  1. F-84G Thunderjet, Imperial Iranian AF

F-84G Thunderjet, Imperial Iranian Air Force
    =For SF2, Any and All (Full-4 Merged Reccomended/Preferred,etc)=

A simple addition for the recently released F-84G Upgrade Pak.

This skin represent all aircraft as used by the IIAF during the 1950s and 60s, until they were replaced by F-5As sometime around 1965ish.

All new historical serial numbers for the 75 aircraft were created, depicting the 3 squadrons of the Wing that operated them from Mehrabad (like, how hard is it to do 3-01 thru 3-75???).
Decal radomization is set to TRUE, so be at whatever patch level is requried (post May/June/whatever!)

As always, fairly easy to follow, detailed install instructions are included. So, please read them!! The expected "Notes" section as well, for those interested.

    Happy Landings!

  2. F-86 Sabre Pack, Pakistani Air Force

F-86 Sabre Pack, Pakistani Air Force

    = For SF2, Any & All =

-An additon for the India-Pakistan Mod-

This package contains 2 complete aircaft mods of Sabres for the PAF:

F-86F, as delivered 1957 (in natural metal)
CL-13B Sabre 6 as "delivered" via Iran in the mid-1960s.

The Sabre 6 comes with 2 skins, Euro camo and overall green for No.18 Squadron. All serials
for both versions are 100% historically correct.
New skins for all were created using ravenclaw's beyond superb templates. All skins are in
jpg format. Decal randomization is true. New DDS damage textures are included, as are all new
SF2-style Hangar and Loading Screens. No weapons are supplied, other than the drop tanks, as
these use all stock in-game items.

An all new, SF2-compliant FM was created for these aircraft; it flys like it should!

As always, fairly easy to follow, yet detailed install instructions are included. Please READ
them! Also, the "Notes" section for a more detailed change/correction list.

  3. F-86E Sabre, 54th FIS "The Hunters" ver.2.0

    F-86E Sabre, 54th FIS "The Hunters" ver.2.0

    - Version 2 for SF2 -

Based on the movie "The Hunters" (as if you didn't know!!!)

A revamp and cleanup of my original "The Hunters" F-86 Sabre skin. This pack WILL replace any eariler version you may have.

While designed for the F-86E, it can be used on any late version (E or F). However, the movie clearly shows the aircraft to be E models (as evidenced by the opening montage, and the all-flying tail, and wing slats). If used on other variants, editing of the decals.ini will be required.

Not much really changed; skins are now jpg format (rebuilt from ravenclaw's SUPERB template), decal randomization is TRUE. The 51st FIW checks are now painted on, and the 'squadron color' zap is a ficitonal white stripe above the checkerboard. Pilot names decals have been moved slightly forward. Also, the 54th is now a Fighter Interceptor Squadron, not a Fighter Interceptor Wing (even though the sign in the movie shows it as a Wing).

    Enjoy!

  4. F-86E-10 "The Hunters" Pak

F-86E-10 Sabre, 54th FIW "The Hunters" mod for SF/WoV/WoE/WoI

This is a small mod, and reskin, of the F-86E-10 released by Bob "howling1" Hauser several years ago; which in itself is a mod of Zur's F-86 Sabre. I've included Bob's original readme, so you can see his comments.

This is a complete aircraft, with all the trimmings. EVERYTHING is here to allow you to just unzip, and fly off to MiG Alley. The cockpit ini has had a little mod that includes the K-14 A-A and A-G gunsight tgas (seen also in several other WW2 & Korean era aircraft I've released)

There are 2 skin included, a slight revamping of the original "USAFSilver1", fixing some decal issues, and one of the most wanted Sabre skins of all time: The 54th FIW, as seen in the motion picture "The Hunters". Serial and buzz numbers for the first 14 aircraft come right from viewing the DVD, the others are 'leftovers' from another Sabre skin I did. Pilot names have been added to the canopy rail, so you can fly as your favorite character from the movie, or famous people from the 3rd Wire Sim community. Damage tgas have also been included, just it case Casey Jones shows up and shoots you full of holes....

