  1. No, they just kicked 'em out the cargo door. Or rolled, it they were being lazy..

    LloydNB has the data ini mods for the EAF Dak's -- I think he released the skin and mods some time ago. Should be in the d/ls section.

    As to props...I haven't checked them with the patch yet, but several are having some 'diffuculties'

    S-199/109G10 -- bleeds speed horrifically, and falls into unrecoverable spins

    P-51 - harder to fly than before, haven't spent too much time with it.

    Spit 5/9 - almost the same as in WoE, possibly more realistic than before.

    Mc-205 - explodes on runways. In 'air starts', more sluggish than WoE

    I still have to add the patch to the 'historic' mods and 'all Mid-East' mod (which includes the What IF IDF birds) and compare.

    Personallly, I don't think there's any advantage in the patch with the WW2 aircraft - unless they get new flight models. I doubt I'll be patching my WW2 WoE installs when that patch comes out .... even with full install, backup copies to restore from.

  2. Looking over the various gundata ini's I've discovered:

    1) Defa 552 30mm is a stock weapon

    2) Defa 553 is NOT a stock weapon -- and will therefore need to use one or another of the weapons paks.

    If NOT using a weapons pak, it's suggested to switch it to the 552 (even if historicall incorrect)

    Best fix: d/l the weapons pak

    or add this to the gundata ini, and to the 'adding a gun ini dance'... (don't forget to have the guneditor set for Winge98 compatability)

    Gun editor also works in WoI

  3. Basher, you DO know the 84A Harpoon is an Anti-Ship missile only??

    You're probably thinking of the 84D SLAM Land Attack version.

    And Canberras were long retired before EITHER was available for use, let alone be loaded onto an aircraft that never carried them.

    Just a little historical/hysterical note there... :haha:

    Canadair, PLEASE!!! Lets not rehash the Ground Attack issues?? I beg you!!! :please:

  4. Quickie fix for both versions:

    Since they'are supposed to be 'single nation only' versions....dates are 'best guess', based on supposed full operational with RAF

    For the Isreali:

    [MissionData]

    NationName=ISRAEL

    ServiceStartYear=2010

    ServiceEndYear=2030

    AircraftRole=FIGHTER

    AircraftCapability=DAY_AND_NIGHT

    Availability=COMMON

    Exported=FALSE

    ExportStartYear=

    ExportAvailability=

    PrimaryRoles=SWEEP,CAP,INTERCEPT,STRIKE,CAS,SEAD

    SecondaryRoles=ANTI_SHIP,FAC,ARMED_RECON,RECON

    NormalMissionRadius=1300

    MaxMissionRadius=1700

    Ceiling=16765

    MinBaseSize=SMALL

    Carrierbased=FALSE

    For Saudi:

    [MissionData]

    NationName=Saudi Arabia

    ServiceStartYear=2010

    ServiceEndYear=2030

    AircraftRole=FIGHTER

    AircraftCapability=DAY_AND_NIGHT

    Availability=COMMON

    Exported=FALSE

    ExportStartYear=

    ExportAvailability=

    PrimaryRoles=SWEEP,CAP,INTERCEPT,STRIKE,CAS,SEAD

    SecondaryRoles=ANTI_SHIP,FAC,ARMED_RECON,RECON

    NormalMissionRadius=1300

    MaxMissionRadius=1700

    Ceiling=16765

    MinBaseSize=SMALL

    Carrierbased=FALSE

    Be advised, however, in WoI Saudi Arabia is an ENEMY Nation, and you'll have NO weapons other than the gun and drop tanks.

    I"ll work up the other data ini and loadout fixes later....they'll be getting nation-specific (Saudi) weapons. If using the bunyap pak, you should be able to adjust your loadout inis accordingly; if using TMFs pak, you'll need to create nationalized 'enemy' weapons, using the "WP" attachment type code.

    The IDF version should work pretty close to normal

  5. Note to self: get together with Brainless and start revamping the revamp of the Knowledge Base.

    Wow, it took me nearly 7 minutes to find this post. It got combined with another. If it takes ME that long, and I know where everything is ...

    ok, sorry...of track...

