Thanks Snailman. This model deserves to be released so everyone can enjoy it.

And another callout to Krizis. I've even tried PM'ing Lindr, in the hopes that he can contact him. I have had this model going on 5-6 years now, and would like to release it.

The Bump Mapping Thread
Fubar512 replied to Wrench's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
AFAIK, bump maps must be added as a material texture during the model creation process. -
I found this article while searching for a good sync utility for my smart phone: http://www.wikihow.com/Play-Android-Games-on-a-PC-with-BlueStacks This one provides a bit more information, including how to change the native BlueStacks GUI: http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2014/03/12/how-to-run-android-games-in-windows/

The east-coast schedule has this at 9:00 PM tonight, with an encore presentation at 11 PM. Thanks, Kevin.

SF2: NA - USN Carriers with deck lights - how difficult ?
Fubar512 replied to Boresight's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
I do believe that you're right. And the bright flashing green light off and above the starboard quarter of the carrier in the second video is an anti-collision light on the "angel", an MH-60 helo. -
SF2: NA - USN Carriers with deck lights - how difficult ?
Fubar512 replied to Boresight's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
Boresight, My colleagues and I reviewed real life imagery from night traps, and one of the team served on a carrier. We were all quite satisfied that the level of illumination was correct. Now, this really may not mean much in the tunnel-visioned, faux dark world of a computer flight simulation (as I'm sure that our real-life aviators would agree), but watch these two videos and judge for yourself : Due to the method with which we added the deck illumination, increasing its intensity may result in undesirable visual anomalies, and cause the deck illumination to be unnaturally bright during the day (it cannot be switched on or off). -

There's a package in the SF2 downloads section that addresses this: http://combatace.com/files/file/14598-carrier-deck-illumination/ -

Take care of yourself first, everything else is secondary, and can wait. -
Do Saitek flight instruments work with Strike Fighter?
Fubar512 replied to Akmatov's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
I've just finished texting Dave, and he recommends these: http://www.thrustmaster.com/en_US/products/mfd-cougar-pack -
Is SF2 now primarily a mod community project?
Fubar512 replied to Akmatov's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Is fuel being delivered? Otherwise, it's a pointless exercise. -
Do Saitek flight instruments work with Strike Fighter?
Fubar512 replied to Akmatov's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
I believe that Dave, and possibly Streakeagle as well, were experimenting with the Thrustmaster panels in SF. If either replies that they worked for them, chances are that the Saitek panels will be compatible, as well. Just make sure that the return policy of your vendor-of-choice isn't too draconian. -
BitDefender issue
Fubar512 replied to keithrose's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Does it have a gaming mode? Some AV suites do. I can verify that the latest release of ESET NOD32 does, though it is manual. UPDATE: Bitdefender does have an auto game mode: http://www.bitdefender.com/support/what-to-do-when-autopilot-autoscan-auto-update-are-randomly-disabled-1088.html -
I've always been of the opinion that Arthur Kennedy sounded very much like George Kennedy, ("Bob" in this video), though there's no relation between the two.

He probably stopped by for the beer, and found to his dismay that you've already drank all of it.

Good find. This is a compelling read.

The missing fifth midget sub that took part in the Pearl Harbor attack has been found, and for what surprisingly appears to be the second time. This episode of Nova was broadcast a few years ago, though I find it makes for interesting viewing, especially since the "explosives" testing was performed literally across the road from me, at the Earle Naval Weapons depot in Colts Neck, NJ. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vxDueofD_3U

I must say that this is the wrong aircraft type and the wrong bomb type to use against a Hipper-class cruiser. The escorts are another matter....
-
You too, Falcon? LOL. Wrench is now involved, as well.

It's not the same game. The 3D models and effects are carried over, but the flight and physics dynamics are simplified, and the terrain isn't "historical" to the degree that WoP's is. As such, War Thunder is tailored to multiplayer, whereas Wings of Prey (due to MP support being dropped) is now a single-player game. I do believe, however, that War Thunder is one of the best things to happen in the PC-gaming arena in the last few years, as it is attracting new players into flying (and tank) games. I'm of the opinion that eventually a significant number of those same players will eventually discover flight simulators, and become simmers. When that happens, they'll start to not just demand realism, but realism served along with cutting-edge graphics.

Yes, the P-51D in this game is indeed a visual treat...especially when illuminated by searchlights