A revamped/cleaned up version of my "Sabre1_Hangar" is also included.

== You MUST have the Bunyap Weapons Pak of 6/06 to get the WW2 style weapons ,and the Sabre drop tanks. I've not including any of them. So, if you're using the TMF weapons pak, you'll have to import the needed items. ==

The aircraft has been tested in SF/WoV/WoE. Other Sabre versions work fine in WoI, so you should have almost no problems with it, if installed there. But again, 'use at your own risk'. That's CYA for me!

Please read the included "readme" file for install instructions. Also, the usual "Note & Comments" by General BS

  5. F-86F Sabre, Spanish Air Force

F-86F "Sabre", Spanish Air Force (EDA) Mod

This package contains a complete aircraft, based on Zur's F-86F, as used by the Spanish Air Force, Ejército del Aire, during the late 1950s through approx 1965, when most were replaced by F-104G 'Starfighters'.

As stated, this is a COMPLETE nation-specific airplane, with all the trimmings, ready to unzip and fly away. It contains a new natural metal skin and decals for 18 aircraft. It represents Ala 1 at approximately 1959-ish ;) There are some small mods to the cockpit, namely my K-14 sight set (as seen on "The Hunters" Sabre mod), and the addition of an audio-only RWR (track sound ONLY). It is designed for use with ANY weapons pak, or none at all. The drop tanks are included, for those that don't have them, in the post-patch style of seperate folders.

Loadouts are standard USAF style; with the exception of Sidewinders. Historically, the EDA =did= upgrade their Sabres in the early 60s to the late F-40 standards, with the inclusion of the AIM-9 capability. This is still intact, but the loadout is adjusted to NOT give them to you right off. If you wish them, you'll have to edit the loadout ini or load them manually.

Included is a new sound "JetEngine2.wav", that has a more whiney turbo-jet sound than the stock JetEngine sound. Also for your enjoyment, is a new WoE-style Hangar screen -only available in the mod!!

This aircraft was tested in Post-Patch (9/08 & 10/08) WoE, it should work just as well in SF, WoV and WoI. Be advised, the FM might need a little tweeking for the new parameters post patch, but I've encounted no real adverse characteristics. It flys real nice as is!

For once, there's a pretty simple easy to follow readme (was that a sigh of relief I just heard??) But, still, PLEASE read the it!! As well as the expected Notes and Other Nonsense section for comments and the like

  6. F-86F-40, 461st FDS, USAFE

F-86F-40 Sabre, 461st FDS, USAFE skin for SF/WoV/WoE

Just a simple, natural metal skin for Zur's Sabre as used by the 461st Fighter Day Squadron (ex-527th FBS) after the experiment with camoflague ended, and the aircraft were transfered to the new unit. Timeframe is approx 1956-58-ish.

Included are new serial and buzz number decals. The Black Bar/Diamonds is borrowed from USAFMTLs camo version for the 527th. The serial numbers are actual F-86F serials, but I claim no historical accuracy if they were used by this squadron.

See the enclosed readme for super easy install instructions (for a change!)

  7. F-86F-40, Imperial Iranian AF

    IIAF F-86F-40 Sabre Aircraft/Skin Pak

    =For SF2 & SF/SFG/WoV/WoE and maybe WoI @ 08 Levels and above=

This package creates a 'nationalized', stand alone aircraft for Zur's F-86F-40, representing Sabres as used by the Imperial Iranian Air Force in the 1960s/70s. aka "Swords of the Shah". Designed to fill in a small gap, between the Imperial Iranian AF prop-jobs (P-47s), and the third sets of jets (F-5A/B/Es and Phantoms; the first set being straight-winged F-84s, and these Sabres that replaced them). This nationalized version was created for specific reasons, outlined in the "Notes" section below.

The skin is a basic bare-metal, with serial number decals for 18 aircraft (standard squadron). With information so scarce, some "WAG" had to be used. The number conventions follow those as seen on F-5s and F-4 Phantoms, and a profile I found online, so should be relatively accurate.

