Now THAT sounds really cool Ken ! Music ? .... I love all types .... well except C&W, 70's Disco and Rap. Love the blues. Regarding Hendrix, one of his best pieces imo is an instrumental called "Palli Gap" .... think it's off Rainbow Bridge. If you've never heard it I can recommend it. Probably be able to mix it up a bit dance music style too .... I reckon it'd work although Jimmy may not approve ! cheers catch.

Thanks for the headsup Dagger. I never had graphical issues so I'll wait and see what develops with those that test it out .... although the AI rudder fix is a good thing. Alternatively, are you able to provide basic instructions to install a separate "vanilla copy" of FE so I can muck about with patches and mods and all that good stuff without affecting my game saves and current setup.

Ken, I'm liking this concept of yours more and more. I missed out on the legendary RB3D days so I can't comment on the pros and cons of that game and any similarity between it and your concept. But if I've got what you're saying right about added gameplay .... do you mean you will identify with and care more about your character as opposed to a "cardboard cutout" character ? WW1 flight sims are great fun and my particular passion ... but sometimes, rather than flying again straightaway in a new mission time and time again, it'd be nice to have some "downtime" or "stress relief" and actually waltz into the mess and play darts or have a beer or even catch a lift into town to the local bordello ! I don't mean actually doing that as it's probably too complex but a simulation of those things to break things up a bit. Something to round out your character rather than him just being a flying superman. Is that what you mean ? There was a game touted a few years back (battlestations or something) which I think combined flightsimming with RPG/FPS where you supposedly could fly a plane and then transfer to captain a ship or man the ships guns. I've always like that concept because if you tired of one genre you couild slip into another .... but it must be pretty complex to achieve quality in all genres! And I don't know if it ever got released ? Now get out and make some more cold hard cash with your dance / techno music (don't know much about it to be honest as I'm one of those prehistoric dinosaurs who grew up on the 60's/70's stuff) so you can fund your true love (no, not her ..... the WW1 game man). All the best. catch.

Firecage Plane Fest - Update Ver 1.4
catch replied to Firecage's topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2
Nice one Firecage. Looking forward to this. Will this replace your original plane fest campaign or install as a new campaign ? I don't want to lose where I'm at with your original and I'm becoming quite fond of the old DH2 ! In my latest attempt I have survived 6 missions but am still in March 1916 with the DH2. Do you have to survive approx 20 missions before a plane upgrade ? I also tried your DR1 hard FM mod in single mission. But unfortunately I can't comment on it's effectiveness because I couldn't take off. When the DR1 spawns onto the airfield it's like it's in quicksand and sinking quickly or trying to burrow underground to avoid the war .... that's the only way I can describe it. I think I tried it on normal with the same result so I flipped back to the A-Team FM version. Have I done something wrong ? Anyone else getting this problem ? -
Thanks Raven. You're right about the "folder in a folder" thing. I played around over the weekend with a number of a/c installs, camo's and cockpits to get FC's Plane Fest campaign working correctly. And then the patch upgraded DVa (old version used to appear) wouldn't appear in the single mission drop down menu .... ooops ! All the data files were there and titled correctly as DVa .... drove me nuts why it wouldn't show. Then I noticed there were folder within folder duplications in a few of the aircraft folders including the DVa so trimmed them down and went mad turfing out camo's and cockpits and replacing them elsewhere or deleting them and by some kind of sorcery or black magic it seemed to work. Still not sure exactly what I did LOL ? Time to employ some witchcraft on the Gotha to see if those textures can be fixed.

GB, the default toggle selection for bombs/secondary ordinance is the backslash key (\). This brings up text that says you've selected whatever you picked in the loadout screen. I never noticed whether my squad mates dropped bombs on the designated target ..... I was too busy getting shot up by Archie lol.

D1,2,3,5A Albatros Package - Question for Tex.
catch replied to catch's topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2
LOL sorry about the funky text JFM. Yep that's the one. Thanks for that. I agree Aladar's DH2 is great. I'm having a very challenging time with it in FC's planefest. Hope he's okay ? -
D1,2,3,5A Albatros Package - Question for Tex.
catch replied to catch's topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2
Or is this it ? http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autom...oad&id=3701 -
Tex, the link to the albatros cockpit download goes to the CA forum page and not to a specific download. I believe the cockpit is required to make the albies flyable. Am I doing something stupid or misunderstanding what to do ? Please help. Thanks .....

Blast and damnation ! Looks like I'll have to keep my eyes open on E-bay/2nd hand bins.

Well Kendo after seeing what you've achieved so far by yourself is very impressive. TW is virtually a one man operation so I fail to understand why some would be suspicious of your one man show. And if people stay away because, as you suggest, they don't like the name that is their prerogative but also their loss. I can only support you with encouragement as I don't have any skills in skinning, modding, artistry, coding etc but I have a great passion for WW1 aviation (well anything to do with the early years of aviation really). And to have Jay's support is high praise indeed for what you have achieved to date. Stick at it and keep your vision intact regardless of what people may say. A musician with a passion for WW1 aviation. Sounds like a good mix to me. I'm envious. What type of music/instruments ? Do you write music ? cheers, catch.

Really looking forward to these Nieuport's. Good job Tex, Monty and any others involved in these very worthwhile kites.

Before I register with chips n bits do they take Paypal ? I don't use credit cards ...... thanks
-
Thanks ArgonV & Dagger. Chips n bits is back up
-
Remarkable ! I hope there's some coders out there who can help out Kendo. It looks like a very worthwhile project to be involved in (well for all us WW1 nuts anyway !)
-
Blimey ! This looks pretty interesting. Where have I been NOT to notice this before ? Don't ask. Now .... to get started how do I get an SDOE CD ? I can't connect to the chips n bits link for some reason ? Is there a downloadable version ? cheers, catch.

Welcome Apache. Enjoy !

Kevin, hopefully your WWI art collection will increase with kind permission from Windsock as they see the benefits to FE hehe

Excellent Kendo Looking really good. Please send more pics

Wrench , O/T but I love those hanger screen paintings on the A-Team a/c mods. They're very good. Do you do any of the artwork yourself ?
-
It's okay .... bad timing ..... it's there now.
-
Nice work A-Team ! Is this available at your skunkworks site somewhere ? Couldn't see it in the WW1 page .... cheers.

Is there a Morane-Saulnier N in working?
catch replied to jv44kt's topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2
Don't believe so .... but it woud be nice ! Along with the Parasol -
While I haven't had a chance to test out FC's DR1 FM yet, I've noticed this on a few add-ons ..... not so much the stock planes. They climb vertically at low speed for 1000's of feet before finally stalling out as Bandy has described .... as far as I've noticed, on all the planes with these symptoms the elevators "stick" up or down so you have to employ opposite stick to get to a neutral flying position rather than just centreing the stick. The ailerons and rudder will automatically revert to neutral, as they should, when the stick is released or centred. Just wondering if this has anything to do with the unrealistic vertical climb ? And speaking of climbing, does anyone know why as soon as you hit 2000ft your altitude changes to 2800 or 3000ft in an instant ? Doesn't seem to happen at other heights.

Firecage, don't know if it's just me but I get this error "we could not find the file specified" on your download link.
