  1. Anyone noticed FPS is decidedly lower flying the SE5 (in missions or campaign) than the D7 or Spad ? Also lower than the A/C mods I've downloaded to date (Gotha, M1C, DH2 & Camel). At 1000ft cockpit view the SE5 get's mid 20's FPS .... the other A/C between 50 & 60. This does become a problem when dogfighting in the SE5 as it becomes a slide show unless you use the "no cockpit" view. Would this be something to do with the flight ini files or something ? Easily remedied ? Cheers, catch.
  2. What would be the most recommended mission mods ? Will they all eventually be available from combatace ? Will Campaign have added terrains / missions ? (from modders or patch ?) Cheers ....
  3. I'd recommend OFF in an instant and it is well worth purchasing CFS3 just for OFF imo. I wouldn't be put off by the CFS3 engine. WM and his team have performed miracles overcoming some of its limitations to produce graphics and FM's you wouldn't believe. For those who play on-line (I'm not one) there is a group on the OFF forum who play regularly together and there's no cheating there afaik. cheers, catch.
  4. Thanks Tailspin. I think I've got it. I'll give it a go.
  5. Thanks Jim. I got that far and was browsing in the WW1 folders looking for viewlist.ini which always came up blank. I did a XP search and there's no viewlist.ini on my machine. Sorry but I'm still confused and more questions ..... #) I still don't understand why we have to extract stuff to modify. I downloaded the extractor only because someone said that was the only way to modify files. Can't that be done via notepad ? #) What is a "cat" file anyway ? Is that just a term for any file you're looking for ? #) If I did have viewlist.ini and it's global that's the one I'd modify so all views are uniform across all aircraft .... if any didn't look right then I'd modify that plane rather than doing each one individually. Or is this not possible ? Sorry mate I've probably opened a can of worms here and this stuff is all new to me. I appreciate your help. Cheers, Catch.
  6. Thanks for the feedback Erik. I thought it was just me at first ! These combatace downloads are popular eh .... good stuff too. Keep up the good work.
  7. I installed it and it works fine for me .... it's sluggish but you'd expect that for a heavy bomber .... even has a day and night skin. When flying it the pilot cannot shoot but the AI gunners swivel around and shoot when attacked ..... but you have to fly on normal FM otherwise you'll never get it off the ground. The only odd thing I noticed was the default cockpit forward view looks incomplete with "clippings" or whatever you call it on the right hand side like there was some kind of issue with the front gunner or something ? It's fun though ..... but geez Archibald is deadly to Gotha's !
  8. Thanks RvH. I've been trying to find the ini files ! I installed the SF extractor but I can't extract (well don't know how !) the viewlist.ini to have a play around. Do you have to have Strike Fighters installed to extract from there and place into FE ? Is that how it works ?
  9. It's okay Dagger .... Combatace were having problems ..... it's all good now.
  10. LOL guys ....agree Snoopy is a great comic strip. Now this is giving away my age a tad but remember the Royal Guardsmen and the 60's hit Snoopy vs the Red Baron ..... "10, 20, 30, 40, 50 or more the bloody Red Baron was rollin up a score" ..... the word "bloody" was blipped out on Aussie radio at the time LOL. How times have changed !

  12. Hats off to you Kendo for undertaking this project. It looks great and I'm pleased you're concentrating on the early years / aircraft which has been sadly overlooked in favour of the "glamour" years and the "oh no not another DR1" syndrome. Snoopy has a lot to answer for. I've been fascinated by vintage aircraft and the WW1 air war since I was a kid and I rarely fly any other sim but WW1 flightsims so people like you are like Gods to me. And in a sadly under-nourished genre it's encouraging to see people like you giving it a go. Obviously a passion for you as it is for me. Bur now for the bad bit .... I have no talent as an artist, modder, FM specialist or anything like that. I'm just a leech that soaks up anything from this wonderful era .... so all I can do is wish you well and give you heaps of encouragement and hope like minded people (with talent) come to assist you because, from what you've shown to date, it is a VERY worthwhile project. cheers, catch.
  13. Thanks for the reply RvH. So how do you move the eyepoint up/down/sideways from the default cockpit setting ? I don't have trackir but I thought maybe there's eyepoint controls somewhere that I could map to the stick buttons ? It can be done in OFF. I know I know get trackir they say get trackir ! One day ......
  14. #) Guys .... are you able to move the eyepoint view up/down/sideways ? Checksix view is okay in the Fokker and Spad (don't have trackir ....I use camera view on hatswitch) but is obscured in the SE5 by the headrest. Be nice to be able to see over or around it ? Otherwise, changing the extracted viewlist.ini for a check6 view will do the same thing in the SE5 ? #) Can the camera view pan speed (when mapped to hatswitch) be incresed/decreased ? Cheers, catch.