As always, -READ- the enclosed readme for full, highly detailed, step-by-step install instructions. For those wishing to install to 1st Gen games, =PLEASE= make double damn sure you read the special section for you. I've tried to keep it as simple a possible, while covering all bases.

  8. F-89 Scorpion Pack for SF2

    F-89 Scorpion Pak for SF2 6/4/2010

    -- Version 2, 3/3/2016 --

This package includes the full set of F-89 Scorpions, from MontyCZ's original C & D version, PLUS the variant mods I'd created, giving the H, J (Early) and J (Late). The various readmes for the sub-variants are included in their specific aircraft folder, just for historical purposes.

This package has been peaked and tweeked for use in SF2 =ONLY=, and is NOT designed for use on SF/Wo* series 1st Gen sims. It makes use of certain elements found ONLY, and usable ONLY, in SF2.

Everything is included -aircraft, inis, skins, decals, weapons, pilots. =EXCEPT= a cockpit. Due to changes in SF2's internal coding, these aircraft now make use of the stock in-game F-4B via ini edits that through sorcery now reach back into the cat files, and create usable cockpits without the need of a cockpit folder. How this works, I don't know or care; but that it =does= is a wonderful thing!!

On such aircraft that have operating canopies (those that use the F-89D lod), the canopy works via the Standard Manual Animation Keystroke ™, shift/0.

This package is designed to REPLACE the original set, and will drop right over it, providing you have it already. If you don't, no worries! Just install as normal.

As always the standard, fairly easy to follow, yet detailed install instructions are included. Please READ them!

F-89C Scorpion 57th FIS Skin and Ini Update Pak for SF, WoV & WoE

    Happy Strike Fighters 5th Anniversery!!!

This little package will give you an revamped skin, based off Volksjager's original, with a full set of updated inis. To make life easy, just about everything is inculded. Exepting the aircraft itself -- you should already have that!!! ;)

--Please Note: this skin is designed to replace the skin folder marked "2" in your original install--

The 'fues1.bmp' has been repainted (from a new template created by me from the original bmp), new decals have been added for the serial, 'buzz', and individual aircraft numbers for 25 birds. This skin represents aircraft from the 57th FIS, "Black Knights", during the mid-1950s.

Modified main, data, cockpit, avionics and loadout inis are included. These reflect changes to operational uses as seen in the "Weapons Fixes and Loadouts" thread I maintain here at CombatAce.

NEW damage tgas are also supplied -- what? you think those Tu-4 gunners are going to sit there and let you shoot them full of holes????
And just for fun, my old Hangar screen is suppled as well.

  10. F-89C, 74th FIS Skin and Ini Pak

F-89C Scorpion 57th FIS Skin and Ini Update Pak for SF, WoV & WoE

This little package will give you an revamped skin, based off Volksjager's original, with -yet again!- some updated inis. (sorry about that...see "Other Notes" below for more details)

-- Please Note: this skin is designed to replace the skin folder marked "1" in your original install --

All the skin bmps have been repainted (from new templates created by me from the original bmps), new decals have been added for the serial, 'buzz', and individual aircraft numbers for 25 birds. This skin represents aircraft from the 74th FIS, 23rd FIW, as deployed as part of the Alaska Air Command, during the mid-1950s. I've even added the wingwalks I forgot before, some staining, and various stenciling around the aircraft

Newly updated data and loadout inis are included. These reflect changes to the unguided HVAR rockets, of which you'll be getting a new one (similiar to what I recently did for the MiG-17PF, PF(SP-16) and F-89D). So, be prepared to use the weapons editor, yet again!!!

This is the last of the original skins to be updated. We can now move on to other things!

  12. F-89D Scorpion, 64th FIS

    F-89D "Scoprion", 64th FIS skin for SF/WoV/WoE

Forgot I'd finished this, and forgot to upload....

Just another skin for Monty's F-89D Scorpion. This represents the 64th Fighter Interceptor Squadron, approximately 1956, when based at Elemendorf, AK.
The squadron leader, Capt. Arthur Bourque, has his aircraft carrying the nose art that was carried on his P-61 'Black Widow' during WW2.
100% accuracy is NOT claimed on the serial numbers (excepting Capt Bourque's aircraft), but they are actual production numbers as used on D Scoprions. Some might even be the right ones!!!

