  1. my latest upgraded to my system

This past weekend I bought a new Asus motherboard and a AMD 64 Semperon processor that runs at 2.8 GHz. The processor is a single core (haven't been impressed with the dual and multi-core processors). I also got 8 gigs of DDR 2 1066 MHz RAM. Now combined with my NVidia GTX 280 video card, I don't think I should have any performance issues with any sim that I would be using... hopefully.
  2. my latest upgraded to my system

Well, I finally hooked up my entire system and gave the upgraded rig a try at a heavily modded install of WOI. Results... smooth as silk with maximum settings! Weird thing though is that the FPS counter reads 12 to 13 FPS while on the runway but it seems like it's running above 30 fps. After take off the counter goes up to 20 to 30 something FPS. Now if I can only figure out what's causing it to minimize to the desktop every 3 minutes (been happening prior to the upgrade - think it might be a trojan virus).
  3. Your Fav Car movie

I liked the new Gone in 60 Seconds. There's also Driven and Days of Thunder
  4. Light Sabers

Oh lord... first eels, then lazer cats, now Jedi squirels.
  5. Excuse me, dumbazz.....

    True
  6. Saw this...........

There's something about it that doesn't seem real. It seems like both the F-18 and the apartment are either plastic models or computer generated. They both appear to be too "clean". I'm very skeptical about this shot.
  7. Afghanistan

It's called divide and conquer. Get the people against it's government by starting a revolt by reports of false facts. Overthrow the existing government, media heads come in to power and control the gullible public as the new ruling authority. Since they control the media, they can now broadcast "positive" news to the public to make it seem like they're doing an excellent job. However, since they don't have a clue on how to run a government and hate the military, as the liberal nut jobs as they are, they disband the armed forces, put the country into bankruptcy by handing out stimulus packages left and right, national moral is at an all time low, and it's the perfect setting for a quasi Al Queda / Taliban type force to storm in, be-head all the moronic media heads, install a dictatorship, and the gullible public now get the reality of the situation. I know, I know, very far fetch. Where's my tinfoil hat now. Fortunately, the majority of the American people are too lazy to really go out and overthrow a government. They just sit, complain, and if they do go out and do something, they just walk around the streets with stupid signs, backing up going home traffic on a Monday afternoon. However, if the Lakers were to win another championship at the same time, then you might get an armed response from the folks in L.A. Except they'll be killing each other because they have no clue who to really shoot at.

  10. Excuse me, dumbazz.....

Actually.... the man hole should've been coned off first before being opened. The fact is that they had to turn away from it to grab some cones after it was open, leaving it unattended. The average person crossing the street isn't going to think of a man hole being left open. What they should be thinking of is vehicle traffic passing by where they are crossing. Now of course, we all have our part of being aware of what's happening around us, and texting while crossing a street is not one of the best things to do. However, that doesn't remove the DEP workers responsiblity to make sure that the area where they are working at has been cordoned off as best as possible to keep the public from wandering in. Now if the area was coned off already, with caution tape, and the teen still walked through it and fell inside the man hole, then shame on her. But I have a feeling DEP is going to lose this law suite.
  11. Penguins...

  12. Actually, if you know what you're doing with the folders, you can have other ground objects setup to be targetable.
  13. That technique would require that armament of an optically guided weapon to be attached to the aircraft to use NV. This would only work while looking forward. The minute you turn or tilt your head, you'll be seeing the rest of the world in regular vision. Further more, when not using this NV method during day time flight, or when the optically guided weapon is no longer attached, you'll end up having a big blank screen in front of you, blocking your view of the cockpit. So in other words... bad idea.
  14. Looking at getting a new laptop

As the topics states. Right now, I have a Toshiba that sucks more than what I've seen on some sites. I got it back in 2006 for my deployment to Iraq. I never realized how poor performing it was until I ran Bridge Commander today with a 3rd party mod and the game became a slide show. So now I'm in the market to get a new laptop that can perform quite well. Do any of you guys know of something that can easily run a modded TW sim without issues? So far, I've only been able to find one at Best Buy going for over a $1,000.00 operating on a 2.2 GHz dual core from Intel.
  15. Excuse me, dumbazz.....

Or forgot to put it in park.

  17. On The Flightline Yesterday at WPAFB.

We had a B-52 at our base the other day as well, but I didn't know about it until after it left.

  19. TrackIR 5 reconsidered...

To counter act any ob jects that might be given off a reflection to the sensors, use large reflective stickers and stick/glue them on to a hat that you don't mind destroying. Preferably on the back of the hat. Have them positioned in a triangular formation on the hat, similar to the reflective clip-on. The amount of reflection off of those stickers should over power any other reflective object. Think of the sensor as the tracking optics on a sidewinder missile. You need to provide a stronger source to track you instead of something else.
  20. F-22J?

