Icarus999 replied to serverandenforcer's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
PM LCountach, he did the updated flight mod for the AH-1W over at Capuns site. I have heard that it is a great flight model. -

Kinda feel's like running into a group of the guys you work with while walking your wife's poodle "fluffy" doesn't it. - just kidding your super bug is looking superb. I have a love hate relationship with the hornet. It's a superb knife range dogfighter and one hell of a light attack platform but it had no business replacing the F-14 or the f-4S as a fleet defender. It is a joy to fly but then so is the A-4.... Love....hate....love ...hate.... -

Anyone noticed this post by TK...?

Jarhead, you contributed to the D.S. mod you made the red side playable... you created something and shared it here... thus you have paid your own way. Second I would never question the honor of a U.S. Marine, your service makes it possible for all of us to enjoy the freedom our constitution guarantees. I apologize if my words offended you. -
Point of Interest To the Thirdwire Community
Icarus999 replied to Dave's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
The guy is clearly a jackass, lashing out at the mod team because deep inside he resents the fact that others have created something of worth. He has no appreciation for the countless hours of work it takes to create anything that is good out of nothing. It's also pretty clear that he does not care that it costs money to operate this site and that that money has to come from somewhere. "I Want.. I WANT so put it in my hand!!!!" P.S. the desert storm mod is with out a doubt the best upgrade to this series you guys totally out did yourselves. It makes me wonder if the guy in question did the complete stand alone install or if he pieced it together and hosed it up -

These modifications could and should be third wire payware expansion packs ... I tried to bring that up over there but I don't think TK quite understood what I was trying to say. p.s. As I said before there are a lot of honor less scumbags out there who will not pay their way unless they are forced to. Perhaps it is time require noobs to subscribe if they want to download.. -
They should do a prequel instead of a sequel, any serious commitment the Navy had to ACM died with the Tomcat. Honestly the mid eighties was the most exiting time at top gun, with the wide variety of aircraft participating both as aggressors and fleet/reserve aircraft. Now days Naval DACT it is just a bug convention with the occasional harrier or perhaps an air force squadron or two thrown into the mix.

That was freaking Awesome!!! It's funny that here at a flight sim site I find a lot of people who share a taste for the same types of obscure progressive metal.

First off Museli Thank you For your Service, veterans and especially disabled veterans belong at the front of the employment line. We have idiots here in the united states who share the same self righteous, bigoted views as some of your countrymen... they feel threatened by the presence men who had bigger balls, who were willing to give up life and limb for what they believed in, men who actually have a spine, men who are still....men. Wishing you great success at your new job.

Is there any way to make weather more seasonal ?
Icarus999 replied to Gunrunner's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Gunrunner you and I are in agreement the game should be updated to include seasonal "inclement" weather meaning both rain and snow as well as lightning . Its probably just a matter of letting TK know that people would like to see it in an update. Also HHF has a great point point too we need a ton of new destroyable objects/buildings. -
Enemy Skill Level

DS Mod Goodies
Icarus999 replied to Dave's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
A million thanks to everyone involved with creating this mod. Really its like having a new title in the series I have only taken a couple of aircraft for a quick spin but I am totally blown away with what I have seen. Huge surprise on firing it up and seeing the F-117 after all the talk about how Marcello had not finished it. Great new aircraft / objects /skins Awesome terrain, water shader effects, new audio/radio chatter are what i noticed in those quick flights. This is an outstanding mod. -

column 5's post over there was classic, nice touch. -
I run 64 bit visa on one of my computers once I got past the learning curve absolutely love it There are some tricks to get it to run more like xp . Honestly my vista rig is the most stable machine I have ever had. In the beginning before I learned where to put files that I would need to modify(like all my third wire stuff) the security features pissed me off to no end. Once I learned to put my installs in my user folder i had no more problems.

SymphonyX.... wow now that's an amazing band. I really respect guys like that who have the dedication to push themselves to this level as a unit. Intricate progressive speed metal bands require so much hard work just to meet the "bar" that very few people actually are willing to put forth the effort for any length of time. Yeah every body seems to think they can play to the level it takes to do this well...until they actually try, and then reality sets in - this is serious work- and to do it you are going to have to make a lot of sacrifices. I play extreme prog metal and I can tell you from personal experience how hard it is to keep a band together when the work aspect dominates the fun aspect. For prog metal musicians working with singers is enough to make you insane. You spend years writing these elaborate songs, then you bring in a singer who tells you he want's to chop up your song and make five different songs out of it... nor does he want to push himself like the rest of the band ...just sorta wants to do what comes natural. Yeah .... bands like Dream Theater or symphonyX just freaking amaze me, and these guys do it for the love of the music because they cant be making much money in the prog genera after all the expenses are paid. That's the reason Derrik Roddy quit turing with Hate Eternal... to work so hard, record the albums, tour non stop and when all expenses are paid he had "dik" to show for it.

Since we're showing terrain WIPs...
Icarus999 replied to Wrench's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
This is really looking great, I was wondering if it is possible to mix tiles and tree types in certain areas of the map... the region between of the santa cruz mountains between Los Gatos and Santacruz is a great example of transition that fades from from desert sage brush with scattered oaks into a lush canopy of bay trees around springs and drainage's then into thick pine and redwood rain forests for miles and then back to sage country again. This type of contrast would be great to highlight the vast difference's in terrain found in California.
