This is Interesting,and very much needed. what do you guys think about having a sticky thread in the knowledge base where we can list the planes that need to have some attention given to their flight model for use with the new patch, so that C5 or another flight model guru can take a look at them. Some of my favorite aircraft do some funny things with the new patch. I was watching the AI fly the F-106 the other day and it looked like the jet was suspended by a string in its center .... the nose was pointing/jerking all over the place pretty funny stuff. A shame though because it was one of my favorites with the 8/06 patch.

Oh sorry on closer read of your post I see you were talking about the Vietnam era.

They use IR strobe lights rather than flares, I would think that would not be to hard to model as an effect. Nice idea though you always need to know where the good guys are.

It was not as easy as it is in the F-4, I needed more space to bring the nose around but it was doable. The aircraft is awsome but there is one big problem, there is nothing to shoot enemy fighters with, the falcon missile is worthless. So I said the heck with reality lets do what the Air Force should have done in the first place, mount some sidewinder rails .... pulled up the data and added 2IR to the fuel tank attachment points. I then set out to kill some migs and kill I did. Armed with late model sidewinders this thing is a beast, no it is not a nimble dogfighter it is a powerhouse that eats bomber formations with nukes and is capable of suprising their escort.

Absolutely.... the economy of the entire region sucks people are loosing jobs left and right many close friends and co workers have been laid off or worse .... often the tactic used is to give a person a workload far beyond the capability of one person then ramp up the pressure and pile it on until they crack. It is a sneeky way to get rid of a position with out laying some one off.... see if you quit you are not entitled to unemployment insurance and many corporations will go to great lengths to avoid a situation where the employee has a valid claim. So far I have been lucky in that the quality of my work has been recognized at the corporate level ( last year I won our corporations most prestigious award)but things are getting so bad that my entire department may go part time until the economy improves... hell for all we know they might just shut us down for good.

Perhaps my numbers are off but with all of the budget cuts and airframe fatigue I thought we had less than 500 in active duty with 230+ of those being strike eagle ground attack aircraft and maybe another hunded A's and C's in the reserves and ANG. I did not know the f-22 was on the chopping block as we speak.... that the pentagon would want to kill the F-22 in favor of the F-35 seems to be a stupid move, the f-35 may be stealthy and may be a better precision bomber but whan it comes to air combat,( judging from what info is available to the public) the 22 kicks the 35's butt in every category that matters in ACM.

look at how long it has taken us to get a few squadrons of these planes operational, at the current rate if we are lucky, we will be able to afford to replace 1/2 our retiring F-15 fleet with F-22's. Now look at our new president , congress and senate.... then figure in the multi trillion $ bailouts and our rotten economy. I think we had better be on the lookout for some serious military budget cuts, this is one program that we cannot afford to cut. We have in our hands one hell of a revolutionary fighter and we are banking on the superiority of this jet... Believing the few of them we have will handle tasks that would normally call for many more aircraft. I believe that until we fully replace our aging front line fighters /interceptors and the F-22's successor is in production that any talk of exporting the F-22 borders on insanity. The fact that the Navy is not pursuing a carrier capable version of the F-22 blows my mind, if they did the price per copy would probably drop significantly as the limited sales are what is driving the price. Exporting the F-22 would simply lead to reverse engineering, it would be a very foolish move.

Lexx is spot on The F-101B voodoo in its element ( High Altitude high speed slashing attacks) is a monster, its limitation is the pathetic missiles it was saddled with. The f-101B should have carried later model Aim-9 missiles and perhaps even Aim-7 twards the end of its carrer it, such a shame it was neglected in that way. And why on earth was no serious attempt made to upgrade those pathetic Aim-4's into somthing that was actually usable, the Airforce really got ripped off on that missile!!!

Wow Stary!!! that is exelent, it is exactly what I have been looking for, I am really looking forwrd to it's release.

what I have noticed is that the radar search and track strength is weaker than the 2006 patch. Also even though I have bumped it up and can now lock on at the same distances the IN RANGE indicator does not light up until I am much closer than I would be with the older patch. Check out the difference between the stock weapons and the weapons packs- with the stock third wire Aim-7M the "in range"indicator lights up at something like 34 miles while with the bunyap pack it is about 24. IF you are using the stock migs look at their detect distance.... what used to be ( for example) 8400 is now 840. add a few 0's to that and your bvr game will get a lot better

Yeah... you are right about that, what I meant to say is the buildings within the terrain are very high quality and there is a lot of variation in building types, that is one aspect i would like to see in our terrains.

Ok... i know this may sound strange but wouldn't it be funny if this bird had an appropriate Pilot... perhaps Mahmoud Ahmadinejad himself. Not to take away from the brilliant work on this cool little fighter but I can just picture the little tool flying around in the blue and yellow painted prototype like a Blue angel wannabe while screaming "death to America". The idea of an intercept mission, pulling up on his plane and seeing a ridiculous photoshoped image of him at the controls, and then the satisfaction of turning that nut job into fireball, it's just irresistible.
