What do you think is missing from this sim?
Icarus999 replied to scouserlad13's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I love the new AI as far as dogfighting and Bvr missile capability. This is a huge improvement in my book. the AI as far as ground attack seems to have some problems with the new patch- CAS, SEAD, Armed recon, missions are now having issues with AI use of LGB's and some other weapons. i think this has to do with the new launch parameters set up with the new patch. while the AI may have been releasing the guided weapons out side of realistic parameters with the old patch, at least the weapons were released .... and hit their targets much of the time. With the new patch CAS- SEAD-and armed recon AI missions with LGB's Behave the way strike used to with the old patch... no weapons release. And I am with you on the older third wire sky i like it much better. I hope that as some of our more knowlageable modders figure out the ins and outs of the latest patch that we may be able to modify these troublesome issues by importing files from old to new or vice versa. I really thank T.K. for the work he puts into bringing the older titles up to date, the fact that he takes time out of his life to support us at no charge is outstanding so i am not going to bitch about the things that broke with the new patch. I think that if there are features that we all would like to see in these games we should let T.K. know what we want and then pony up and pay the man for building an upgreade to the series. If we are not paying our way then we cannot really complain if he overlooks something that messes up what we liked in the previous patch. lets not look a gift horse in the mouth... lets put our money where our mouth is. I don't know about the rest of you but i would pay 40 or 50 bucks for an add on to the game that brings the weapons capability of the game more up to date. i am not talking about Lock on or F4 style ultra realism, I am talking about the same type of " lite sim" but with a few modern additions like realistic cruise missile performance, the ability to use loiter missiles lite the tacit rainbow, the ability to have ships with multiple missile launchers ships and that launch harpoon or tomahawk missiles . AI Aircraft that use guided weapons well no matter what type of ground attack category is selected for them. friendly bases that are well defended by multipe types of SAMs The ability to target missiles with other missiles such as AHM/SAHM vs cruise missile, or patriot missiles targeting scuds. or how about a way to model helmet mounted aiming systems- using Trackir. Pesonally I would pay more than 50 bucks to have those features added to the game, maybe it is worth bringing it up in a thread over at third wire. -
The Vtas hemet in 3rd or 4th generation model configuration ( not sure wich one ) was used well into the eighties, the navy used it exclusivly with the last of the F-4 phantoms - F-4S, F-4N, and the F-4J. The final version of the Vtas was considered to be much inproved, over the original and while not perfect It gave the F-4 crews that used it some distinct advantages. Makes me wonder if it could be modded into the game utilizing Trackir , perhaps by modding the so called hud at the top right hand corner of the screen- or should i say replacing it- with a circle and bead sight that tracks head/mouse movement. If this could be done as a starting point, think of the possibilities... AH-64??? modern hemet systems with the Aim-9X?? perhaps a better way to simmulate the AC-130, meaning to be able to fly it in a 30 degree bank around a target and fire the guns at the target with any sort of accuracy. ..... just a thought.

Help with static aircarft
Icarus999 replied to scouserlad13's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
It's been a while since I looked at that pack but I am pretty sure it is like the others... meaning you will have to build missions and place the aircraft on the maps with a mission editor. -
More aircraft but own loadout in missions
Icarus999 replied to vulkan's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Hey thanks Wrench, For some reason I have totally overlooked that dropdown until now( puts on dunce cap and faces corner of room), this is a really good tool for problem solving. Flying strike and need an escort... no problem, select and arm flight 2 accordingly. want to bring a couple of f-4G's allong to take care of the SAM sites... no problem. -

Hang on a second here, how do you fly a TU-95 but select an SU-27 as your wingman. Am I missing something here? Is this a mod I do not know about? this makes no sense to me .... can anyone shed some light on this? -

First off are you talking about the loadout ini found inside the migs folder or are you talking about the loadout screen? secondly simply changing the name of the folder wont work you will have to change the names of all of the files in the folder and any instance of the migs type that points to another file. Third you should do some reserch on how the game works before you start mixing and matching files. It sounds to me like you have not added a weapons pack yet, if not you should do that. The Mirage factory has better models but the bunyap pack is very good and if you like russian/ eastern block weapons it is the one to have... then later you can add the Mirage factory weapons to it. you will also need the new weapons editor get it at third wires site. If I were you I would just go over to Column5's site and download the Mig-23MLD-K . if I remember correctly the migs at column5's site have the nato code AA # system, look at the loadouts, they will be different designations with the mirage factory(AA-whatever) and the bunyap packs(R-whatever) as one uses russian design bureau and the other NATO/ US code designations. If chaff and flares are added correctly the AI will use them, and the missiles will fail if they are not launched within the propper parameters.... these 2 issues make me think that you have messed with files that should not have been altered. Check out the knowlage base. Good luck -