Simple install instructions are in the enclosed readme.txt.

  13. F-89D Scorpion, 75th FIS Skin, Ini, Weapons Upgrade Pak

F-89D Scorpion 75th FIS Skin and Ini Updates Pak for SF, WoV & WoE:

This package will give you an revamped skin, based off Volksjager's original, with a full set of updated inis. To make life easy, EVERYTHING is inculded. Excepting the aircraft itself -- you should already have that!!! ;) Basically, this is a rebuild of the ENTIRE weapons system for this aircraft,

-- Please Note: this skin is designed to replace the skin folder marked "1D" in your original F-89D install --

All the skin bmps have been repainted, using new templates created by me, based off Volk's original skins. I've duplicated his original work, so all credit goes to him for skin creation...I've basically just redone them to make use of the new panel, rivet lines and new decals created by me for the serial and buzz numbers

Modified main, data, cockpit, avionics and loadout inis are included. These reflect changes to operational uses as seen in the "Weapons Fixes and Loadouts" thread I maintain at CombatAce.

The weapons have been completly revamped, using a trick found by Lexx_Luthor over at the 3rd Wire boards, concerning multiple FFAR installations.

NEW damage tgas are also supplied -- what? you think those Commie gunners are going to sit there and let you blow them full of holes????
Brand new, and available in this mod only -- Hangar and Loading screens!!

You -WILL- be using the Weapons Editor to add the new FFAR rockets...make sure you have the latest version, the one that came in the 6/06 Weapons Pak.

== You MUST also have the latest Weapons Pak installed.==

PLEASE read the enclosed readme for fully detailed, conscise, step-by-step install instructions. It's designed to make your life just a little easier...

  14. F-89H Scorpion

    F-89H Scropion For SF/WoV/WoE:

This package is a modification of MontyCZ's F-89D into the later H model (with wing-tip rocket pods and 'internal' Falcon missiles)
It is a semi-complete package, including everything needed, -excepting the aircraft LOD files. You will have to transfer them over from your F-89D's.

Included are all the needed inis necessary to create the new aircraft. The skins included are for the 437th FIS based at Oxnard CA, circa 1957-ish, a repeat of the 75th FIS skin from Pesque Island, and a generic USAF natural metal.

All the skin bmps have been repainted, using new templates created by me, based off Volkjager's original skins. I've duplicated his original work, so all credit goes to him for skin creation...I've basically just redone them to make use of the new panel, rivet lines and new decals created by me for the serial and buzz numbers.

Included also is a brand new WoE-style Hangar screen, only available with this mod. Damage tgas are here as well.

== You MUST have the latest weapons pak installed to make use of the needed missiles ==

--You should also have already installed the F-89D Update, which includes the new version of the Mk.4 Mighty Mouse FFAR -- the weapons data for this rocket is NOT included with this package!!! --

  15. F-89J (Late) Scorpion

    F-89J (Late) Scropion For SF/WoV/WoE:

This package is a modification of MontyCZ's F-89C into the late-model J (those without wing-tip rocket pods)
It is a semi-complete package, including everything needed, -excepting the aircraft LOD files. They are NOT included, as I consider it 'wrong' to do so, without permission from the original author. (and it's against CA policy to do so)

Included are all the needed inis necessary to create the new aircraft. 2 skin folders are included, complete with decals, representing the 178th FIS, NDANG 'The Happy Hooligans', and a generic USAF natural metal.

All the skin bmps have been repainted, using new templates created by me, based off Volkjager's original skins. I've duplicated his original work, so all credit goes to him for skin creation...I've basically just redone them to make use of the new panel, rivet lines and new decals created by me for the serial and buzz numbers.

  16. F-94B Starfire, 449thFIS Skin and Upgrade Pak

F-94B "Starfire" 449th FIS Skin, Decal & Ini Updates for SF, WoV & WoE

    Hello Fellow Fliers!!

