Holy crap! Lucky that it held together. Look at the creases in the airframe, just aft of the wingbox!

MiG-17 Gunsight
Fubar512 replied to jjddoo's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Michael, the term in English is lead computing. To emulate the Fresco's ASP-4N Sneg (Snow) radar gunsight, add the following lines to the MiG-17A or F avionics.ini (you may have to create one): [AvionicsData] Name=ASP-4N Sneg GunsightRangingOnly=FALSE RangeUnit=Meters TrackRange=2800.0 ScanBeamAngle=10.0 MinAltitude=1828.8 In MiG-17A or F cockpit.ini: [GunsightFront] HasGunsight=TRUE GunsightMilSize=50 GunsightName=XXX.tga AGGunsightName=XXX.tga LeadComputing=TRUE MinLeadRange=213.36 MaxLeadRange=2743.2 DefaultLeadRange=300 MaxDepression=250 DefaultDepression=50 I don't know if all those "extra" parameters are present in SFP1 avionics code with the 2008 patch. They are present in SF2, however -

His parents should sue the crap out of the league, and their idiot officials. What's the point of team sports anyhow? He is setting an example for the other members of the league to aspire to.

Just came back from watching Killer Elite at the local cinema, and thought I'd let you all know that it is definitely worth watching. Great, believable, edge of the seat action, minimal political BS (by today's standards, anyhow), and a fantastic story line. Jason Statham and Clive Owen were more than up to the task, and Robert De Niro's role (though somewhat minimal) was memorable.

Figured I'd clear the air, as I'm also of the opinion that most remakes blow goats

It has nothing to do with "The Killer Elite", which was the working title of the 1970's film. Killer Elite may (or may not ) be based on fact, and takes place during the early 1980s: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Feather_Men

Rumor has it that the AIM-9X has signature recognition, so flares will not spoof it.

I live in a smallish town (population 1,500), in an apartment complex that's literally surrounded by stables and small farms. Moved here from the city almost six years ago, and have not had a moment's regret.

Very nice A tip, if you don't mind: try bump-mapping your models....it make's quite a difference in the model's appearance under DX10. -
Need help with missile parameters
Fubar512 replied to tiopilotos's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Most IRMs have a fairly narrow FOV (the R-73, for example, has a 2.5 degree field of view), and a fairly wide gimbel limit, often in excess of 70 degrees, off-boresight. In real life, a wide FOV would compromise the missile's performance, making it much more susceptible to counter measures, or even environmental factors (the sun, the ground, etc) Track rate is likewise of great importance, and is measured in degrees per second. A missile with a slow track rate, may miss when a target performs a violent maneuver that exceeds the seeker head's ability to slew it's optical window (or radar receiver), fast enough to follow that target. In game, allowances must often be made to enable or emulate real-world performance, such as increased FOVs and Gimbel limits on vertically launched SAMs, and wide FOVs to emulate a helmet mounted sight, or an IRST system. -
It happens only when there's a load on the lift surfaces (as opposed to when flying straight and level)? If so, I'd look at errors in the Ymac values, first. All lift surfaces on the left side of the aircraft must have negative values (for example, left inner wing Ymac=-1.7, right inner wing Ymac=1.7). If that's not the case, post your engine values....the problem may be due to the thrust angles or the thrust position not being correct.

