  1. Try to stop a barrage of 48 Harpoons, you just can't get'em all. The Ulyanovsk's aircraft go flying, and not they way the were intended to Mission accomplished, smoking for home and scaring the crap out of the fish on the way there.
  2. Happy Birthday to...

    Happy Birthday!
  3. Happy Birthday to....

    Happy Birthday, Ken!
  4. That's not true at all. They are quite visible at launch, and in flight, as evidenced by the video.
  5. Aircraft sound effects do not require entries in the soundlist. The Engine fire sound has not worked since the first series was released, back in November of 2002. All sounds need to be monaural wav files. The bitrate doesn't matter, unless your system cannot handle the added load.
  6. The missiles will not completely stay inside their launch canisters if you do that, and it looks cheap 'n cheesy ...I mean, you are using real as opposed to virtual, invisible missiles, right? The other drawback with that method, is that you wind up with jittery Kashtans, that appear to seriously need to cut back on their caffeine intake. Setting the guns to a shorter range doesn't appear to help, either.
  7. Youtube video of Kresta II and Ulyanovsk under attack:
  8. The most effective "anti-cruise missile" defense I've seen in-game yet, is, interestingly enough, the 57 mm AK-725 turrets on the Kresta II cruisers. They have the range, and the accuracy to nail ASMs at medium ranges. In real Life, that particular weapons' system was found lacking in that area, most likely due to poor interfacing bewteen the turret and its fire-control radar. It failed to stop an ASM that was accidentally fired against a Soviet Corvette, resulting in casualties. The Kashtans are OK against cruise missiles at long range (when using its Kortik SAMs). At shorter ranges, however, the game engine somehow gets confused when choosing between missile and gun mode, causing the gun-barrels to stay elevated somewhat above the flight-path of most surface skimming missiles. The AK-630 turrets don't have that issue.
  9. The Ulyanavosk and the Kresta II.
  10. Two models getting close to re-release
  11. I agree with Orsin....there are way too many mediocre models out there, that have poor, low-poly lods, horrible texture mapping, (etc). Also, anything released now should at least use bump mapping, and preferably, specular mapping as well. Way too many focus on quantity...and their efforts suffer as a result.
  12. And I just knocked half a wing off of a Tu-95 with one sidewinder
  13. Unfortunately, it does fall into the catagory of old news. We've had WEP for some time, now.
  14. Do the rotors have a fold animation? If so, where they modified as per the March 2012 parameters?
  15. Well, add the following line to its "weaponsystem" section and find out: MissileDefense=TRUE. I believe however, that it will only work against cruise missiles.
  16. Making sure the oil gets through...
  17. Admin help required

PM me with the link to the file you want removed.
  18. That sounds as if there is either a version uncompatibilty, or a missing file. I wager that it's the latter. Post the issue on Thirdwire's site, and the devs there should be able to diagnose it and suggest a solution.
  19. Silverbolt's Birthday!

    Happy Birthday!
  20. Experimenting with the "detachnode" statement, while updating the Ulyanovsk to SF2:NA standards (note the missing planes and tractors in the second image).
  21. 100 years ago tonight

Tonight will mark the 100th anniversary of the Titanic sinking. Titanic struck the iceburg sometime around 11:40 PM local time (9:40 US Eastern time), and sank at 2:20 local time, on the morning of the 15th.
  22. It has to be extracted from the flightdata.cat, and then placed in the flight folder, prior to editing.
  23. New Arrival!

    Congrats!
  24. EPIC!

LOL....I got a real kick out of flight crews watching training films on a Beta-format VCR. It really dates the film.