This little package will update the original skin for the 449th FIS, by adding new individual aircraft serial and buzz numbers for 26 aircraft. There are also 2 replacement skin bmps, as I had to repaint them to remove the painted on lettering.
It is designed to =replace= the existing skin, with the addition of the new decals. Some of the original decals are reused, and therefore are NOT included. See below in the "TO INSTALL" section for full instructions.

This will give you a nice skin, with the Arctic Red trim for those especially cold climates...such as found in Alaska or NW America. --- and let me tell, ya it really looks good against the snowy backgrounds!!!
Historical accuracy is ONLY claimed on the first 4 serial & buzz numbers, as they were the only ones I had photos of.

Also included is an updated data ini and the cockpit ini that will allow you to use the F-86D cockpit in your Starfire. The cockpit itself is NOT included, you'll have to copy over the cockpit folder from your Sabre-Dog. All inis and a few usefull bmps are provided, to make the switch over as easy as possible. This is Lexx_Luthor's fix, and all credit goes to him

PLEASE!!!! read the enclosed readme for full, detailed, step-by-step instructions, and listing of credits.

  17. F-94B Starfire, Generic USAF

F-94B "Starfire" Generic USAF Skin for SF, WoV & WoE

A "plain old garden variety" natural metal skin for Pasko's F-94B 'Starfire'. I created it from new templates, based on both the F-80 and F-94 skins (there are several identical bmps between them). It represents no actual squadron, but is closest to the 68th FIS. Hence, the generic "USAF" tagline.
This would be a usefull skin for a Korean-era aircraft, or for any time frame in the early 1950s.
New serial and buzz number decals were created as well, which are based off aircraft serial numbers. The numbers are all actual serials and buzz nums, as issued by the USAF

New damage tga's are provided, for that 'shot up bullet holes' look, if you let the enemy get close enough to shoot you!
A new Loading Screen is also provided. It's a nice color picture I found on the net

PLEASE read the enclose readme for full install instructions and general nonsense.

  18. F/A-37A Talon, Stargate Command

F/A-37A Talon, StarGate Command Skin & Decal Set

This is another one of the Projects that's been languishing on my hard drive for sometime.
Basically, this is just a redecaling of the stock Air Force air-superiority gray.
It's a 'What If..' skin for a What If airplane, as used by Stargate Command, and has tags for the SGC (Antarctica Base), plus extra tail codes for all the Terran Battlecruisers.
It also contains 50 nose arts, many of which have been released before, but LOTS of new ones, with a Stargate/Fantasy/Etc flavor. They were/are originally designed to be used on The Dev A-Team's F-302 'Mongoose'. So, rather than have them sit around any more, you all can add this skin to Zur's Talon.

    I hope you like them!!!

See the enclosed readme for rather simple, easy to follow install instructions, plus the usual Notes and Comments section.

  19. F2A-3 Buffalo, Update Pak

F2A-3 Buffalo, Skin and Ini Update Pak For SF/Wo*/SF2 PTO Installs

This is a semi-complete package for the Dev A-Team F2A Buffalo, in USN and USMC service at the beginning of World War 2.

It is semi-complete due to DAT rules, the aircraft lod is NOT included. So, you'll need the F2A-R2.LOD to compete this package. Everything else IS included.

3 skin/decal set are included; and there's 3 individual readmes, as I've combined all the earlier seperate downloads from my now-closed site, into one. I'd reccomend reading them all, if only for the historical reference

VF-2 "Flying Chiefs", USS Lexington, December 1941
VMF-212, MCAS Ewa, Territory of Hawaii, circa January 1942
VMF-221, Midway Island, June 1942 (yes, them). This skin is 100% historically accurate, with BuNum matched to Modex numbers for the aircraft assigned during the Battle of Midway. (shown in screenshot)

Canopy works via manual animation key, the standard Shift/0
Also included is the engine sound, and a pilot figure. NOTE: the pilot figure is set for 06 level, so you drop him into the root of the /Objects/Aircaft folder.

For SF2 usage, you'll get a new folder for him in the /Pilots sub-folder. In essence, you've got him twice!

