03 May 2013 Update Well, the big news this week has of course been the release of DCS ver. 1.2.4, along with the first DCS module... DCS: UH-1H Huey! We've been really delighted with the reception of the Huey and that it has demonstrated that a talented partner can develop a module to the same standards of the other DCS modules. We hope this will put some of those concerns to bed. In order to release the Huey and 1.2.4 this week, we ran out of time to include some additional changes/fixes into the installers. On Monday, we PLAN/HOPE to provide a 1.2.4 update with the following: • Fixed hit point of shells in multiplayer that were independent of turret rotation on the server-side. • Disabled the incomplete "Ultra High" visibility setting. • Implemented the waiting screen for the Module Manager. • Corrected helicopter exhaust effect. • Fixed damage value for AI aircraft. • Corrected invisible warehouses. • Helicopter takeoff from ships corrected. • Adjusted shell aiming. • Adjusted infantry weapon accuracy. • AK-74 assault rifle rate of fire has been corrected. • Fixed lock ability for non-air defense units. • Fixed "Emission Control" for radar units. • Advanced options waypoint that allows air unit to fly to an assigned ground unit. • Adjusted delay between manual gear changes for CA units. • Fixed delay after launch of IR-guided missiles. • Repair after mast bumping is now available. • Fixed GUI button size errors. • Fixed synchronization of ground units in network play. After that, we will evaluate the most important remaining 1.2.4 bugs and do our very best to resolve as many of them as possible in 1.2.5. Work will also accelerate on development of DCS: F-15C and DCS: S-27. I hope to talk more about those next week.

Hey P how are you? SF2 is still at the Jul 2012 patch level. Having said that some awesome mods have been released. Ravenclaw's F-4s and weapons packs, eburger's SF:NA enhancement pack and an updated Operation Tainted Cigar. Russo has released some great Mig-29's. Some new F-5's, lots of WWII stuff from Wrench, The. Paulo has released some freakin' nice skins packs for various aircraft. So there is plenty to do. -
Well I am trying to get a hold of ST0RM to make sure it wasn't his plane. No answer yet.

There has been quite the clamoring for some more images of the new AI-only Fw-190-D9 aircraft that will be free as part of the upcoming ver. 1.2.4. For now this is AI-only, but work is already on-going making it human flyable at the same level as our P-51D. We understand why the inclusion of P-51D into DCS raised a lot of eyebrows, but in the coming months and years, we intend to gradually flesh the WW2 combat environment out with units and maps. In fact, we have a partner with quite a lot of experience in this area! However, this is a big undertaking, so as much as some folks may wish, we cannot do it all at once as a single package. Rather, we will gradually add new components as they are ready from Eagle and our partners. -
25 April 2013 Update Dear all, The past week or so has been more than a bit traumatic with the loss of a dear friend and our studio director has been away on travel in the US (in fact, meeting with me yesterday). One result of the meeting was him granting me much more freedom in how I can pass along information here. Earlier we had a more complex system of checks for public announcements that could slow things down dramatically. This will be changing in the form of weekly Friday updates starting next week. Many of you are wondering and openly asking, "what's up with 1.2.4 and UH-1?!?" The BST UH-1H pre-purchase beta version is ready to go, but in order for it to work within DCS, we must release it concurrently with DCS ver. 1.2.4. Unfortunately, over the past week we had a few of A-level blocking bugs that prevented this from happening (like flares that had no effect on IR-guided missiles and ground units that would crazily warp around the map in network play). We think these have now been resolved and the 1.2.4 software is being retested. Once we are sure these have been resolved, both 1.2.4 and UH-1H will be released. Given the nature of bug hunting / extermination, I'm afraid that I cannot provide a release date. While 1.2.4 has added several new features and fixed quite a few bugs, we do not pretend that it has cleaned up all outstanding issues, like performance impact from some types of cluster munitions. Such issues will continue to be worked on and addressed in 1.2.5 and beyond. Thanks, Matt

P-51 D vs FW-190 anyone? That is why the Dora was made. SO you dont have to fly P-51's vs Flankers or FW-190's vs F-15's. Simulator Scripting Engine, this is what makes the mission editor the best ever made in any sim. From random elements to triggers to controlling the battlefield.
