AWACS Questions
Fubar512 replied to allenjb42's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
If you're asking why they don't link to the player's radar and provide an expanded radar "picture", the answer is twofold: A) It is mostly due to the avionics of the era that this series covers B) That is something that you must ask TK at Thirdwire's site. If you're asking why they do not show up on threat displays as emitters, then refer to answer "B" above. That's something that we'd all like to see implemented. -

This happened at Bagram air base yesterday...looks as if something went terribly wrong with the FBW system just after the aircraft rotated. 7 passengers and crew perished in the accident. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=icfVsql38oc

long shadows on Fj Fury...
Fubar512 replied to slick cowboy's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
It's an issue with the 3D model itself, and short of turning off the shadow for that model (in its .ini file), there's no workaround. -

Against any MiG-15 or 17, rolling and pulling will gain you some separation, as both those models have crappy roll rates when compared to their western counterparts. Diving also forces them to pull out before you do, as they both also have issues pulling out of a near-Mach dive.

RAZBAM A-6 'pits (part 2?), @SupGen

The A-6's fuel guage works well, and has always worked. Load the aircraft with 50% fuel at the beginning of a mission, and no drop tanks, and tell me what it reads, -
Yes, the Twinkie, that iconic junk-food cake is set to stage a comeback by the beginning of this Summer, after its makers shuttered their doors last year: http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2013/04/08/twinkies-are-coming-back-the-metropoulous-brothers-on-the-brand.html

A lot of our old favorites have changed, and seldom for the better. Remember when McDonald's apple pies were fried (instead of baked)? http://sweets.seriouseats.com/2012/04/so-you-miss-deep-fried-mcdonalds-apple-pies.html We had a regional bakery here in the Northeast, called "Drake's Cakes". They were the originators of Ring-Dings, Funny-Bones, and Devil-Dogs. They were brought out by Hostess some time ago, though Hostess kept marketing them until the end. I hope that the new owners of Hostess revive them, as well. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drake's

Commenting that it is taking someone too long to complete a freeware project isn't wrong? It is considered extremely rude, and is certainly not tolerated here. -
You've been given some good advice so far, so I will keep it simple: Do not give up hope! I will include you in prayers tonight.

You can only animate objects that have movable or rotatable components. If that pilot model doesn't have them defined, chances are that it is not meant to be animated. -

AA missiles... Seeker/Launch range Guidance...
Fubar512 replied to Snailman's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
Mid-course correction is meant for SAMs, not AAMs (with the possible exception of AIM-54s and other long range AAMs). IRMs do not require any additional form of correction, as they constantly follow (and compensate for the apparent movement of) the heat source of their intended target. Beam riders follow the narrow guidance beam of their launch platform, or SAM radar (SA-2s, for example, were beam riders) to their targets. That simply means that it's up to the pilot of the launch platform to maintain a very tight lock of his intended target, as opposed to the "looser" tracking demands afforded to SAHMs, due to the aforementioned pursuit profile.
