My dad can beat up your dad. Fact: The F-22 at Red Flag has "destroyed" every fighter it has faced from every country that participated time and time again. That includes Typhoon, Vipers, Eagles shall I keep naming? Does the F-22 occasionally get beat? Duh...yes. But the shear numbers of its wins vs losses against just about every fighter in the free world in the realistic combat scenarios just short of actually shooting the planes down is staggering. Gepard, ever been to Red Flag? I have. many times.

How to calculate combat range?
Dave replied to Snailman's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
Combat range is measured based on the payload. Depending on the mission, they may lower the total fuel to accomidate more weapon weight. In that case, it would either tank up when airborne or the mission itself does not involve a long distance. -
Exp3 News! (no, not really)
Dave replied to FastCargo's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
The modders have propped him up for 10 years, now he is moving on. I'm glad he finally answered the question but in this humble modders opinion, stick a fork in the PC series, its done. Now its up to the modders to keep it going. Fact of life. He said exactly what I thought he was going to. He is a businessman and the phrase customer loyalty alludes him. -

CatPack Archiving Utility
Dave posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - File Announcements
File Name: CatPack Archiving Utility File Submitter: USAFMTL File Submitted: 18 Jan 2010 File Category: SF2 Patches and Tools CatPack - Archiving utility for Third-Wire CAT format, GB 27-12-2009. V1.12, Freeware, Use at your own risk, files limit is set at 8000. Packs all files in current folder to CatPack.cat except CatPack.exe/CatPack.cat. Unpacks any cat file you drop on the icon to a folder with the archive's name. You can press Ctrl+Break to interrupt and close the program, but it will leave files unfinished when doing so. UPDATE: CatPack V1.1 will extract contents of the new Strike Fighters 2 Cat archives. The Display will tell the Cat version to be 2, instead of 1. Subfolder information contained in version 2 archives will be restored properly. The unicode filenames in the version 2 archives are converted back to ASCII, therefor actual unicode-only characters in filenames will not be restored. Catpack does not yet support creating a version 2 Cat archive. Maybe later. CatPack V1.11 works properly when Cat files are in folders that have their 'archive' flag set. This seems to be the case with the SF2 objects folder. CatPack V1.12 has some additional features when extracting a Cat archive: First it automatically creates an index file of the Cat file. Second and it allows one to optionally pass a wildcard string, only files matching this wildcard string will be extracted from the archive. For example "mig" will only extract files that have "mig" in their name or extension. Credits: Gerwin - Author Kreelin and Paolo - Beta testing of V1.1. Fellas this is the deal, we are being forced to a new data center and the short of it all is that the upgrades are going to cost some bucks. Right now the kitty is bare. With Erik and his issue he had last year, he still hasn't been able to get back to work or he would put it in his credit card. They are going to crack him open again so we want to get this all done before they play "Operation" on him again. So you see the predicament? So if you have thought about a subscription, now is a good as time as any. Are we going to shut down? No. But this would sure help offset some costs. I'm putting money in on Thursday when I get paid. Erik IMHO shouldn't have to suck up this cost for an upgrade that we are given little choice on. Remember when you contribute, we send a terrorist to meet his maker. So please think of the terrorists.

Well Ed at least you stocked the essentials.

Always wanted to do something like this...
Dave replied to ironroad's topic in Digital Combat Simulator Series General Discussion
IR You can count me in on this. We get about 4 or 5 more people and this would be sweet. We need a list of what we need to run this and how to run it and I think the crowd will come. -
Oh yeah know I remember, I just looked it up. Shame on me because that is a classic.

The Thin Red Line, they said it was the thinking man's war movie. How in the hell can you say Saving Private Ryan and the Dirty Dozen? Wow.
