie, while it "should" have Air France markings, don't. So it can be used anywheres.

It'll have to be rebuilt as a static, so slats and flaps aren't needed. Thinner nacelles would be good, but for 'eye candy', it can slide. Just landing gear. Don't even need airliner livery, maybe a stripe. I've removed all such from parked statics, in keeping with the 'generic type'.
Here's the Connie at Lisbon's international. Looks perfect!!!

YES!!! Those would all come in handy for something, at some time for somewhere!!! The 121 series for Southeast Asia definately. IIRC, russo's Connie is the alphasim...wonder if the textures will work? Well, downloading now
Thank you sir!!!

I wish we had the 737. For 1970s-to date, they're EVERYWHERE!!!
-
Same here, by JimBib
707, 727, 747, 757, 767, "regional jet" (uses Russo's static Sukoi super jet as it smaller than a 737), Caravelle, DC-8, DC-9, Comet, Concord, Tri-Star, A300 series. There's also a Learjet 25
Plus if you know where to look, a DC-3 from "somebody else" (not DAT). I also have some other, made from other things.
Please note, the 707 is the -300 version, and has 2 different versions, one is PanAm the other is BOAC. They're based off the TMF 707.
A lot of these WILL be showing up in the "Espana" terrain rebuild when I get finished with it.
What I'd love to see, is more prop jobs -- DC-4/6/7 series, would love a Constellation (one of the most beautiful birds ever to grace the sky). Also, more general aviation birds; Cessnas, Pipers, wherevers. On any side of the fence. Those of us that build terrains, have a really good sense of "what can go where" based on stock 3W airfield parking slots, and how to avoid them.
As to helicopters ... that's a tale for another day ... (for other reasons)

I totally agree with Gepard. I only added my comment, cause I'm lazy
Built tooooooooo many things as individual items. But his does look better!

It's not your fault -- we've been having issues with the board's software for several months. I took care it :)

If I may be so bold, as to suggest to the original poster to download and explore one of the many Weapons Packs we have that bring many of the missiles and other weapons more in line with the Real World (tm), when and where possible.
Enjoy!
(btw: NICE collection of vehicles!!!!
!!!)

I've asked for that announcement to be added MANY times -- it needs to be clearly stated. Having it so, would make it easier for new(er) members to understand the situation. Unfortunately, I don't have access to edit such things. If I did, I sure would!

Gepard did the air defenses, I'm just doing 2 bases (well, unless he needs more help, which I doubt)
Here's a couple of shots of Nakon Phanom , TAE and in-game. (you can see the differences) Nightmare trying to find good map of the base layout. So, some "things" are conjecture. I'll pass all this along (albeit in VNSEA) to Gepard this weekend. He'll have some retiling to do for both these bases (read: expand the clear airbase zones)

not just the new tools (TAE expecially!!), but lots and lots of new terrain objects; buildings and such, and most important, the improvements in our own skill levels!!!

Haven't downloaded it yet, but it should be easy to adjust the year spread in the DRV.ini. If it has this statement (taken from VietnamSEA.ini)
[AllowedDates]
StartDate=8/2/1964
EndDate=4/30/1975just simply change the end year
===
I added the perimeter roads to Ubon, and now working on Nakon Phanom. Should have it, with luck, but the end of the week

I've got a PSD with USAF style serials. Makes things super easy!
I've included it in the last dozen or so mid-60/70 skins I've done.
I've attached it here, so have at it. You should be able to figure out the layering, and add any needed number digits (you'll see)

Gepard, please check the last couple of post in this thread:
I have some things you might like!!

More work done, and Ubon is 98.6% finished. I just 'test flew' a mission, and I don't think the parking slots are listed or fully correct, as nobody showed up. Here's some images, one from the TAE, and 2 from in-game. (yes I added a couple of parked helos from my seemingly never-ending supply)
Moving on to Naked Phanny next

just for grins and giggles ...
I found 2 air bases rebuilds in the 1stGen downloads. Just for my own satisfaction to see what's what, I put the Ubon into my VNSEA test terrain (ie: not modded). Took a bit to find all the bits, and figure out the "add to types ini" text was misnumbered -- we all know what frustration THAT causes!!! -- finally got the image below (as viewed in TAE)
I can see that right off, it's missing a butt load of roads interconnecting the various sections of the base. But I think that can be fixed with either the "rollwegs" used as roads, or there are 3 different roads available in one the of the "Airfield Dev Kits". (100, 200, 300m in lenght). They are, unfortunagely, only straight in direction. Those can be renamed, hex edited and retextured pretty easily.
There's also an NKP, but I'll look at that one later.
Adding them to DRV should be just a simple matter of copy/paste the billion and a half parts, and replacing the VNSEA coordinates with those from DRV.

ActiveYear=
InactaiveYear=
In the _targets ini for that location, but ONLY in the top section. Be advised, the TAE has a disturbing tendency to NOT use the InactiveYear statement when use on a single item (found this out the hard way)

Gepard, if i may make a suggestion ... there are lot of "tropical" looking items in the Object Library 1 in the downloads section. Since it was designed for WW2 in the Pacific, a lot of those items are easily translated over the SEA. I also have a bunch of the smaller buildings (mostly barracks and warehouse types) retextured.
Just a thought for when you get down in the dirt building the things!