Once unzipped, all you need to is drop the LOD into the /F2A folder, and off you go. I'd also advise reading each of the enclosed readmes.

*Note: while still designed with 06 SF/Wo* in mind, it should also be usable in 08 Level SF/Wo*. If used in 08s & SF2, be advised a completly new FM will be necessary. Also, cockpit repositioning will be needed for SF2. Post all questions & problems in the SF2 PropHead Forum. I'll get them worked out (excepting FMs and LOD issues)!*

  20. F4F-3 Wildcat Mod

    F4F-3 Wildcat Modification for SF/WoV/WoE Updated 12/16/08

    ---------------------------
NOTE: for some reason, this mod never made it to the CombatAce downloads, although it's been available at my site for some years. HOWEVER -- this is a revamped, more polished version with redone skins, all NEW decals and some more slight tweaks to the inis. If you have the earlier version, it's suggested you delete it, in it's entirety. A very odd thing for me to be saying! The F4F-3 Pak at my site will also be replaced with this newer, nicer one. For comparisons, I've left the original screenshot in, so you can see the difference between The Old and The New versions...
    --------------------------

This is a mod of Pasko's F4F-4 into the earlier 4-gun, non-folding wing F4F-3 variant, that was in service at the opening of World War 2.

This package includes all the inis, various and sundry other bits, and newly revamped 2 skins & decal sets that represent:

    VF-3 from USS Lexington and
    VF-42 from USS Yorktown

as seen during the early months of the war (post Jan 1942, after the advent of the 6 position stars, and addition of rudder stripes, during the time of The Fast Carrier Raids), up to and including The Battle of the Coral Sea time frame.

This is an INCOMPLETE aircraft mod, as the aircraft LODs and cockpit folder are NOT included!! You will be transfering these critical files from the original F4F-4. New, modified inis ARE suppllied, including a new gunsight tga (and the necessary edits to the cockpit ini.) All lighting on the aircraft are correct; formation, landing and running lights, a seat added for the pilot to rest his ... ah...parachute on and some other very small changes.. A new engine and 'handcranked' landing gear sounds are also supplied, as in a F4F-3 Hangar Screen -only available in this mod!!! A new Pacific Ocean map is also included for the cockpit, as is a NEW pinup :) Damage tgas are here as well, for when you catch a little buckshot...

= IMPORTANT: This aircraft is designed for use in SF/WoV/WoE -ONLY-, It has =NOT= been tested it in post 8/28/08 patch WoI, or post 9/08 - 10/08 patch SF/WoV/WoE. You use it in these enviroments at your own risk. =

=This mod is designed for use with the Bunyap Weapons Pak of 6/06, as it contains all the needed weapons . If attempting to use this aircraft with any other weapons pak, you'll need to add ALL the WW2 era bombs, torpedoes, etc. They are NOT included in this package.=

== THIS IS NOT A FULL AIRCRAFT - YOU _MUST_ HAVE THE ORIGINAL F4F-4 INSTALLED TO COPY FILES FROM ==

As to be expected, clear, conscise, step-by-step install instructions are in the enclosed readme -- so please READ it!!!

  21. F4F-4 Wildcat, Generic USN 1942 Skin

F4F-4 Wildcat Skin, Generic US Navy, 1942; for SF/WoV/WoE PTO installs

This is a somewhat "Generic" skin set for use by US Navy VF (Fighter Squadrons) for the March 1942 - January 1943 timeframe. It represents NO single squadron (hence the "generic" tile) and therefore can be used for any and all Wildcat squadrons as based aboard American aircraft carriers from Midway through the end of the Guadalcanal campaign timeframe, and probably for USMC squadrons as well (albeit with slightly different BuNums...).

It's the standard non-specular blue over gray, with stars in all 6 positions. As US carrier fighter squadrons seemed to have gone under an 'expansion' aboard ship; from the usual pre-war 15-18 aircraft, to 24-28 per squadron (ie: at Midway the average was 24), I've supplied individual "plane-in-grope" numbers for 36 aircraft, although only 28 are activated in the numbers.lst. These "modex" numbers are in the as-specified black, although research has indicated some squadrons may have used white (ie: Yorktown at Midway). This will in no way detract from it's usage. Aircraft type name and BuNum decals are also supplied; actual -4 serial numbers - it can probably be safely assumed these WERE used on combat aircraft.

