  1. What do.....

Yachts and windmills have in common? How fitting that they're located in a town named "Holland"....
  2. PARK IT! TICKET!

A bit over a decade ago, a town in northern NJ lobbied both the State, and the State's transportation agency for funds to construct a "transit village" and a shopping plaza, around a rail road station that was being refurbished by that same transit agency. Within a few years, the place was booming, and began attracting commuters from well outside the area. It soon became a case of too much of a good thing. During the work week, parking would overflow from the commuter village and RR station (also filling the parking slots at the shopping plaza), and on to local streets. This resulted in on-the-street parking becoming almost non-existent for blocks in every direction. So, the town reacted in typical NJ fashion, and began issuing parking decals to its residents, just so they could ticket cars belonging to non-resident commuters. Now, that same town is crying that it's losing revenue, and that stores at the shopping plaza are closing at an alarming rate.
  3. No, as they are copyrighted files, and as such, anyone offering them up (other than the copyright holder), would be guilty of piracy.
  4. Well, C5 is playing crash test dummy, let's see what he says about it, first.
  5. Don, I'll send you what you need.....just give me a few minutes to put it all together
  6. What not to do...

These guys were filming surfers in 8-foot breakers, when their outboard motor stalled, allowing their 20 foot (6 meter) open boat to drift into 8 foot, breaking surf. It's hilarious to watch, though I grit my teeth at the thought of what the poor guy in the boat's bow platform must have felt, upon landing. The proper technique would have been to have taken the breakers at an angle, instead of directly head on. Enjoy: inside.wmv
  7. How to wash a helo....in 100 foot waves: http://shock.military.com/Shock/videos.do?...yContent=165279
  8. Simple. Set enemy skills to "hard". Also (and obviously), only those aircraft equipped with countermeasures can or will deploy them. BTW, what title and what patch level?
  9. FWD main battery (turrets 1 & 2)=Gunner ID1 AFT main batter (turrets 2 & 4)=Gunner ID2 AAA battery (all 37 mm)=Gunner ID3
  10. Remember, only three gunners allowed per ship.....
  11. Lets go Fishing...

A dragger ( a type of trawler ), managed to find a WWII vintage mine off the NJ coast about 15 years ago. The fools were bringing it in, and realized that they should call the Coast Guard just as they were transiting Manasquan inlet. The Coat Guard halted them, and subsequently closed Mamasquan inlet to all traffic, until an OD team arrived. The OD team towed the whole mess out to sea, and detonated the mine...along with the dragger.
  12. No, I'm referring to the aircraftobject.ini file, which must be extracted into the object folder and edited. In the original TW series, it's contained within the objectdata.cat.
  13. RIP, David Carradine

  14. It's actually a thinly-disguised "space cannon", capable of hurling house-sized objects, moonward. Notice the empty houses nearby. After all, would you risk living in one of them, knowing that you stood a good chance waking up in Tycho's Crater, or the on Sea of Tranquility?
  15. The terrain in all TW sims has had bump-shaders since SP4.
  16. The only why to control the rate, start, and end speed pf the windloop, is to modify the following entries in the aircraftobject.ini: [WindSoundOpen] MinSpeed=25.0 MinVolume=10 MinVolumeSpeed=25.0 MaxVolume=100 MaxVolumeSpeed=100.0 MinFreq=0.8 MinFreqSpeed=25.0 MaxFreq=1.6 MaxFreqSpeed=300.0 [WindSoundClosed] MinSpeed=100.0 MinVolume=0 MinVolumeSpeed=100.0 MaxVolume=80 MaxVolumeSpeed=300.0 MinFreq=0.8 MinFreqSpeed=100.0 MaxFreq=1.6 MaxFreqSpeed=300.0 Speeds are in meters oer second (adjust as needed), and the MinReq and MaxFreq values need to be adjusted to "1.0". Also, there is no way to have the windloop play outside of the cockpit...sorry, it's hardcoded so you'll have to live with it.
  17. And who was watching Cougar's back while you were showboating with the Su?
  18. Gunsight

It happens in all TW titles (depending on the 'pit), and there is no solution.
  19. Another little simmer has entered Combatace

    Congrats, Kev!
  20. You mean, water, like this? Harpoon.wmv
  21. Chop the throttle, pop out the speed brakes, dump your tanks, bombs, or rocket pods, try to "break" the aircraft loose by barrel-rolling using both the ailerons and the rudder. Believe it or not, some aircraft in real life (the P-38 comes to mind), were sometimes able to get out of a compression-stall by applying negative pitch! That means pushing the stick forward, even if it sounds like the last thing you'd want to do in that situation.
  22. The definition of a high speed stall (at least as far as crash investigators are concerned) is pretty much as I posted it. An aircraft in a dive accelerates (under dry power) until it reaches a speed where the center of lift has moved so far aft on its lifting surfaces, that the stabs or elevators cannot supply sufficient lift (leverage) to pull out of that dive., even at full deflection. Laden F-4s were known to achieve that state at speeds as low as 550 kias in shallow dives at low altitude. Early MiG-21s also suffered from that, as did F-105s. And no, that Flanker was never in a high speed stall. Modern aircraft have HUGE stabilators that pretty much prevent that.