The Amero is part of the proposed North American Union, it is a merging of the monitary systems of the United states, Mexico and Canada. It is a raw deal for all three nations, it will destroy the middle class. This is not some B.S. theory, the North American Union serious attack on the principals of national sovergnty, funded by multinational corperations/banking intrests. Globalists within the U.S. government have created propaganda website to combat those who are exposing their adjenda on the web and in the media. Educate yourself about this now because if you thought Nafta and Gatt were bad this is much much worse. -north american union link-

Highly interesting: Red Flag lecture
Icarus999 replied to Brain32's topic in Military and General Aviation
What a world we live in. These are fighter pilots.... warriors they use their failures as a learning tool, I really dont think they have any hurt feelings over their training experience at Red flag. If anything they are thanking our guys for pointing out week areas they need to improve on, because they know the second place prize in combat is death. I think the real issue with that video had nothing to do with India, he was far more critical of another countries performance while fighting ( my word not his) beside us in actual warfare.. -

Icarus999 replied to Spectre_USA's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Thank you Spectre, I was inspired by Lexx Luther to do a modern day equivalent of his strategic air war simulation concept, in this mission waves of Tu-22's, Badgers, Bears, Mig 27's Su-22's and Q-5's are inbound escorted by Mig -29's, Mig 23mk's, Mig-25's Mig-31's, SU-15's, Su-27s at altitude while Mig 21's, upgraded Mig-17s, and Mig 19z's CAP the rout at lower altitudes. the friendly intercept force includes f-14A, f-14D, F-15C, F-16ADC, F-4S, F-4E+, F-4N, F-106A, F-18A, Sea Harrier and just for fun the f-8j in Gocads low vis skin. the counter strike force contains B-52, f-111F, F-15E, F-4D, Tornado- so far and the list is growing as spare time permits this is a work in progress.. Yes i have taken a little liberty with operational dates, but i wanted to get all of my favorite types into a what if mission. -

QUOTE (whiteknight06604 @ Nov 21 2008, 06:03 PM) * you hit the nail right on the head.No matter who is responsible or what happened now after a death the family thinks "closeure" means pointing blame and to asign blame nowadays means money.Nothing is ever just an accident these days someone always has to be blamed for the survivours to get on with there lives. It dosn't matter how many people lose their jobs or how many companies or doctors have to close shop somone has to be held acountable even if no one truley is to blam. Quote Jug "This fits in a unique category of the worst post ever here at CA." I have to disagree Jug, I believe whiteknight06604 is correct. Years ago the family would have dealt with the tragedy without a lawsuit. The websites owner has no responsibility to protect this unfortunate kid from himself, and the idea that a websites owner should be forced to monitor all activity 24-7 is draconian. The United States federal government has been looking for a reason to crack down on the operators of political sites that are critical of corrupt government officials, this is just the kind of emotionally driven"We have got to do something" moment that they have been looking for to scare people into giving them more regulatory power. It really is sick and sad however that people would knowingly taunt someone into suicide and disturbing how little respect many young people have for human life.

Evading SAM & Air to Air Missles
Icarus999 replied to TheStig's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I highly recomend you add chaff, flares and ECM to any combat aircraft operating in the 70's or later. Check out the knowlage base. If you still have trouble P.M. me and I will show you how. -
Very sweet Dave!!! I bought a 37" 1920x1080p monitor several months ago and really love it, the best thing i have done for my gaming yet. The new generation of fps like Far cry 2 or last years Crysis look and play amazing on it, and you can actually see everyone who is trying to shoot you.

