  1. Huge Freakin Storm!

Southern Monmouth County here, between Wall, Colts Neck, and Howell. They now predict that the eye will come ashore between Ocean City and Atlantic City. We had a 76 mph gust at the local airport, and I've lost power twice, so far. Here's the data from a Buoy 25 nautical miles south of Fire Island Inlet. NY: Winds: NE (50°) at 48.6 knots gusting to 64.1 knots Significant Wave Height: 26.6 ft Dominant Wave Period: 15 sec Mean Wave Direction: ENE (69°) Atmospheric Pressure: 28.49 in and falling rapidly Air Temperature: 62.1 F Dew Point: 62.1 F Water Temperature: 59.5 F

  3. Huge Freakin Storm!

Viper, the NY MTA has a few pieces of equipment that date back almost a hundred years. They just keep refurbishing it, as nothing comperable (read that as reliable) is manufactured today.
  4. Huge Freakin Storm!

Jedi, Have you ever experienced a Nor'easter? We're lucky in that this did not occur late enough in the year to get frozen percipitation. One that hit five years ago (in late February) coated all stationary objects with several inches of ice, and knocked out the power in my complex for the better part of a week. It also packed 60 mph gusts. The eye-wall of Sandy is expected to come ashore less than twenty miles south of me. The last estimate was for sustained catagory one winds on the coast, and 80-mph gusts inland (I live 7 miles inland, and 90 feet above sea level). Our real worry here is flooding. We live near a resevoir that's feed by literally dozens of creeks. That resevoir was built by damming the Manasquan River, which flows into the Atlantic. As the storm surge hits, the lower Manasquan will of course overflow, as the storm is expected to hit at high tide. They have already evacuated people from the barrier islands south of Manasquan Inlet. Anyhow, the normal protocol for the resevoir overflowing its banks, is to release water into the Manasquan River. Well, how can you release water into an already overflowing river? So, guess what? All those creeks that feed the resevoir overflow their banks, which is what occurred with Tropical Storm Irene last year. You do remember the images I posted from that minor event, right?
  5. HOLY SH&^T!

At any rate, as Bill Cosby once said; "In those kind of situations, I find that there is one absolute, one constant, and I don't need to mention it here. But I will give you a hint: First you say it, then you do it."
  6. Yes, Create some Israeli frigates and torpedo boats, and you'll then see them. Jonathan! Jonathan! Sorry, couldn't resist.... I saw the original "Rollerball" (with James Caan is the lead role), for only the second time in like 37 years this past weekend : ) Anway, I just encountered an E-2, and E-3, and an A-50 in a system-generated single mission.
  7. Single mission, and it was generated by the system, not placed by me.
  8. Interesting, because I have an SF2NA mission in which an E-3 Sentry shows up as an AWACS.
  9. You need to add "NavalMap=TRUE" in the terrain.ini, and you need to edit the aircraft's data.ini to match the new parameters. Add the following parameters under the indicated sections: [MissionData] AircraftRole=TRANSPORT PrimaryRoles=EARLY_WARNING SecondaryRoles=NAVAL_SEARCH [DetectSystem] RadarType=AEW_SEARCH RadarFamilyName=AEW<-----can be substituted for E-2, E-3, A-50, etc. Don't expect to "see" an aircraft so equipped on your RWR, as ThirdWire has apparently not enabled that in the various avionics dll files (yet).
  10. Not a bad guess for 1977

I'm afraid that you're confusing the book with the movie. Even in "Firefox Down" (Which Craig Thomas dedicated to Clint Eastwood, and which was written two years after the motion picture's release), Thomas still refers to the Firefox as having a "sharp nose cone", which puts the decripition at odds with a faceted airframe. You must also keep in mind that the only known example of a "stealth" aircraft the general public had seen up until then, was the Testor's model kit of the non-existant F-19!
  11. In extremely dry conditions (think desert) an aircraft exceeding the Mach at low level, is said to telegraph its approach with the crackle of static electricity. Otherwise, its approach would be silent, in stark contrast to its passing!
  12. The B940 is a dual-core processor. The current SF2 releases are really optimized for quad-core systems with discrete video cards. The SF2 series titles will run on your system, as long as you do not set all the graphics options on maximum,
  13. TU-22RD Blinder over the North Atlantic. Textures by Whiteknight06604.
  14. Are you using the built in mission builder? It allows for 10 ships in a task force/battle group. The very first entry will be the center of the group, and the builder will automatically set the distances and offsets of whichever ships you chose to escort the "flagship". If you find that have multiple ships of the same type occupying the same coordinates, I'd say that you were using the original release of SF2NA, which had that bug when creating battle groups.
  15. Not a bad guess for 1977

