  4. RIP, David Carradine

It wasn't suicide. It was just only an accident. Too bad though. I loved the shows he was on. RIP.
  5. vanessa..member

Holy cow! I thought it was a bit odd not seeing her around here lately. Good to know that she's recovering well. She's one of the coolest chicks here at CA. I hope to see her back here soon. Get well Vanessa. I, and many other members will be praying for you.
  6. My life is a soap opera

So, yesterday I passed my QC for installation patrol. My practical was an RVI and I did everything right except apprehending the subject for drug possession. But at least I spotted the drugs and did something about it. Last week while my car was at the shop to get a tranny mount replaced, a customer there was backing out and hit my car, causing a nice softball size dent. The cool thing is that person owns a car dealership and has already setup an appointment for my car to get repaired and have all the other scratches on it from road debris taken care of. On June 2nd, I have to go into court to fight a ticket I got from CHP. Apparently they have a standing order to issue citations if they spot a vehicle exceeding 15 mph over the speed limit, even if they pulled over the wrong vehicle, and they don't give any exceptions to cops either. Hopefully my presence in my Air Force blues might help me out a bit. After that, I have to go back to court on June 8th for jury duty. And last but not least, my sister got a speeding ticket for doing 64 in a 45 yesterday in my second car. She admitted doing the speed, and she does drive really fast, so she does deserve it. However, she can't take traffic school because she already took it within the last 18 months for another ticket. Her problem is getting up late and not organizing her time wisely to get to places on time, such as work. Hopefully she'll learn from this, but I doubt it. REASON FOR EDIT: TYPOS CAUSED BY USING A CELL PHONE TO TYPE INSTEAD OF AN ACTUAL KEYBOARD. GRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!1!11!!1
  7. Your Nemesis...

Can the AI run out of fuel? I thought that was removed? Anyways, I usually have my most difficulties going up against flankers..... unless I'm in the F-22. But rarely do I fly in something that would give me such an advantage. I like a fair fight. Makes things interesting.
  8. How to change user name

That question will definately get your username changed. I found that out... the hard way.
  9. My life is a soap opera

As a pipeliner, I wouldn't say it's hard, but more like frustrating because while you're trying to learn the basics of your job, there is competition going on within your own training flight for leadership status (which IMHO I think is really dumb to have in a training environment). You still get yelled at a little bit like they do in basic training, but only if you're a real duche bag. I never got yelled at. There's also mandatory PT. As a TDY, it's kind of like a vacation. You don't have to deal with the competition within the training flight because you're really not part of it. You don't get yelled at, even if you're a duche bag, unless you're challenging the instructor's competiency as an instructor in what they're teaching (and some of the things they teach are very very wrong - for example, we had one instructor that was literally using the video game "Splinter Cell" as an example of how we should be clearing buildings. All the TDYs who were prior Army and Marine got pissed, yelled at her that she was going to train all the pipeliner on how to get killed, and in the end they got yelled at by her supervisor to just shut up and take the lessons that she is providing). Don't worry though, what you learn there will get corrected and appropriately updated when you get to your unit. The tech school is more like a basic introduction into the career field. You really learn the real stuff when you get to your unit and when you get deployed (all though, some of the things that they teach at ground combat school is pretty much BS too). Oh, and you still have to do PT. As far as the training in general goes, you learn about the background and history of Security Forces, you'll learn about the UCMJ and the MCM in a lot more depth, you'll learn about being a close boundary sentry, how to do your duties at the gate, how to counduct random vehicle inspections, how to do the job on the law enforcement side (conducting stops, writing tickets, handcuffing), you'll learn your use of force model and what your actions should be from your risk perception (such as contact level of force, a very gayed up version of hand to hand fighitng tactics, and lethal force - you will not be trained on any form of chemical irritants or the use of military working dogs... that's for a more advanced level of training which can be provided to you once you get to your unit). You learn the basics of convoy duty, and the appropriate actions to take when you get ambushed or come up across a suspicous situation. You'll get qualified up on weapons, such as the M9, M-4, M-203, M-249, and hopefully the M-240b if the FATS are working (you don't get to fire off live rounds from the 240b, only a simulated range). You'll be doing a lot of foot work, where you're part of a foot patrol out in a East Asia type environment where you learn how to us your compass correctly when your out in the middle of no where, and to conduct reconaisance (your adversarys will be the other teams as they're patrolling and you are armed up with a limited number of blanks). Oh, and you have to clean your temporarily issued, f-ed up, Lackland crap weapons that will be getting used over and over and over again by different people who treat the weapos in accordance to their own idea of respect. Last, but not least, you'll learn how to guard aircraft, how to challenge individuals that break red into your area, and how freaken boring the job can be. The training is about 13 weeks long (over three months). There's some other things that you will also learn, but some of it is kind of security sensitive that can't be posted on the net.
  10. My life is a soap opera

