Can't Leave Well Enough Alone
Dave posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Some of you have taken the time to download the B-52's. Well I can't leave well enough alone and started to revamp them to add more SF2 type format and features. Here is an example. The B-52H late is going through a 3 phase process. One version will be the B-52H_88, 1988 is the beginning of the Phase VI ECM upgrade. But in 1988 the H model was still very much an all nuke carrier while the G was getting a conventional mission. So this version will have an all nuke ALCM loadout with the ability to carry gravity nukes as well. The H still retained the tail gun. The end year will be 1993/4 when it went through the CEM (Conventional Enhancement Modification). This gave it the ability to use conventional munitions. It also is the year that most lost their gun. So another version I am making is the B-52H_93. This one will be able to carry many kinds of weps in the bomb bay. But I took the liberty of making wing pylons carry the AGM-142 and data pod only. It is a rather nice configuration. The end year for the 93 bird is 2003. That is when the H model picked up the ability to carry the Litening Pod and LGB's. Also could carry JDAM's, JASSM and JSOW's. Also, it is when it picked up the Combat Track II moving map display (Its just a laptop), some other ECM upgrades as well. So that is my plan, there will be additional skins for those aircraft as well. Once that is done I will go the same route for the G, then the early models will get change as well. So good things coming. -
Dave, So it is another Sunday out here. It is another weekday, Monday style for us in the air wing. Meanwhile the ship's company get a chance to sleep in a little bit (at least until 0800) for what is called holiday routine. I really don't have a weekend out here. The only time I have anytime to sleep in is when I hit a port and don't draw the duty. Every day is a work day out here. Twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, for as many weeks until we get home. My work hours run from 0530 until 1830 every day. It makes for a long day, then I usually try to get back to my berthing compartment, grab a hot shower, and crawl into the rack. Read a book while listening to my Zune. The biggest thing I miss right away being out here is privacy, the other thing I really miss is sitting down to read Sunday funnies. My last couple of deployments I tried to have subscriptions to a couple of my local papers, I tried that this time only to see getting the Sunday paper for the next 13 weeks would of set me back about $150. I don't think so! So I will have to depend on the wife to send me them from time to time. We are still outside Hawaii. Getting bounced around because of a hurricane near the islands. It is making for fun flying. We had an open NJP out here a couple of nights ago. A couple of our power line guys, we call them Plane Captains (they wear brown shirts on the flight deck) were busted using some sort of drug called "Salvia Divinorum" on the smoke deck. I guess it is made from something similar to the spice cloves and it smells just like cloves when it is burned. It causes a high like marijuana. Anyhow, this drug is legal (for right now ) in the states but illegal for the US Military to use. One of the Quality Assurance Representatives' was telling me the day they got busted smoking up was the same day we suffered a FOD hit to a jet engine. Though we can't prove it, it is a very interesting coincidence that the FOD was missed by both of these PC's and only noticed because a CDQAR [collateral duty quality assurance rep] thought something looked funny about one of the first stage blade. He dove the duct and found a few bent blades, when we bore scoped it there was nicks going all the way back as far as we could see. The better part was at the mast the one these jokers requested to stay in the navy because he didn't want to go back home as a failure to his parents. I guess he didn't understand the part at boot camp and later on at the command which stated the Navy's drug use policy is zero tolerance. Then he had the gall to state that he did it to "relieve stress" as an answer to violation of the drug policy. After that comment I honestly though the CO was going to throw the podium at this pinhead. The skipper's head contracted, turned bright red, his knuckles turned white as he gripped the podium. Then the skipper shouted, "Relieve stress?!?! You could of killed Me, your Division officer, the MO, a slew of others onboard this ship. You could of made orphans of a number of children." He imposed the sentence of 45/45 and lost of half a months pay times two with an admin sep as soon as possible. The other guy just kind of hung his head and answered in a series of "Yes, Sirs" and "No, Sirs" to all the questions asked. Same sentence imposed on the other one. When I get a chance I will try and get some more pictures of things going on around the ship. Charles

Dragon Jaw Bridge is no more. -
Those of you who downloaded the older SF2 versions I would delete them and get the updated ones. You will not be disappointed in the least bit. I am not shilling for downloads, I am merely saying you all will find this one much more to ones liking. http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autoc...p;showfile=9685

B-52G/H Mega Era Package
Dave replied to Dave's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
Well here is a better explanation of my breakdown logic. B-52G_59 and the B-52H_61: The years they came into service and were all nuke and Houndog carriers. So for you SAC fans this is the cold warrior at its best. B-52G_72: This version went to Vietnam for Linebacker with the ability to carry only 27 bombs and very inferior ECM. B-52H_75: While the G was being used for a conventional role, the H were still all nuke aircraft. (it could carry 27 iron bombs if needed) This one represents the year it got the EVS, new ECM and its carries gravity nukes and SRAM's. B-52G_77: Again with the H is received the upgraded ECM, EVS and kept its ability to carry iron in the bay and is set up for a its nuclear missions as well. B-52H_88: While the G was getting more of the conventional role, in 1988 the H soldiered on being an all nuke bomber. In this year we see it in its new paint and carrying an all AGM-86B ALCM loadouts. B-52G_82: This is the year the G went operational with the AGM-86B ALCM B-52H_93: New paint, upgraded ECM and no gun. This one also had the ability to fire the AGM-142 Have Nap. Note: In the loadout screen it will say it is empty but the black dots next to it will be full. That means they are loaded but there is some glitch in the sim preventing it from showing up in the loadout screen because of the data link pod. It does work though once you are in the sim. B-52G_89: Here is then it picked up a serious conventional mission with the ability to carry iron on the wing pylons as well. This one also received the new paint scheme and made carpet bombing famous during Desert Storm. B-52H_03: The current version with upgraded ECM, plus the ability to carry the LITENING pod, all sorts of guided weapons from JDAM's, to LGB's, to JSOW's. Also with the Combat Track II moving map display in the cockpit. -

Can't Leave Well Enough Alone
Dave replied to Dave's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Well here is the decal work I did. Mine you the skins were done by various people I just did the unit work. -
I made a 1989 version of the B-52G, it was 1989 that it got a heavy heavy handed conventional role. (more than perviously) One of 2 choices, (this is for the wing pylons only for both of these choices) X4 AGM-142's, or lots of iron bombs for carpet bombing? No you can't have both.

I am leaning towards the AGM-142 myself because G was the first to carry it and this model is the 1989 version. X Ray is right, you can get the G from the DS mod and be conventional G.