    The important stuff is from USAFMTL, froma coupla years ago. I"ll post it here:

    Although designed for SF/WoV/WoE, it works the same. Just substitute "WoI" for whatever game it mentions :biggrin:

    12. Installing Patches over already modded installs

    IMPORTANT: This is done entirely at your own risk and is only recommended for advanced users - because there is no guarantee that everything will work after you have carried this out.

    Procedure 1:

    (Author: USAFMTL)

    You want to patch and not worry about add ons? Do this.

    1. Make a fresh/new/vanilla install of WOE/SF/WOV. Yes you can have more than one install.

    2. Patch it {with Direct X if need be yada yada yada}

    3. Copy the .DLL and .CAT files ONLY to your add on (modded) version of SF/WOV/WOE. Example there is a folder called SYSTEM, copy the contents of that folder to your add on (modded) install. Then look at the FLIGHT folder, MENU folder etc and do the same.

    4. Make sure you copy over the new terrain files to your add on install. I.e. GermanyCE etc.

    5. In the install of your SF/WOV/WOE you will see the exe’s, a few .dll's an options.ini and other loose files. You will need those also copied to your add on install as well. {you will have to reset your graphic and gameplay settings but that take a minute}

    DO NOT copy your CONTROLS folder over if you have it set up for your joystick or you will have to reset your stick.

    Finally burn a copy of the vanilla install for future patching. New patch, drag and drop burned install to your desktop or directory of choice, patch it, follow the above procedures.

    This is the procedure I've been using, and it works.

  6. You all are going to make me re-install FA, aren't you??? :rofl:

    I still have all the maunals, so I can provide any data for the planes from THAT game for use.

    Too bad I haven't figure out the mission builders for the SF series...I've got DOZENS of missions for FA that could be useful (the 'Defending the Kingdom' set comes to mind for WoE - now that we have the Tiffy's -- just need the X-31s and X-32*)

    *will have to wait for S&E's JSF to be finished I guess...

  7. As with every round of patching, all the user setting are erased.

    You'll have to reassign your controler's buttons, and double check your sound and graphics settings as well

    Also, any campaign you're in the middle of, will be deleted (ie: saved campaigns)

    Hence the need for a clean, unmodded install. Provided you have the HD space. Then, after patching the clean one, just move the cats, dlls and etc to the modded installs.

  8. Tora: welcome to CombatAce.

    In the next froum, below this one (File Announcements), there is another called "The Knowledge Base". It's an accumlation of information designed to help the new SF/WoV/WoE/WoI user get up to speed on what's needed, and possible, with these open-source marvels TK's created.

    I'd suggest spending some time in there, as the quesitons you're about to be asking will most likely have the answers there.

    In particular, for the weapons editor -- use ONLY the one that comes in the Bunyap Pak WITH ONLY the Bunyap Pak in SF/WoV/WoE. WoI has a new style of editor, taht only works in WoI (and First Eagles with the Expansion Pak)

    to answer the question as to WHY the editor is not working at present, follow the link below:

    http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?showtopic=12210

    And get ready for a LOT of aircraft editing...the bunyap pak changes damn near everything for all the Red Air bird. You'll find several hundred posts about how to fix that, just above the post I linked to in the KB

  9. From the classic Jimmy Stewart movie "Strategic Air Command". Available on DVD -- and highly reccomended for it's superb flying sequences.

    At the March AFB museam, they have the Stratojet cockpit (open on the left side) that they used for the B-47 sequences.

  10. What IS the fascination you children have with nuclear weapons??? Don't you know they're the 'weapon of last resort'??

    We've got real people here, who've either sat cockpit alerts in stargetic bombers, sat in the underground launch capsules, flown with the damn things onboard; or like many of us, lived most of our lives with that Damoclean Sword hanging over us ... you don't see them spouting about how great nukes are.

    ------------

    Back on the subject....

    That really dosen't create a nuclear bomb...

    all you're doing is changing the explosion type, effects and damge to use the fission/fussion types.

    It's just a Mk.84 with nuke warhead ... something that dosent exist in the real world. Why not create a REAL one....looking up the types, yeilds, body shapes, etc. and do it up right??

    We've got several already in Buny's pak - Mk.43, B61, RDS-40, AN-52.... etc.

    I just don't understand why all this bandwidth is being used on this subject...in numerous posts, instead of just continuing one single, unified thread.

    :dntknw:

    mabye I should just put them all in one place??