The Firefox in the novels was not stealthy due to it's shape, but rather due to either a device, or a coating (Craig Thomas never went into detail in either Firefox novel). The device/coating became ineffective once Gant submer......errrrrr.....I'm not going to spoil it for you....read both novels!
  16. Did this one for a friend at another site. This is the bird he actually flew in 1976. And, before I forget, Thanks Wrench!
  17. I've recieved the OK from Julhelm to release his Kresta II guided missile cruiser....it'll be available for download later this evening! Just finishing up the Hull numbers (matching them to the respective vessel names) while Julhelm tweaks the textures.
  18. I'd say that you're missing the necessary sound file for the bird in question.
  19. File Name: Kresta II Version 1.0 File Submitter: Fubar512 File Submitted: 13 October 2012 File Category: Cruisers Kresta II Class Cruiser by Julhelm This model represents the Soviet Project 1134A Kresta II class anti-submarine cruiser, which served with the Soviet and Russian Fleets from the late 1960s into the early 1990s. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kresta_II_class_cruiser This model was designed and optimized for SF2:NA, and that means Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8. At the very least it requires the latest SF2 series patch for its systems and DX10 visual effects to work properly. To install this package, simply place the folders located inside the .ZIP archive into the mod folder of whichever SF2 title you desire the ship to appear in. Additional work will be required on your part to ensure that the ship's TEWS RWR symbol (TopSail) is added to the RWR list of any aircraft so equipped. Instructions on how to do this, can be found on the SF2 knowledge base, courtesy of EricJ: http://combatace.com/topic/44441-making-a-custom-tga-for-tews-radar-warning-recievers/ The SA-N-3 model that’s included, is a high-poly version, that will replace the default Third Wire version. It does not adversely effect frame rates, and will work well on the SF2:NA Kiev model, as well. The supplied sound effects will require editing of the soundlist.ini file in order to work. I’ve included a modified soundlist.ini file, for those who do not have it extracted. Warning: Be careful if you already have an existing custom soundlist.ini file, as it will be overwritten. In that case, simply add the following lines (shown below), taking care to follow the existing numbering sequence (the soundlist.ini will reside in your flight folder). Use the supplied soundlist.ini as a guide. SoundFileXXX=Underway SoundFileXXX=ReductionGear SoundFileXXX=CIWS SoundFileXXX=SAMLaunch SoundFileXXX=AK725 [underway] Priority=Normal 3DSound=TRUE DopplerEffect=TRUE Looped=TRUE NumBuffers=2 MaxDist=250.000000 MinDist=10.000000 InsideConeAngle=360 OutsideConeAngle=360 ConeOutsideVolume=100 [ReductionGear] Priority=NORMAL 3DSound=TRUE DopplerEffect=TRUE Looped=TRUE NumBuffers=4 MaxDist=2000.000000 MinDist=10.000000 InsideConeAngle=360 OutsideConeAngle=360 ConeOutsideVolume=100 [CIWS] Priority= Normal Looped=TRUE NumBuffers=2 3DSound=TRUE DopplerEffect=FALSE MaxDist=2000.000000 MinDist=50.000000 InsideConeAngle=360 OutsideConeAngle=360 ConeOutsideVolume=100 [sAMLaunch] Priority=Normal 3DSound=TRUE NumBuffers=2 MaxDist=10000.000000 MinDist=100.000000 InsideConeAngle=360 OutsideConeAngle=360 ConeOutsideVolume=0 [AK725] Priority=Low Looped=FALSE NumBuffers=4 3DSound=TRUE DopplerEffect=FALSE MaxDist=1000.000000 MinDist=50.000000 InsideConeAngle=360 OutsideConeAngle=360 Known issues: 1) The main radar antenna (Top Sail) doesn’t have a double-sided mesh, so as it rotates, you will notice that the face of the antenna loses its “grid”. This will be rectified in a later release, when the developer manages to catch a break from his busy schedule.