The discovery channel debunking was bunk, it has been analized several times and found to be flawed. None of us want to belive what we are foced to come to terms with when we realize oswald was not who they say he was, he was involved but there is much more to his story than we have been told. Every item related to the evidence in this case has been destroyed or corrupted, to belive that a group of powerfull people did not conspire to kill this man is to bury ones head in the sand. It is easy to present a diagram to fool those who do not fully understand ballistics and tactics with junk science, the crockumentary in question only delt with the issues of the warren commission vs the grassy knoll, the areas where your attention was drawn were not the locations that the shots were fired from. If you go to the crime scene and stand on the x you will see three perfect sniper positions that allow a team to set up and take the shots, 2 of them with out hitting the windshield.... however the windshield was hit. You will also notice that the book depository presents a crappy angling away shot on a moving target. look beyond houston street to the dal-tex building and you will find a much more professional shot. the 6.5 Mannlicher carcano is a pathetic cartrige that is incapable of producing the wounds that were demonsrated on the body of president kenedy. The projectile recoverd was from the standard military ball style loading of the 6.5 carcano. this ammo very rarlely exeded 2100 feet per second at the muzzle and often failed to break the 2000 fps mark. todays better powders are allowing that cartrige to achive 2200 fps with a 160 grain bullet. "magic bullet projectile " a 160 grain full metal jacket bullet is a projectile that has a tremendusly high sectional density- it is very long for its diameter. what this means is that it will penatrate extremly well, the fact that it is has a full metal jacket bullet will increse the penetraton factor further, then we take into account the low muzzle velocity of around 2000 fps- this low velocity further adds to the penetration factor. Now this bullet is going to have no problem plowing through three or even four men, but if hits any large bone it is going to show deformation. What it is not going to do is act like a hunting bullet and mushroom back apon its shank. Depending on how many bones it hits its nose will be deformed and it may flatten on one side if it begins to yaw sideways. Bullets of extreme sectional density that are not designed to expand , and are fired from a rifle with the correct fast twist barrel - like the caracano -will zip right on through like a pencil only the largest bones will cause them to yaw and tumble. the recovered magic bullet was pristeen, the only deformations on it were the rifling marks- this alone destroys the official story - if that bullet with all of the atributtes of penetration listed above was forced to a stop whithin the bodies of 2 men and a car seat, then the forces at work on that bullet( bones/ metal) were tremendous. This bullet would have been seriously deformed. point 2 the only ways to get the explosive effect seen on the kenedy headshot are: 1- extremly high muzzle velocity 3100 fps+ with an expanding projectile. 2 - A hyper velocity cartrige 4000 fps with almost any projectile. 3-to a lesser degree of destruction -a moderate velocity cartrige like the 30/30 with a lightly constructed bullet of very low sectional density - a bullet with an exploding core - these were manufactured for professional assasinations and were part of our CIA's arsenal, the KGB, and others. expolosive core bullets did not rely on velocity and were often deployed from handguns. the 6.5 caracano with 160 gr ball ammo could not create the hydrostatic shock required explode kenedys head with the kind of violence of impact the shot demonstrated. - this 2nd point also destroys the official story. The weapon found in the school book depository by dallas police was a 7.65 Mauser, three spent 6.5 caracano cartriges were found by the window. the 6.5 cartriges and the 7.65 rifle are incompatible later the FBI was presented with the murder weapon- an actual 6.5 caracano whose scope was so poorly mounted that the rifle /scope combo had to be completly resighted in in order for testing to take place. The part about the that the windshield was not being hit is total bs. Many eye witnesses are on record saying it was hit twice, once cleanly through the shield and once through the frame near the rear view mirror. We are talking about cops and medical professionals who veiwed the vehicle as it arrived at parkland hospital. All of the evidence was destroyed in the limo- it was rebuilt immiediatly this goes beyond suspisious it is criminal. the zapruder film has been edited and many frames were removed before it was released to the public, watch the driver when kenedy is in the kill zone, he turns around twice to look at kenedy. watch how fast he turns around and then turns forward. his movments are physically imposible... they are way too fast.... missing frames. Also look at the scale of the people on the grass in the background behind the limo and compare them with the people in the foreground. I could go on and on and on, but we are not supposed to get political so i won't.

Anti-Ship missiles after oct2008 patch
Icarus999 replied to ravenclaw_007's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Yes , I have the same problem with the October patch. I had created some awesome missions for the 8-06 patched game with waves of AI aircraft - Anti ship - CAS- SEAD and Armed recon that all performed wonderfully with guided bombs and missiles, they would even engage secondary targets, but of course the strike flights were limited to dumb bombs and additionally they would only make one pass drop thier bombs and fly home. Post patch with the same mission some wierd things are going on and I need to look in to it further. I have 3 flights of AI SEAD aircraft which now refuse to use LGB's, an armed recon flight that used to be super aggressive now just flys around in circles. AI anti ship missions are hosed up too. The funny part is that now the AI strike flights that used to be such an annoyance , are engaging targets of oppertunity after they hit their obgective. I have decided that until all of this stuff gets sorted out I will keep an 8-06 install for my mud moving missions and do my dogfighting on another install with the new patch.
