I have to show this to Tomcat74, who started the model way back in 2005, and I must say that Oli (Bpao) would also have been impressed with what you have been able to accomplish. These images, which date back to 11/18/2007, will show you how far Blackbird has taken this model:- 471 replies

SF2V's Terrain Problem
Fubar512 replied to HuuTungNguyen's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
OK, it appears that the air and ground pack may use a different tile set, which is causing your issue. It may be calling out terrain tiles that do not exist in the default VietnamSEA terrain. You have several options. The one that I recommend, is to use the "Green Hell 3.5" terrain tiles by Stary: http://combatace.com/files/file/14268-green-hell-35/ Be careful though, there are two tile sizes used, 1024 and 512. The 1024-sized tiles require a powerful computer to run well. -

Ed, what Martin is trying to say, is that the center pane of the windscreen is perfectly flat, with absolutely no curvature to it. He's just being helpful. See below: -
A debate that's been raging since the end of the Muscle car era in the early 1970s is finally addressed. My Money's on the Chevelle SS I'll admit to a bit of bias here, as I once owned a '68 Chevelle SS 396, a '69 Charger R/T 440, a '69 and a '70 AMX 390, and a '69 Mustang GT ragtop (with a 351 Windsor). And, I never paid more than $1800 US for any of them! Of course, that was back in the mid-late 1970s, when all them were considered to be nothing more than "normal" used cars. Enjoy! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gsUBn9bTfIc#t=2484

RC-135 Anyone?

You can always get around the latter rule, by constructing and deploying an excrement catapult, and hoping that the police don't seize it -

Eric, wasn't that one of the models that we setup with a virtual G-limiter? -

Yeyeye made the latest ones. The original ones were a collaboration between Oli and Marcelo. -
Then you will find that the movie is really quite poor when compared to the book. I suggest that you also read "Intruders" by the same author. It is the next sequel in the series chronological timeline, followed by "Final Flight", "The Minotaur" (and then the others).

Ah, so the challenge was answered that long ago.... You know the one; You ask a question of someone, and they respond with, "Does a bear shiit in the woods?". "No, sometimes he does so in a B-58's ejection capsule"

How do you get Effects to work with 3rd party add-on aircraft in SF2: NA?
Fubar512 replied to Dillon's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
Dillon, You're spinning your wheels and confusing yourself. The last two statements in the options.ini should read like so: [Mods] ModsEnabled=TRUE Directory=C:\Users\Leo\Saved Games\ThirdWire\StrikeFighters2 NorthAtlantic Editors=StrikeFighters2 [screenShots] Directory=C:\Users\Leo\Saved Games\ThirdWire\StrikeFighters2 NorthAtlantic\ScreenShots Format=JPG After you edit the two statements to match the above, move all the files and folders you've created into the main StrikeFighters2 NorthAtlantic folder and delete the "StrikeFighters2 NorthAtlantic - Mod" folder. -

That's really only applicable if you're creating a separate install, for say, the Korean Air War Mod (etc.). It is not something that you need to do in your case. Read this: http://combatace.com/topic/62302-what-is-the-mod-folder/ -
The cable companies are simply upset with the rise and popularity of streaming services, that provide a less-expensive alternative to their cable programing . Quite a few people have "cut the cord", completely eliminating cable, and get their television straight from these services. And soon, HBO will offer streaming subscriptions. Since most people receive their internet service from their cable provider, it doesn't take a genius to see why the cable companies (Comcast & TW in particular) are going out of their way to throttle the bandwidth that one has already paid for. I am fortunate in that my cable/internet/telco provider doesn't subscribe to this draconian philosophy....at least not yet. I see Net Neutrality as a way to keep them honest.

Fubar512 replied to Dillon's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
OK, the folder structure is wrong. Everything should be in the Strikefighters2 NorthAtlantic folder. That is what everyone refers to as the "mod" folder. Move all the folders that are currently in your "Strikefighters2 NorthAtlantic-mod" folder, up one level, into the Strikefighters2 NorthAtlantic folder, and all should be fine. -
F-4 Rocket loadout
Fubar512 replied to jborelli's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
One possibility, and one probability. Possibly, It wasn't set up that way, because the game developer could not find any historic instance where that particular load out was used. And probably, because there isn't any coding for it in the game engine. -

Fubar512 replied to Dillon's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
Well, I believe that you've just provided an answer. You've probably double nested the files. For example, from the carrier illumination mod readme: To install: Simply drag the contents of the zip file, which are the two folders, "effects and groundobject", into the mod (saved games) folder of the desired title. For example, using SF2NA, the default path would be "YOUR NAME/Saved Games/Thirdwire/StrikeFighters2 NorthAtlantic That simply means exactly what is written, that you should drag the contents of the archive into the main directory. That prevents nesting , that is, creating unwanted subfolders. In your effects folder, there should be nothing other than files. There should be no subfolders. As to your A-6 issue, the LOD files are locked away inside the Objectdata002.cat file, which is locked to discourage piracy. However, the path statement for them is already in place in the A-6x.ini file. I suggest that you take some time and peruse the knowledge base. It's a great way to spend an evening, and should greatly help you understand how this series works. -
How do you get Effects to work with 3rd party add-on aircraft in SF2: NA?
Fubar512 replied to Dillon's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
No, unless the effects that you're trying to use are not SF2 compliant. But that doesn't explain the carrier illumination effects not working, because they were specifically written for SF2's DX10 shaders. And BTW, all flavors of SF2 behave the same way, in as far as effects and models are concerned. The only difference is patch level, and if you've installed SF2NA over earlier versions of SF2, you're patched up to at least that level. You're obviously missing a step somewhere. -

What folder are you placing the effects in? It should be under C:\Users\YourName\Saved Games\Thirdwire\SF2version\Effects -

How do you know it's an LCAC, as opposed to say, an LCAC-E? Because it was shown here, I proclaim it an LCAC-E. -
That's how they attack prey, Russ. They flare their wings and tail to slow their momentum, and then extend their talons just before the strike. Here's a vid of a Goshawk attacking a water-filled balloon in slow motion.

LOL, I hope I'm not adding to the confusion, but quite often, it's not a Red Tailed Hawk that you hear....it's a Blue Jay imitating a hawk to scare other birds away from a potential meal!