    My body didn't
  11. The 3D model is complete aside from it needing to be unwrapped (which is about 45% done) and textured. What I really need though is a FM for it. I don't know how to do those kinds of things, aside from just minor tweaking. I kind of have an idea on how to setup some parts of the FM for the model to behave like a helo, but I don't know how to write it all down in the .ini. The following is a picture of what I was thinking of doing. The idea is to have a 6 engnines setup for the model. In the picture below, I've color coded where I think the engines should be postioned. Blue marks the area for two engines solely for the exhaust emiter. The four green sections marks where the remaining four engines would be positioned (I know they won't be able to rotate with the blades, but it's the spot where each blade extends at an equal distance on the y-axis from the fuselgae). Now I'm thinking of having those four eninges setup as rotating nozzles, just like on the harrier. The collective operations would adjust their angle of pitch, spanning from directing thrust downwards (let's say postion "0") to directing thrust upwards (postion "100") to simulate the apache's ability to hover inverted. The red arrows indicate the direction of thrust from the engines when rotated at a neutral setting (postion "50"). Now I don't know how to set that all up (don't even know if it's possible), but was wondering if someone here who knows how to do those kinds of things is willing to help me out with this. If so, send me a PM.
  12. My life is a soap opera

Actually, we just spam youtube with videos of us wrestling each other, shooting ourselves up with simunition rounds, or making a fake interview at Edwards AFB and calling it Iraq (you would be surprised what AF cops would do when they are really bored and desperate to stop the boredom).
  13. AH-64A WIP

I'm really sorry everybody for taking so long on this. I started building this thing a year ago and haven't gotten it completed yet. As Dave said, I just transfered from reserve status to active duty in the AGR program. I just finally moved into my own apartment and slowly getting my stuff moved in. My work cycle is 6 days on, 3 days off. I've had to focus the majority of my off time onto studying for my quality control test (which I just passed the other day) and now have to face contesting a traffic ticket on June 2 that I got last October (I haven't received a courtesy notice regarding the time and date for the ticket yet, so I'm hoping it got lost in the system and that I will show up to court for nothing). After that, I've been told that AFI-31-207 has been updated recently and because of that, everybody will have to retake a quality control test in June or July again. I've been primarily accessing the internet either via my G1 phone (which I'm finding out is a piece of crap), the computers at my unit, or my folk's computers when I visit their place on my off days (such as today). But I will get this, and my many other models completed.... some day.... before I die.
  14. My life is a soap opera

The answer to your question is no... there is no hangar 13. Just kidding, what's your question?
  15. My life is a soap opera

  17. N Korea issues warning to Seoul

Ya know, it took me a while to understand that joke. I was trying to figure out the connection between Napoleon and Popeye and totally missed the Mount Olive part. Wow, I'm really not with it today.
  18. F-35 too loud

Ya know, I only live about 2 to 3 miles away from my base and I don't even hear the F-16s take off and land. It really is stupid for retirees and other folks to move in and live that freaken close to a base if the sound of aircraft engines is a problem for them for the only sole purpose is to be that close to a BX, commisary, or medical. That's just plain selfishness there and apparently they never took home whatever they learned in their experience in the military. Most of these retirees also only served 5 to 6 years - pretty much their first and only contract of service. I can't tell you how many times up at the gate I've seen retiree ID cards and 9 out of 10 times it says E-4 or E-5. Those who have served more than that are usually the ones who understand the military and don't gripe or complain about anything when it comes to operations at the base. They've really been there and appreciate what goes on. Now for the morons that listen to hip hop music as loud as possible and complain about the noise level from the fighter jets, well that's what OSI is for.
  19. I Found A Purpose For YouTube

That's just disturbing, yet some how really funny at the same time.
  20. Oops C-5 twinkie

That's because there are pilots that like to land there planes without lowering the landing gears. Dover!... cough, cough
  21. My life is a soap opera

During the mean time though, I'm hitting on a really young female major who is a predator pilot when she comes through the main gate on days that I'm posted there. I've been challenged by everybody in my flight to get her number. She is considered "untouchable". However, she seems to really like talking to me.
  22. Hmmmm...good pics

It's only external stuff that they copied, which is something even I can do with at least 5 good hours of nothing to do at home with some balsa wood and glue. I highly doubt that it has the technology and performance that goes with it.
  23. Ah, you've got to love the internet....NOT

I think a real factor has to deal with what the subject mater of the site is about and what kind of an audience it draws. Most game sites are for games that are pretty much easy to operate and require little skill and patience to play. They're pretty much just point, click, and get the banana. And if they don't get the banana, they go into a hissy fit. The reason why youtube is such a horrible place is because it is literally point the mouse cursor over the play button, click the play button, and get the video of the banana. Flight sims are not of that genre, in which the player has to really understand and educate themselves on the dynamics involved in the sim, to know how to conduct radar operations, and how to operate an aircraft in a simulated world that for the most part uses real world physics. That's not something that can be accomplished within the first 15 minutes of playing the sim. It takes practice and patience, which is why I think the folks of the flight sim world are of a better crop. And then you come here at CA and not only do you get the folks of the flight sim world, you get them mixed in with the folks from the military world who keeps them in check
  24. RIP Major Donald Thompson

I just found out today that last month my uncle Don (retired Major USAF) had lost his battle to bone marrow cancer. Apparently, the family hasn't been pushing real hard to spread the word and that has me reasonably pissed off. The memorial service will be held this Saturday up in Stockton, which is about 400 miles north of where I'm at. Anyways, all that I know of my uncle's service is that he was a fighter pilot in the Korean War. Not too sure on what he flew, but it was either a F-86 or a F-9. I'm going to see if I can get some time off to attend the service so that at least someone in the family can give him proper respects for his service and sacrifice. I didn't know him all too well, but still he's family and he served his country - with honor.
  25. my latest upgraded to my system

So are you saying I got myself a bad processor? It only cost me about $45.00.
