SF2NA Clouds
ShrikeHawk replied to ShrikeHawk's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Not sure what you mean. The game runs just fine. Plays fine too. Switching out cloud1.tga gets an appropriate response. The replaced cloud shows up, but changing the count of clouds in environmentsystem.ini or the size gets no response at all. If there's a section in options.ini you need to see let me know. -
SF2NA Clouds

July. It's a modded folder. Original aircraft and ground objects removed and replaced. -

Cloudscape v3 09/22/2010 by ShrikeHawk Here's two cloud mods for the price of one. You get a cloud mod for Wings over Israel2 and Wings over Vietnam2. Each uses two cloud images: cloud1.tga and cloud2.tga. These images are different in both, but are interchangeable between the two mods. With just a simple file renaming you can try out any of the clouds in CloudSkins 1,2,or 3 in these mods. Experiment, play with it, and see what kind of skies you can build. The WOI2 mod is a variation of the new Widesky. The WoV2 mod is a variation of the default environmentsystem.ini. [CREDITS] Thanks to Cellinski and Insky Group for the original WideSky mod and the updated version for Thirdwire's 2nd Gen Sims. Thanks to Stick for trying it out and for the support. Thanks to TK for a fabulous sim and the wisdom to make it so moddable. -
Altitude for anti-shipping in SF2:NA
ShrikeHawk posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - World War II Forum
I have a ww2 PTO install from a copy of SF2:NA. I notice that all anti-shipping attacks happen at low level by default. That's right for the modern age, but for ww2 it stops dive-bombers from, you know, diving. Is there any way to change the default mission profile in SF2:NA? -

Thanks Kevin. I've been fiddling with the D3A Val, but so far I have no idea how it dive bombs by AI because they're too low to do it. -

Single Mission Dates missing years
ShrikeHawk posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - World War II Forum
I see this in my BoB install and Sweden install in SF2. In Single mission, the selectable mission dates include only one year, the last available for the plane. So for the 109E I have this in data.ini ServiceStartDATE=09/01/1939 ServiceEndDATE=11/20/1941 But in the single mission screen, the only available date is 1941 instead of 1939, and 1940, and 1941. How to fix this? -

Sweden Terrain not selectable
ShrikeHawk posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
All, I just installed the Scandinavian front mega package and placed all in a mod folder. When running the game, "Sweden" is not a selectable terrain. I have a merged install with SF2:E, SF2:V, SF2:I, patched up to July. Planes are visible and fly just fine. Just no Sweden. What am I missing? -

Ha! That worked. Removing the NavalMap=TRUE, did the trick. Most awesome. Thank you! By the way, my Sweden main terrain folder only contains 443 files which includes the three seasons folders. Am I missing something? -

Nope. No double terrains. It couldn't have been Reptilicus. I removed the retilicus.ini file. Definitely got both parts. Amusing fun fact though. Menus show up when I run the game. I do not have SF2:NA. Could that be a factor? What's next? -
Targt rich environment

I'm amazed at this mission. We must have been jumped by 16 Mig-17s. I shot a bunch down and there were still three left when I had to bug out. No ammo left. Sheesh! -

Really? For me the AIM-7s were damn near a guaranteed kill (with earlier SF2 installs). I recently installed everything with May2012 installers and only now I'm seeing AIM-7s that go ballistic or self-detonate. More realistic in my view. -

I use the gun a lot because, I just like using the gun a lot. I like rolling in from high above in the F-8 and streaking in at high speed. Not good params for a missile shot, but fun as hell for a gun kill. Okay, and sorry about being dense, but what's funny about the May patch? I haven't been around a lot so I'm not up on current events. -

I thought I would get 75%. One shot went wildly off course. The sky was so full of Migs the seeker locked onto a different Mig! I'm running on the May patch, so I don't know the advantages/disadvantages of it compared to others. But I'm really picky about firing parameters with the AIM-9. With every kill, the Mig was in a shallow turn (NOT pulling hard) and at low E so a violent maneuver wasn't likely. Usually, I was between 1.0 and 0.7 range. Shorter than that, I often get a miss, longer than that and the Mig has enough time to react, and it's a miss. I don't ALWAYS get 100%, but I do pretty well. Even with AIM-9D, I'm managing 50% pretty often. -

Too many Migs. There were still three left when I ran out of ammo. -
