Happy New Year! Any excuse to celebrate...I'll take it...

Eid mubarak to everybody! Muslim or not. I think glad tidings should be shared even if you don't follow the religion. That's why I still say "Merry Christmas" and avoid that "Seasons Greetings" PC b*llsh*t no matter what someone's "apparent" religious association is. What harm can come from wishing someone well?

CloudSkins3: Clouds For Days
ShrikeHawk posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
File Name: CloudSkins3: Clouds For Days File Submitter: ShrikeHawk File Submitted: 08 September 2010 File Category: SF2 Series Add On Terrains CloudSkins3: Clouds For Days by ShrikeHawk 09/08/2010 Here's a huge collection of cloud images. I've used all of these off and on for most of 2010. Many are closely related having only a slightly different paintjob from another. Others are very different, using a completely different alpha channel (dictates the shape of the cloud.) You can use these in any cloud setting you like in any way you like. They will work in any version of SF1 or SF2 or any version of First Eagles. This is NOT a complete mod. It is images only. Use these clouds only if you are minimally comfortable with modding. See you in the clouds! Click here to download this file -
F-35 engine fight gives rivals sense of deja vu
ShrikeHawk replied to Fates's topic in CombatACE News
Is this the reason why the F-35 is so delayed? -

Whoopsie! It's always better to check your facts first, eh?

I'll give it a try too.

Women were tougher back in those days
ShrikeHawk replied to carrick58's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
I totally believe it. It's a stunt, yes, but it really happened. They used to call people who did this, "wing walkers." It happened all the time in airshows after ww1, right alongside actual "barnstorming." My wife loved this vid. Thanks! She likes bad@ss women, and that was definitely bad@ss! -
For that price? You could get an American fighter, I suppose - a Piper Cub with an oil leak and slingshot in the cockpit...

New Screen Shots For DCS: A-10 Warthog
ShrikeHawk replied to Dave's topic in Digital Combat Simulator Series General Discussion
So Dave, what do you think of the gameplay of DCS? Is it easy enough to figure out? I got turned off on most modern combat sims because of the complexity. Thus, that's why I like TK's work so much. I liked LOMAC a lot but it's complexity and lack of modability turned me off. Is DCS a little easier like the SF series? -
Britain and France considering timeshare carriers...
ShrikeHawk replied to SayethWhaaaa's topic in Military and General Aviation
I'm with Gepard on this one. It's like sharing a woman. Somehow, the timing will never be right. It'll never work. Imagine if the French suddenly need the carrier quickly, and there's no time for re-supply. The French crew would be stuck eating bangers and mash. It could cause an outright mutiny! -
I guess the time has come for a new jump-jet. I will be sad to see the Harrier go. What a great airplane!

SF2 Screenshot Thread
ShrikeHawk replied to Stary's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Trying out new scattered clouds, and working on my BnZ tactics. I ended up with a VERY CLOSE gun kill. That's me watching, hoping the debris doesn't kill me. Hopefully, the clouds looks good too. -

Wo! Piecemeal your terrain looks terrific! -
Most cool. I'll keep an eye out for that one. It looks exciting.

Yeah, it probably is a bid to garner support for the F-35. Intercepting Bears is nothing unusual. It happened all through the Cold War.They would fly all along the Eastern seaboard on their way to Cuba. No big deal. It's just business as usual.

Iran unveils first bomber drone

It wants to be a REAL bomber when it grows up. Like the B-1.
