  1. The two apps I mentioned in my previous post are available as free downloads.
  2. They're all TGAs, so you'll need a suitable program that allows you to work with tga files and alpha layers (GIMP, Paint.net, etc.). You'll have to also change the shore tiles to match....they're a pain. Also, we've found that dark, solid colors work best, if you plan on using water shaders, as the shader effects are rendered as a clear, animated "mask", and look best against the aforementioned dark tiles.
  3. Turning off shader effects will make absolutely no difference in FPS on an 8800GT. Shadows, however, are CPU-intensive.
  4. This series is very CPU intensive, and even more so now with SP5. I'm running a Wolfdale E8400 overclocked to 3600 mHZ, and I still set my horizon distance to "normal".
  5. Infantry is treated as an object. So, if it were there, you would have been able to select it as a target when you were close enough. I'll bet it was a few randomly placed AAA sites, probably ZU23-2s or 14.7s.
  6. Nope....its object role has nothing to do with its seeming invulnerability. That trait is due to it having a flight deck. If you remove that (trait), it will no longer be able to serve as a carrier.
  7. F-22A boo boo

You're obviously not going to see a weapon with an in-service date of 1991 or later, in a mission flown before then.
  8. More German Casulties

    S!
  9. I've got a hunch. The answer to your dilema may have nothing to do with the "why" of it, but rather, the "when". What date are you attemptimg to equip aircraft with AMRAAMS?
  10. Anyone have this Hard Drive?

Had two WDs go Tango Uniform on me back in late 1998 (a 4.2 GB and a 6.4 GB), and none since then. I've replaced 6 or 7 Maxtors since the late 90s, due to failures. Never had a Seagate fail.
  11. One good turn deserves another.....Lookee what I got!!!!!! (I can just hear C5 groaning all the way up here )
  12. Nike Ajax....$3500 at an Army/Navy surplus store. The expressions on your neighbor's faces: priceless.... http://www.roadsideamerica.com/news/5796
  13. Start your own Nike site

Another website, with a few pics: http://www.nikemissile.org/sandyhook.htm
  14. That's right...it's off. A constant acceleration at 0.077 G's for 3600 seconds equates to a distance travled of 4894797.6 meters , or 4894.7976 kilometers. Oh, wait, it said 4900 km. It's off by a stunning 5 klicks....lol Do you realize that if you were able to maintain a constant 1 G acceleration, in less than 3 years time, you'd be traveling at almost the speed of light? lol
  15. Acceleration / G-force Calculator (middle of page) http://www.angelfire.com/empire/blueyard/calcs.html Speed Units Converter http://www.unitarium.com/speed
  16. History Channel Foibles

What's wrong with that? Like the song says "rust never sleeps"
  17. Just wiped & reset my computer....

Go here http://www.tweakguides.com/TGTC.html and download the appropriate guide (in PDF format) for your OS. You'll find the guides indispensable.
  18. You employ your math skills. Average acceleration (G force) times the duration of the missile's booster and sustainer, if applicable, equals terminal velocity. Oversimplified to be sure, but it gets you in the ballpark.

  20. No, meaning that the radars on the F-14, particularly the later varients (D-model), were just about jam-proof out to an incredible range.
  21. Best I could find showing both the TFX, and the F-111