-= NOTE: You MUST have the Bunyap Weapons Pak of 6/06 to get the WW2 weapons and guns and such =-
-== This aircraft has been tested in SF/WoV/WoE and post-patch WoI (8/08) as well as post 9/08 & 10/08 SF/WoV/WoE. There still are some 'issues' with prop-plane flight models, but there has been a MARKED improvement!! You use it in these Post Patch Environments at YOUR own risk ==-

As expected, the usual readme with all the necessary instructions for installation is supplied ... this is a pretty straight-forward skin install, nothing fancy here This time....

    Happy Landing!!

  22. F4F-4 Wildcat, VF-41, MTO "Torch"

Grumman F4F-4 Wildcat, VF-41 'Operation Torch' Skin & Ini Pak

    for SF/SFG/WoV/WoE WW2: MTO Installs

=Version 2.0 - will update and REPLACE the original from 2005=

This package contains a new skin, and some minor data & cockpit ini mods for Pasko's F4F-4 "Wildcat". It is designed to TOTALLY replace the VF-41 version released several years ago.

The skin represents VF-41 "Red Rippers" based aboard USS RANGER during Operation Torch, the Invasion of North Africa (well, actually, we all know it was Morocco and Tunisia, but why quibble???)

This new skin, like the other Wildcat skins I've done recently, is from my home-grown template, with all redrawn panel, rivet and other details. It has been resized to 1024x, so has a bit more detail than the older 512 version. All new decals, of the correct font and size have been created for the Modex and BuNums. The BuNums ARE for -4 Wildcats, but I was unable to acertain WHICH exact numbers were used by VF-41 during Torch. So, consider them as 'generic'; accurate, but generic <grin>

For those that haven't updated their MTO install's F4F-4, all the inis and sounds from the PTO Wildcat Upgrade are included; new data, cockpit and Main ini --so make sure you follow the instructions below!!!
The cockpit ini makes use of a new WW2 N-3 gunsight tga.
Like it's PTO brother, the canopy has been switched to an animation key (shift/0). The wingfold stays the same as originally issued; you use the bomb-bay control key (cntrl/O). As always, all the lights have been updated with accurate running, formation and landing lights. Also, the landing gear retraction sound is now the 'rachet' noise, as heard in the PTO upgrades.
A new WoE-style 'carrier deck' hangar screen, JUST for this mod is included (as it uses the VF41 skin)

As always, it's reccomended you unzip this package to a temp folder or your desktop, or somewhere's else that's easy to find to gain access to the rest of this readme for full, detailed install instructions.

  23. F4F-4 Wildcat, VMF-223, Skin and Ini Pak

Grumman F4F-4 Wildcat, Skin and Ini Pak for SF/WoV/WoE WW2: PTO Installs

This package contains a new skin, and some minor data & cockpit ini mods for Pasko's F4F-4 "Wildcat".

The skin represents VMF-223 "Bulldogs", as the squadron appeared in August, 1942, upon their arrival at Guadalcanal. They were the first US fighters to land, and be based at, what became known as Henderson Field.
The skin is based off the originals, and was created from a new template, with completly redrawn panel, rivet lines, wear, tear and various scuffs, scrapes, dings, dents and general dirtiness associated with the SoWesPac. Decals for 36 'plane in group numbers' have been included, as has the aircraft type ID, and BuNums. (100% historical accuracy is NOT claimed for the BuNums, as I could only positively confirm the one used on aircraft #13; rest assured, the others ARE actual serial numbers used on F4F-4s, but I'm unable to pin down if any were actually used by the Bulldogs on their aircraft, other then the aforementioned)

The data ini mods include corrected positions and the additions of, running, recognition, formation and landing lights. I've also tweeked the canopy to it opens to it's full extent; swaped out the pilot for a more US looking WW2 guy, and gave him a seat to "park it" on. -NO OTHER CHANGES HAVE BEEN EFFECTD-I!! Flight modeling remains just 'as issued'. Enhanced AI sections have been added, including the "StrafeAI" from post-patch WoI. The engine sound has also been changed (wav included!). Also, it is now fully carrier-qualified, so mission and campaign builders can use it from the CVs.

