    LOL....as Wrench attempted to say "That is just wrong on sooooo many levels, man!". A few years ago, a friend who is a gunsmith showed me his "bling" special. It was a nickled 1911 with gold-anodized aluminum grips, gold-plated recoil spring plug, gold grip-safety, and a gold trigger. To make matters worse, he hand polished the .45 ACP ammo, so it looked like it was gold plated...
  6. Frequencies need to match the guidence radar, and if you want HOJ to work properly, the range of the targets jamming freqs. CCM = counter-counter measure. Noise Rejection = self-explanatory. They are both percentages, 0 = none, 100 = total rejection of both jamming freqs and counter measure effectiveness.
  7. Home on jam works well. It's easy enough to test: Set up a naval mission against a ship equipped with SAMs, and make sure that they have that specific capability flag (HOJ) enabled. Fly against the ship with jamming off, and use chaff. Then, try it with HOJ on, and dump chaff. Run it ten times each way, and compare the averages. No HOJ, with chaff, 0 intercepts for 10 missions flown. HOJ on with chaff, 3 intercepts out of 10 missions flown. Remember that the frequencies should match (or overlap).

  10. "ParkingMaxSpan=12.0" Refers to the largest aircraft types that fit within that particular winspan parameter (with wings folded) that will be placed in that parking spot, by the system. If you tweak the folded span values on both the E-2s and F-18s, and adjust the parking span values accordingly on the carrier, yes, you can "limit" to some extent, which aircraft are placed in what area.
  11. It was just a periscope, and "fake" (non-lod) missiles, simulating SS-N-4s. They used radar homing, and the trick to get them to launch was to position a radar-equipped "threat", such as a destroyer, nearby. The sub would then attempt to engage the destroyer, but the missile's rapid acceleration and huge turn radius would prevent them from hitting that target. They would instead home-in on strategically-based ASRs (usually placed within a city or port facility), usually 200-400 KM from the launch point. I made a video of such a launch, following the missile through its flight, right on down to the detonation of its simulated 1 mega-ton warhead, over a port facility on the desert map. The site that the video was hosted on is long-gone. I'd say this was around 2005-2006.
  12. It won't make too much of a difference. The shader itself needs to be edited in order to increase the number of water bumps that are tiled per square kilometer. Then, you run into another issue, you begin to encounter "edges" in the shader effect much more frequently.

    I've had similar experiences. The quality of today's components is not comparable to that of similar components from 10-15 years ago. Motherboards were made with more layers, optical drives had thicker drive trays, and the 300 watt power supplies of the day seem to have weighed more than the 700+ watt models of today.

    Not really..... Just someone's 1993 Mercedes that washed into Barnegat Bay, NJ as a result of Hurricane Sandy's 13 - foot storm surge tearing across the area's barrier islands. E In this series, engines have intake and exhuast temperature thresholds that can be exceeded by staying in afterburner for too long, or by attempting to achieve too high an airspeed at low altitudes. You can also suffer an engine failure from low oil pressure, or high oil temperature (both of those occur only after your engine is damaged by either cannon fire or missile fragments).
  24. Both are incorrect as far as the novel is concerned. The heat ray is supposed to aimed and focused by a crescent-shaped mirror, They actually got that correct in the Steven Spielberg version, as you can see the "crescent mirror" being deployed in a few scenes from that movie.
