  1. Version 1.0

    350 downloads

The Continuation War Pt. B (see part A for a complete description).
  2. Great flying Do! That cockpit really is great too.
  3. Thanks Guys. Much appreciated. Upload will be ready in two weeks. (soon anyway). I knew there would be criticism. I can't do much about the terrain. That's not my specialty. This Swedish terrain is still gorgeous and more Scandinavian-looking than anything else I know of. If there's a better Non-DAT choice out there, I'd be happy to hear about it. The Hampden was placed in use by the Soviets with minimal repainting. They simply replaced the roundel with the red star (see below). Regarding the Yak, it's important to understand the difference between the Yak-1 and the Yak-1B. In this install I have the Yak-1B, which is virtually indistinguishable from the Yak-9D (see below). Yak-1 Yak-1B Yak-9D Why does the Yak-1B look nearly identical to the Yak-9D? Because it is. The Yak-9D used the same airframe design, same engine, same armament. The Yak-9D differed by employing different materials. It was much lighter. The primary difference between the early Yaks (Yak-1B, Yak-9D) and the later ones (Yak-9U, Yak-9P) was the latter models lacked a chin radiator. Wing and tail surfaces, and 95% of fuselage appeared identical. That's visually very, very, very close IMHO. I just learned the A-Team has recently released a Winter War install that uses no substitutes. For those with "Dual-Site Nirvana" that's great news. I just downloaded Winter War and will be happy that I have it. I'm trying to think of everyone, though. Not all enjoy dual-site access, and I would like everyone to enjoy this battle as much as I do. I've wanted this build since waaaaaaay back in the CFS2 days. It's a fascinating piece of history. I think it's important and fun to share this, even if imperfect.
  4. Bf-109G-2 in Finnish livery.
  5. First it's important to be sure you have the right Nations.ini file for ww2. Wrench has supplied that somewhere in the downloads section. And then be sure the terrain supports those nations. After that, a lot depends on the individual FMs (Flight Models) for the aircraft. If that's not setup properly, the AI isn't very aggressive. AI needs an FM that they can fly. If you're using airplanes collected with only barely modified FMs from SF1, then wingmen and enemies may just putter around aimlessly. PM me, and I can supply you with enemies that absolutely cannot wait to kill you. ;)
  6. Germany was very interested in the Fiat G.55. According to Wiki: "There still is no exact data about the G.55's captured by the Luftwaffe or acquired by Aeronautica Nazionale Repubblicana. About 18 G.55s were acquired by ANR while 12-20, or even 42, according to some reports, were requisitioned by the Luftwaffe" So it's no great stretch of the imagination, after Germany gave Finland Bf-109Gs, that they would also give Finland G.55s. 7. Person of Interest returns

This is awesome news. I love that show!
  8. Finnish Hawk 75A-8 versus Soviet Yak-1B (repurposed Pasko's Yak-9P)
  9. Hey Bjorn, I think my gefilte fish is getting cold...;)
  10. Hey Do - Yeah, it says, "This video contains content from Victor Entertainment. It is not available in your country." Maybe the songs (which I enjoyed by the way) are causing it to be restricted for copyright reasons?
  11. Have you tried this parameter under [Fog]: InclementColor=0.4,0.4,0.4
  12. projects delay

Hope all is well with you and your wife, Wrench. Ravenclaw: that looks like an excellent project. My daughter has me similarly occupied. Enjoy that time with your grandson. :)
  13. Great visuals, Do! That's Boom 'n Zoom with attitude.
  14. So I'm computer shopping can you lend a hand?

Thirdwire doesn't use multi-threading as far as I know. So you'll never use more than one CPU at once. Better to get fewer cores and greater speed. No. 2 is still your best I'd say. The graphics card is decent. You'll need that.
  15. Truth. The Delta Tomcat was a bird worth keeping. *sigh*
  16. Gads No! Not wasted scotch. I was maybe hoping for coffee snorted through the nose, but not that! ;) Truth be told, my regular readers no longer drink fluids while reading my blog.
  17. Northern Gannets Dive-Bombing school of baitfish

    That's always an awesome spectacle.
  18. I covered this in my blog a while back. Apparently the fighter was once stolen... https://momusnews.wordpress.com/2013/02/19/irans-stealth-fighter-stolen/
  19. My latest project: The Continuation War. Lots of skinning to do for this oft-forgotten David and Goliath battle. Jonathan's gorgeous Swedish terrain works pretty well for this. I did a lot of work with Ground Objects and now the flak is pretty heavy.
  20. I understand. Thanks for making them available at least. All you've done for the community is much appreciated!
  21. A while back, I was offered the LOD of an Re-2005. It came with only a couple files including a basic skin. I surprised myself and built out the rest, including DATA file, loadouts, decals, etc. Turns out I can do a whole lot so long as I've got an LOD. Geezer, if you can provide an LOD and a basic skin (so I know where everything is positioned) I can run with the rest. You made some gorgeous models. It would be a shame for them to go unfinished.
  22. Yep. That's the thing. I agreed not to share out DAT's LODs so I intend to respect that. I wish everyone would forgive and let bygones be bygones and all of DAT's resources would be everyone's again. In respect to 3DS I'd be happy to learn it and take on Cocas' (and maybe now Geezer's) files. Problem is, I don't have $3,000 laying around to buy it with. Is Raven still in the modeling biz? I loved his work. For now, skins are like teats on a boar without the LODs. There's no point. If someone could finish out Cocas' Buffalo, I'd make a new skin for it, and throw in an FM to boot.
  23. Oh there's more to it than that. The Lagg-3, Yak-1, Yak-7, I-153, I-152, SB-2, Blenheim Mk1, R-Z, Gladiator, and Bulldog are all DAT products. So this rather massive and varied install is something I cannot practically share. I also have an incredibly diverse SF2 MTO install with many new skins and FMs. It's so much fun and so exciting you honestly need to see heart doctor before you play it. I would love nothing more than to share it in the time-honored tradition of CA. Unfortunately, it's loaded with many DAT objects that a lot of folks are banned from using. So it really isn't practical to do so. *sigh* This schism between folks really chaps my hide sometimes.
  24. Eight F-4Bs meet eight Mig-17Fs. Upon getting a visual confirmation I had time for one sparrow launch before the merge. Splash one! I fumbled with the MFD (keyboard) and was a tad late telling my flight to attack. My wingmen flew just great during this mission. I ended up flying in wide circles and drawing the interest of the Migs. That made them easy prey for my flight members. I launched another sparrow with poor firing parameters and it went stupid. I followed with a heater and downed number two. We started playing "drag-n-bag" with the Migs. They'd chase me while I sought long-ranged targets for sparrow attack. The Mig behind me went up in flames while I downed another with a sparrow. My bird was sluggish with the Mk 4 gun pod and I was regretting not telling the ground crew to remove it. I moved in on a Mig for a 'winder shot when he put on the brakes. He got too close for heat, but perfect for guns. I was happy for the gun pod then. I went after other Migs but my wingmen were getting busy. They flamed the last two. In this mission, I think I did my best work as a decoy. Migs take preferential interest in the player aircraft. All I had to do is fly near to get their interest, then run for it. My speed kept me safe. The Migs chasing me in a straight line just became easy targets for my flight. The "Catch Me If You Can" maneuver works out great for the speedy Phantoms when egaged with 17s.
