It was launched in 2006 IIRC correctly. We had a MMII that was borrowed and was to be used as a re-entry target in 1993. Went out of the hole, got to about 500 ft and then started to tilt out of control. We hit the destruct package on it and it only blew out about 10 feet of the 1st stage. So it hit the ground mostly intact. Damn near burned the town of Goleta, we were picking up solid fuel for weeks. (In full chem suits in 90 degree heat.)Totally sucked.

Could very well be the case. But having spent 2 years at Vandenberg loading satellites on to Titans, they are made of a lot more than just aluminium. Some of those things were huge. So I think its mass is what going to be issue here. If its the ones I think it is, these are not small by any means.

I love the Bucc but you are so right, that is UGLY. -
Let me re phrase that, yes you do want it to burn up in the atmosphere. You do not want it unburned in the atmosphere, over a populated area. We had a Titan blow up 60 miles down range in 1994. Nice mess and we were thankful it was over the ocean. Over a populated area, it could of made people extrememly ill and depending on the concentration, deadly.

Depends on the altitude they hit it at. That is the key.

CF-18 loses rudder on way into Thunder Bay

Oops, we at least it turned out well. -
You are 100% incorrect sir. Hydrazine is deadly. You do not want it burning up in the atmosphere. This particular satellites mass warrents the precautions we are taking. The PSRE on a Minuteman III uses hydrazine for fuel and if it was to vent, you are dead in seconds. (I have 3 years ICBM maint on MMIII, I am well versed in the use of hydrazine)Parts of the F-16 use it too. This is very serious indeed and not some propaganda stunt.

Community produced game?
Dave replied to column5's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I have an off the wall question, has to do with game developing though. What does a piece of game code look like? I know a little off topic but you always hear that term. Is it ones ans zeros? Is it mathmatic equations? I am curious that's all. I know it's silly. -
I am alone too. Had to send my gift.

JSF Aggie is putting the final work on the campaign and terrain for the DS mod. Then its off to Wrench for target populating. We are going to wait and see if there is any words on the patch just to make sure nothing gets broke. But if it seems like its going to take longer, then we will go ahead and release. No ETA though. -
What did some of you get your significant others? I got my wife one of those Vermont Teddy Bears. The US Army Camo bear. She really likes it.

Fly from Dallas to Korea. I did that in 2002 to see my wife for 10 days. Talk about a long flight.

Interesting SAM Info
Dave posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Was going through the weps pack and was looking up various SAM's and compared them to their real world counterparts. SA-9 In game IR Guided with optical back up Real World IR Guided with optical back up SA-15 In game Radio Command with optical back up Real World Semi Active Homing Radar with optical back up SA-8 In game Radio Command with optical back up Real World Semi Active Homing Radar with optical back up SA-6 In game Semi Active Homing Radar with optical back up Real World Semi Active Homing Radar with optical back up SA-3 In game Semi Active Homing Radar Real World Semi Active Homing Radar SA-13 In game IR Guided with optical back up Real World IR Guided with optical back up SA-19 In game Semi Active Homing Radar with optical back up Real World Semi Active Homing Radar with optical back up SA-7 In game IR Guided with optical back up Real World IR Guided I think this might help answer why sometimes chaff, ECM and or stealth might not work. I mean if it has optical back up, unless you cloak, you are a viable target. -
Interesting SAM Info

You would be surprised who knows and doesn't know. But its still treated the same. Countries update their systems all the time, even the SA-2, and there are those who don't know about it. Thus its classification.