Hey Brain32, another good reason to export the F-22 is that it keeps the production facilities operating. If those are kept in business, we, the USA, will be able to order up more F-22 in the event we should ever need more in the future. If we don't export, and close down production now, it will be very difficult to restart production again because jobs will be lost, the employment at being such a facility will appear to be unreliable, and which will not be very encouraging to anybody wanting to seek work there. Plus, keep those facilities operating for export marketing allows more research and developments to be made for future upgrades to our Raptors. Look at how the F-16s and the F-15s evolved due to keeping the production lines operating due to exports. If we hadn't exported those aircrafts, I doubt we would have the F-16s and F-15s that we have today.
  21. Funniest stop ever

I just got pulled over tonight by LAPD for not having a front plate. It was two cops which happened to both be chicks. Now when they walked up to me, I had no idea why I was being stopped because I was driving under the speed limit. I also already knew that it was two female cops because I noticed them before they initiated the stop. Now keep in mind, I am also a cop with the federal government and I was in my uniform at the time. So I was all ready cracking a smile because what ever they stopped me for had to be little, but they did it to either find something bigger, or for training a new cop. So they walked up to me and the first thing I said is, "Howdy, how are my fellow law enforcement sisters doing tonight." The cop on the passenger side asks, "You're a cop?" I reply, "Yes I am. I'm a military police officer. Infact under DoD regs, I'm classifide as a federal police officer." The cop's tone changes to a bit uneasiness and says, "Well you can show my partner your ID. She's the one who stopped you." I reply, "Oh, ok." I turn to her partner and say, "Hi." She replies back, "Hi there." I notice that she's beaming a smile at me, finding the situation a bit humorous that they had stopped a cop. I then say, "Well let me see if I can get my ID out for you." I pull out my military ID and hand it to her. She looks at it really quick and says, "OK, you're good." I then said, "I noticed that you guys were watching me and I recognised that look, which says that you found something wrong and would be pulling me over." The first cop replys, "Yeah, we were stopping you because you didn't have a front plate." I then said, "Oh, well the story with that is because we've been getting harassed by the locals off base while driving our personal vehicles and we have a directed order to minimize the amount of info that we advertise about ourselves. Since the state of california doesn't rcognise us as actual cops, my plates aren't registered as confidential unless I can get authorization to get them registered as such. So I took off the front plate as part of that order. But since I already told you that I'm a cop, I'm sure you would want to see my badge." The cop on the driver's side says in a giggle, "OK." As I start pulling out my badge, the first cop says, "sir, that's all right. We appologize for stopping you sir. Have a good evening." They then run back to their cruiser and peal out as they make a U-turn to drive away. I guess I scared them some how. I just thought that was funny and had to share it.
  22. TrackIR 5 reconsidered...

Do you have any ambient light on around you or any thing reflective other than the Track Clip Pro that might be signalling the sensors? I've found that my watch can reflect light from the monitor, beaming it to the sensors, and fouls up head movement. I've had to take it off when ever I use the Track IR now. Other things that can reflect light can be fair skin, sweat, hair, light color print on clothing, glasses, etc...
  23. Funniest stop ever

Actually, I currently have my head shaved and I do look a lot like Bruce Willis right now. But Dave is right. Federal law will over-ride state law. In a sense, under certain conditions, I kind of out rank city cops because of my federal status. However, my jurisdiction is only at the base, but if martial law is ever imposed upon the populace (that's if all hell broke loose), I then have authority over city cops. Infact, during the Miramar airshow last year, we had some city cops and Marine augmentees posted with us, and they were placed under our command to use. Although, we never really exercised our authority over them because that's just not how we role with fellow military and law enforcement members. We worked as a team, being on the same level as everybody else. I made quite a lot of friends with San Diego P.D. and the Marines at Marimar. Got letters of appreciation from both the police department and the base commander for Marimar. I've already been selected as part of the team that will be going back there to help out for this year's airshow.
  24. Funniest stop ever

Ok, that's called stocking. I'll just have to do something stupid in front of them to get pulled over the next time I see them on patrol. Man, what a great excuse to give to a hot female cop after getting pulled over.
  25. Funniest stop ever

Remeber, I stated that we have been getting harrassed by the locals. In fact I just recently had someone nail a dried up and rotten piece of meat to my appartment door the other day. Three months ago, someone who didn't like cops or anybody affiliated with the government tried to drive one of our guys off the 215 fwy when he was driving to work in his personal car. So the threat right now is very real. Am I above the law? With some laws, such as this one, yes because there is a valid reason to break it. Infact, after that incident at my place the other night, I'm seeking authorization to get confidential plates. Actually, this topic reminded me of an administration of justice course that I took many years ago in which the instructor asked if cops are above the law. The answer was yes and no. There are some laws that cops are exempt from because of the nature of their job. I'm not exempt from speeding so I abide by the speed limit at all times. However, if I'm at my folks place (91 miles north of the base) and suddenly all hell breaks loose and thertes a major national security issue, then I would be authorized to exceed the speed limit to get back to the base. Believe me, if the front plate was reallly an issue they would have still let me off but tell me to fix it. For the average joe, they might have let them off but still tell them to fix it. The average joe isn't involved in the career field in which almost everybody and their cousin hates them. Cops are a target by society because society does not want to be regulated. Nobody likes to be told what to do. When I'm on patrol, 98% of the stops are brief and release (warnings). I don't give tickets to people that I wouldn't give to a cop unless I found something else going on that was definately not right. My reasons for not having a plate are valid. My dad has a security clearance for the work he does and he doesn't have a front plate. You need to understand that there are people out there that don't like folks who work for uncle sam, and some of these people that hate us will even try to stalk us, hurt us or our family, or anything else to make our lives that much more uncomfortable just because of our job. We live in a post 9/11 world and really need to start thinking in that sense. We're still stuck in pre 9/11 mindset and haven't gotten it in our heads that there are folks out there that want to see us dead. I'm not going to die easily, and I'm going to make it as hard as possible for someone to do something to me and my family. Now on to the next sub-topic, yes, they were hot. The only reason I'm upset from this stop is because I didn't get their numbers.