http://www.reuters.com/article/2011/09/22/science-light-idUSL5E7KM4CW20110922 Finding could overturn laws of physics Scientists confident measurements correct By Robert Evans GENEVA, Sept 22 (Reuters) - An international team of scientists said on Thursday they had recorded sub-atomic particles travelling faster than light -- a finding that could overturn one of Einstein's long-accepted fundamental laws of the universe. Antonio Ereditato, spokesman for the researchers, told Reuters that measurements taken over three years showed neutrinos pumped from CERN near Geneva to Gran Sasso in Italy had arrived 60 nanoseconds quicker than light would have done. "We have high confidence in our results. We have checked and rechecked for anything that could have distorted our measurements but we found nothing," he said. "We now want colleagues to check them independently." If confirmed, the discovery would undermine Albert Einstein's 1905 theory of special relativity, which says that the speed of light is a "cosmic constant" and that nothing in the universe can travel faster. That assertion, which has withstood over a century of testing, is one of the key elements of the so-called Standard Model of physics, which attempts to describe the way the universe and everything in it works. The totally unexpected finding emerged from research by a physicists working on an experiment dubbed OPERA run jointly by the CERN particle research centre near Geneva and the Gran Sasso Laboratory in central Italy. A total of 15,000 beams of neutrinos -- tiny particles that pervade the cosmos -- were fired over a period of 3 years from CERN towards Gran Sasso 730 (500 miles) km away, where they were picked up by giant detectors. Light would have covered the distance in around 2.4 thousandths of a second, but the neutrinos took 60 nanoseconds -- or 60 billionths of a second -- less than light beams would have taken. "It is a tiny difference," said Ereditato, who also works at Berne University in Switzerland, "but conceptually it is incredibly important. The finding is so startling that, for the moment, everybody should be very prudent." Ereditato declined to speculate on what it might mean if other physicists, who will be officially informed of the discovery at a meeting in CERN on Friday, found that OPERA's measurements were correct. "I just don't want to think of the implications," he told Reuters. "We are scientists and work with what we know." Much science-fiction literature is based on the idea that, if the light-speed barrier can be overcome, time travel might theoretically become possible. The existence of the neutrino, an elementary sub-atomic particle with a tiny amount of mass created in radioactive decay or in nuclear reactions such as those in the Sun, was first confirmed in 1934, but it still mystifies researchers. It can pass through most matter undetected, even over long distances, and without being affected. Millions pass through the human body every day, scientists say. To reach Gran Sasso, the neutrinos pushed out from a special installation at CERN -- also home to the Large Hadron Collider probing the origins of the universe -- have to pass through water, air and rock. The underground Italian laboratory, some 120 km (75 miles) to the south of Rome, is the largest of its type in the world for particle physics and cosmic research. Around 750 scientists from 22 different countries work there, attracted by the possibility of staging experiments in its three massive halls, protected from cosmic rays by some 1,400 metres (4,200 feet) of rock overhead.

Unfortunately, any new models are likley to be second gen (SF2) only versions. -
Only really enjoy TOS, especially the digitally remastered ones (they go a long way towards curing the not so-quaint special effects "cheesiness" of TOS). I saw practically all of the Voyager series at an assigment I once had, where I worked the overnight shift. My lunch hour coincided with reruns of STV being shown on one of the cable networks, and since I was the only person onsite at that hour, I was free to set the cafeteria TV to whatever channel struck my fancy.

Windows 2000 started shipping in the late Autumn of 1999 (December 15, to be precise) and Windows XP, in August of 2001. Vista didn't arrive on the scene until January of 2007. I was involved in a good number of system deployments during that period, and from personal experience, I can say that it took about a year for Windows 2000 to be fully accepted by the business community (well into the Spring of 2001). And, I was still rolling out XP, as a new OS, more than two years after its release date (Well into 2004). Vista never really caught on with enterprise clients, so one often encounters a gap between Win XP and Win 7 systems in business environments.

In your options.ini, under the folowing headers, make sure that you're using the correct path: [Mods] ModsEnabled=TRUE Directory=Correct Path Editors=StrikeFighters2 [screenShots] Directory=Correct Path Format=JPG In regards to having multiple mod files, yes you can do that, but it's only necessary if you wish to maintain a separate, historically accurate mod folder for each title. For example, one might wish to limit aircraft and ground objects in SF2V or SF2I to only those that were historically available to either side in that theater. -
Hardware Spec to run SF series

That depends on terrain or shader density. This is from SF2 (Windows 7 under DX10), with a custom water shader and water normal map. water.wmv
