  2. The A-7F was approximately 1.3 meters longer than its siblings, sported wing-strakes, and had a somewhat different aft fuselage section. You're not to achieve that through simple via .ini edits. "The principal feature of the YA-7F was incorporation of the Pratt & Whitney F100-PW-220 afterburning engine of 20,000 pounds thrust. This required structural modification of the fuselage to add 29.5 inches just forward of the wing, 18 inches immediately aft of the wing and upward rotation of the fuselage aft section to maintain ground clearance.     The Madagascar sequence in Casino Royale was filmed in the Bahamas, the building they showed under construction, has been "under construction", since the late 1980s...it is in Nassau, if I'm not mistaken. Also, the Art Museum in that same movie was obviously not in Miami (check the architechture, it's pre-art deco, central European).
  4. It looks as if your nukes are set to use a cluster bomb effect, and not Nuclear Fusion (or nuclear fission). That needs to corrected for every nuclear weapon in your weapondata.ini, using the correct weapon editor, for your patch level. There's information on how to accomplish that, in the Knowledge Base.

    The GAU-8.wav needs to be associated with it's gun using the guneditor, and it also needs to be added to the soundlist.ini (or it will not work). GAU8.wav

    Stick is correct, as is Stary. I lived within 5-10 city blocks of that church, for most of my life. In the movie, Tom Cruise's character walks out of his house (to the right, just out of the picture in the first image), walks around the corner, and winds up by the church...lol. They are over 5 miles apart, in two different towns, that are separated by a large body of water. Note their respective (and approximate) locations, as indicated on the map below.
  8. The OV-10A original release model never had .shd files. And, having .shd files is not a guarantee that a model would be entirely free of shadow anomalies. I've seen models exported to .lod, complete with 3dsMAX generated shadow files, that still had issues. If the original max file is unavailable, then you're SOL in as far as getting that fixed. If the "intense black smoke" that you're referring to, is visible through clouds and haze, then all I can suggest is that you check to see if it's attendent effect file has a positive z-buffer value, that can be reset to zero. You can also try the fix for "trees showing through clouds" in the knowledge base, and see if that helps. If it doesn't, then you're out of luck, as it would then be a global graphics engine issue, that only only the original game developer (Third Wire) can fix.

  12. The later model Starfighters were actually capable of supercruising at higher altitudes. Further reading: "The F-104 is generally restricted by heat in the compressor section of the engine and certain parts of the airframe. Early Starfighters could not exceed Mach 2.2 without potentially damaging the engine; on later models with the -19 engine this was increased to Mach 2.3. The canopy limit is around Mach 2.6. The airframe on late models is stable out to Mach 2.8. As top speed is approached in the F-104 the pilot must throttle back to keep from exceeding the safe limits, unlike almost any other plane. One US Air Force pilot wrote that in his experience the F-104 was the only plane he had ever flown where even the squadron dog could exceed all the red lines. For comparison, the normal top speed of the F-15 is Mach 2.3, with a time-limited pursuit mode of Mach 2.6. It can do this carrying some missiles, but not with drop tanks. (Later models of the Eagle with improved engines may be able to.) Keep in mind that the low-altitude record for flight speed was set in the Seventies with a slightly modified Starfighter. Which was owned by a civilian group, Darryl Greenameyer's Red Baron racing team. They went to the high desert and set the record at 988 mph, averaged from four passes, each at a height above ground level of less than a hundred meters. The record requires that this be done without landing or exceeding an altitude of 300 meters between passes. On one set of passes the plane averaged just over 1000 mph, but due to a fault in the timing equipment this is not official. Before this, military pilots of two-seat models given the task of taking some VIP for a ride liked to return to base on the deck and casually mention that they were exceeding the official world low altitude speed record. The F-104's thin wings not only have low drag, they are less affected by turbulence. It is the only plane around with the combination of endurance, handling and speed for setting such a record. You will read in some references that the F-104 is not very maneuverable. Well, down low and going slow, it isn't. However, high and fast - which was how it was designed to operate - it is just about untouchable. The secret is energy maneuvering, repeatedly trading speed for altitude and vice versa. Pilots of other aircraft flying practice dogfights against a Starfighter get left behind when their opponent makes a vertical maneuver they can't match. While they are trying to relocate the tiny plane, it suddenly dives on them from behind. Repeated slashing maneuvers leave opponents riddled, while providing little opportunity for retaliation. (Members of one squadron of F-105 pilots participating in dissimilar aircraft exercises complained that the only reason they came in second was that the F-104s kept going up and down, instead of turning hard like real airplanes do. One F-8 pilot in another dissimilar aircraft exercise chased down what he thought was a lone F-4 - which also used the J-79 engine - only to see an F-104 break off from close formation, going into a vertical climb.   13. Which F-4E? The hard wing F-4E and the F-4J are essentially the same. The later model (slatted-wing) F-4E could hold a turm better than an F-4J, as the leading edge slats allowed it to maintain a few more units of alpha before stall-buffet set in. Never, ever, allow any F-4 varient's airspeed to decay below 450 knots (indicated air speed) during a dogfight....
  14. Generally, an aircraft achieves it's maximum turn rate for its given-speed, at the point where it begins to experience the onset of stall buffet. There was a member here at CA, that owned a Lim-5, and he reported that it took very little stick displacement to achieve stall buffet....not that he tried to push through it...
  15. The SF '104 doesn't turn anywhere near as well as the SF F-4. You're confusing the lack of (or onset of) stall-buffet, with maneuverabilty. The SF F-104's stab values are such that they do not come anywhere near overcoming the wing's lift values at speed. Think of two people on a see-saw. In the F-104's case, the fulcrum of the see-saw is located closer to the tail section, so the person sitting on the "wing" side, has more leverage.
  16. Which title, and which patch level? There are different weapons editors for a reason, and the 2nd generation doesn't require an editor at all, as the individual 3rd party models have all the pertinent data contained within their model folders (which makes life much easier for modders and developers).
  17. I've noticed something really interesting in SF2X. I was attempting to chase two MiG-17s off my wingman's tail. I fired an AIM-9B at the lead MiG, and he turned into it, as did his wingman, who was in trail. The sidewinder missed the lead MiG, and detonated in his wake. His wingman flew into the blast, and suffered damage (a fuel leak). The MiG's wingman immediately broke off, and headed for home.

    He's probably really 12 or 13, and lives in the Midwest. As all his posts originate from the same IP (and it's from that same area, in the Midwest), one can only conclude that he is not in the Navy, nor an other branch of the armed forces, for that matter.
  19. Well, you could try creating a separate soundlist entry for it, defing it as "looped", and see if it works, but again, I have my doubts, as I'm sure it will terminate after the gear's locked.

    I'm in the process of reading "First in, Last out", a compilation of (true) stories by Wild Weasel pilots. One story that applies here, and answers your question of open-cockpit aerodynamics and wind-blast, involved an F-105 that was peppered with shrapnel from an SA-2 that exploded close by. The 'pit filled with dense, chocking smoke, but the aircraft remained flyable. The crew jettisoned the canopy at over 450 knots, and made it the 100 kilometers to the Gulf of Tonkin, where they both ejected safely (though only after a fire had burned away their hydraulic systems). Otherwise, they fully intended to refuel, and land at Da Nang!

    The A-10 you're probably referring to, is the default ThirdWire model that ships with WoE and SF2E. Now, WPNSSGT is working on a addonmodel (both an 'A and a 'C)...but they will most likely use another model's pit, as cockpits are harder to model than aircraft. And, last, the 'C model does not have a radar, nor does any other A-10 varient.