The cockpit ini has a new WW2 N-3 gunsight tga.

An experimental sound tweek has also been added, creating the ratcheting sound of the landing gear mechanism.

-= NOTE: You MUST have the Bunyap Weapons Pak of 6/06 to get the WW2 weapons and guns and such =-
-== This aircraft has been tested in SF/WoV/WoE and post-patch WoI (8/29/08). There still are some 'issues' with prop-plane flight models, but there has been a MARKED improvement!! You use it in WoI at YOUR own risk ==-

As you'd expect, there's a nice readme enclosed with detailed, step-by-step install instructions. The Commandant of the Corps requires you to do so. The usual "Notes,Comments and General BS" section might make for interestering reading too!
Feedback is requested on the new gear sound, so do let me know how it goes for you?

ps: in case anyone is wondering WHY all these birds for use in the general Solomons area are coming out is, I'm nearly done with an upgrade for the Solomons map. I'm just awaiting the new trees and such from the Original Master of Maps Hisself.

  25. F4U Corsair, WW2 Pak (Wolf257)

    F4U Corsair WW2 Pak (Wolf257)

    = For SF2, Any & All (Full 5 Merged Reccomended*) =

    Designed for use =ONLY= in a stand-alone SF2-based WW2 PTO Mods Folder!!!

*Note: Full-5 Merged reccomended, due to the use of SF2NA style 'carrier based' statements in the
aircraft's data inis. Working WW2-era aircraft carriers (and escorts) are required as well as
Terrains with working SF2NA-style _water.bmps and NavalMap=TRUE). There is a 98.6% probability that
this mod will =NOT= work in SF/Wo* 1stGen game installs, due to the excessive modifications made to
fit them into the SF2 environment.
Please note, that in the case of NavalMap Terrains, USMC & RNZAF
aircraft =WILL= be flying off carriers, regardless that said aircraft versions/squadrons did or did
not in Real Life ™. It's a Game Engine "bug" that can only be fixed by have both a land-based and
carrier-based version of the aircraft (ie: "Nationalized")*

This is a compliation of all the work done to date on Wolf257's Corsairs, from 1stGen WW2 mods, converted, adjusted, tweeked, etc, for use in the SF2 environment. This package is designed (read: WILL) replace all other
previously released versions/variants/mods of these aircraft.

This package holds 6 complete aircraft, with all their skins and decals:

    Corsair MK.IV (RNFAA- BPF)
    F4U-1 (USMC Birdcage 'Stand In')
    F4U-1A (USN, USMC, RNZAF)
    F4U-1D (USN, USMC, RNZAF)
F4U-2 (Radar Equiped Nightfighter; USN, USMC)
F4U-4 (USN, USMC) *by TMF, specific for WW2*

For squadrons represented, just look in each aircraft's folder.

New cockpits, from the TMF -4/-7/AU-1 are being used on the Mk.IV, -1D. The -2 is using the radar-
equiped cockpit from the -5N. While not fully hisorically correct, they have the proper "look and
feel" for the era. The -1 & -1A still uses the original Wolf cockpit. With a small "enhancement"
Data inis (FM), loadouts, userlists, etc meet (almost, FM-wise) the latest standard. All skins are in
Jpg format, and decal randomization is TURE. See 'Notes' for more details.
All weapons are included, in SF2 formatting, as are sounds and a pilot figure.

Supplied, for Optional Use, is a slightly modified SquadronList.ini, with small name changes to some
USN & USMC squadrons, that may (or may not!) show the correct squadron name on the Loadout Screen.
Also supplied is a 'backdated' SCB-125_Data.ini for SF2NA users that will allow the anachronism of a
1950s-era angled-deck Essex class CV to work in WW2 (that also has =NO= working guns!!).
