Green Hell 3
lxsapper replied to Stary's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
Hi, First of id like to thank Stary for his work, and for his work in this mod. Now I don't know if I installed it right, I am getting back to SF series and just getting into the 2 series. And I had tried Green Hell back in SFV. I dont remember if I tried Green Hell 2, or just the first incarnation. GH3 is graphically beautifull, but seems to be lacking that huge tree density I remember. I just Loved those Tree Packed Jungles. Am I doing something wrong? Do I have to change some setting? Thank you. -
I am giving away my 2nd copy of OFF BHaH for free
lxsapper replied to grim2's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Well if someone hasn't already gotten ahead of me. I've been waiting for the right moment to grab a copy. But I would be real greatfull to take you up on that offer. I'm in Portugal by the way. Bruno -
Don't have OFF but what you are describing is normal aircraft behavior, if you throtle back you should be able to get a force equilibrium, where you'll maintain level flight, of course this is only usefull for something like cruising. What you would do is use your elevator trim, but I'm not sure those WWI planes had them. If that's the case just keep pushing on the joystick :). Anyway just to further clear that up, the trim, is usually a wheel that controls a sort of control surface of the control surface. By deflecting this small surface on your elevator (or other control surfaces) upwards or downwards in leaser or greater degree, the air flow is going to force your elevator to a certain position, much like the elevator does to the entire plane, Efectivelly doing your corrective push/pulling for you. Of course that's only good for a certain speed/altitude combination and as you manover your airplane will soon be "out of trim" again. In any case it's usefull to keep your plane trimed even when manovering about not just cruising, because it's just so much easier to fly (shoting in particular improves a ton), rudder trim is particulary useful as it helps you not to fly in applying constant pedal preasure just to keep your plane from flying sideways (major speed killer). Just watch the Ball (I do belive most those WWI planes had inclinometers) is it permanetly off centered even in level flight positive G load? Not good. Need to compensate the ruder trim is the way to go. But after all this explanation again I'm not sure those WWI planes had trims so.... like I said before PUSH ;)

Just got new laptop... trying to get TW sims and IL2:1946 working...
lxsapper replied to Rampstrike's topic in General Flight Sim Discussion
can't help you the first one no clue. But as for the second, the game does not suport resolutions other than 4:3 by default, if you were runing it on that resolution on your other laptop you eigher a) edited the game's ini by hand. b) someone did it for you. c) you used the Il-2 config utility avaiable here http://war.by-airforce.com/downloads/il2-config.html. If you are editing by hand or using il-2 config after you select the desired resolution do not forget to set the "maintainaspectratio" line to "=0" or set to unchecked in Il'2 config. Because the game doesn0t truly suport widescreen when doing this you are actually losing vertical FOV instead of gaining horizontal FOV. If you do not uncheck that line what it will do is you will have the same FOV as in 4:3 both vert. and horz. but in your selected resolution, in other words it will be out of porportion. Hope this helps on the IL-2 bit. -
Extract the WOV A7B?

Recommended controllers
lxsapper replied to commander's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
The X-52 twist function can be locked so the stick doen't turn. And within the sim you can reasign any axis you like (eg. the rudder peddals movement) to do that function. -
Extract the WOV A7B?
lxsapper replied to Stratos's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Change the Aircraft folder so it has a unique name such as MY_A-7B, inside that folder change the aircraft .ini (not the data.ini) to that same name MY_A-7B.ini edit that file and change "AircraftFullName=A-7B" to a name that is diferent to the AircraftFullName= of of every plane you have intalled. If memory serves me that's it. -
Actually the C key isn't for cannon. It's for canceling a override mode. check this thread for more details http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?showtopic=28422

Extract the WOV A7B?
lxsapper replied to Stratos's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Ok I checked and sorry for saying objectdata.cab it's .cat as I'm sure you all know. As I had heard WoI inded doed not follow the same path as it's predecessors and it's objectdata.cat only contains the files for the airplanes in WoI. -
Extract the WOV A7B?
lxsapper replied to Stratos's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
I posted this a while back in a couple treads. But eighter no one understands me or no one belives me. but here it goes again. This will work for SFP1 WoV and WoE. I think TK went a diferent path with WoI but haven't checked. I find the easiest way to import airplanes from one game to the other. Is to take The WoE objectdata.cab and replace both the SFP1 and the WoV objectdata.cab(s), this is because (at least in my versions of the game) just as the WoV objectdata.cab contains every file in the SFP1 objectdata.cab and then some, so does the WoE objectdata.cab contains every file contained in the WoV objectdata.cab . There is a size issue but the WoE objectdata.cab is only about 300 Mb and the SFP1 anout 150 Mb so I think its well worth it as it saves you a lot of individual extraction when importing planes from the newer games to the older. Because of what I explained above if you are importing from the older games to the newer you need not extract anything nor replace anyfiles. Think I'm crazy? Well check the files. You will see the WOE objectdata.cab contains indeed the files for the planes that are in both previous games but that are not in WoE. So better yet just try it, take a plane any plane(your A/B for an instance) that is in a previous game but not in WoE, copy the airplane folder to WoE and voilla the plane is working! Oh by the way just as a matter of curiosity the .EXE to all 3 games are also interchangeble... how? The ARE the same game! (Diferent content of course, love them, get 'em all!) -
Bugs in Pacific Fighters?
lxsapper replied to Wasara's topic in IL-2 Series / Pacific Fighters / Cliffs of Dover: General Discussion
Like stratos said this control has to be mapped by the user as by default it is empty. You have to map quite a few empty but very usefull commands or you will never get off the deck of a carrier. For ex. the chocks Key is also not mappef this is always engaged when taking off from a carrier, if I recall correctly wing Fold also has to be mapped as some planes start on the deck with their wings folded, also you have non-esential commands like Open/close cannopy (for a few planes), or raise/lower seat for zero's n' corsairs (I think) but only when the canopy is open. -
Actually I read about this They were shorter ranged missiles. I think. Do you remember that airliner the russians shot down in the 80's? Korean airlines I think. I remember the pilot explaining how he fired two missiles one IR and one Radar in that sequence for that very same reason. The reason they fired two was to increase the PoK. I gess this was they're doctrine back then don't know now a days.

Calling Cockpit makers, need help
lxsapper replied to Stratos's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
The Ckpt Skin can be edited. Needs to be extracted 1st It's Prob more than 1 file. Don't know the results you will get as I know nothing about HDR/Bloom efects and have never messed about with this. -
F-15E V1.3 Radar Problem
lxsapper replied to shawnfergie's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Ok don't know if anyone still following this but after testing my findings were this. The download works fine with WOI but not the other games at their present state. For it work you need to do change mentioned above to the avionic file. Having done that it will work in both WOI and the other games. -
F-15E V1.3 Radar Problem
lxsapper replied to shawnfergie's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Maybe it's the WOE vs WOI thing. It say's in the read me it's ready for both but maybe being ready for one is causing problems in the other? I never messed with the WOI file structure of the avionics and just a bit in WOE. I'm preaty sure that correction I posted above should be needed for present WOE, WOV, SFP1 standards. but I could be wrong, and no Idea about WOI. -
F-15E V1.3 Radar Problem
lxsapper replied to shawnfergie's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Hummm... actually I think the avionics file is broken after all but easily fixed. Maybe you you overlooked this before uploading Dave. [RadarData] AvailableModes=SEARCH,TWS,ACM,GM I think it should be: [RadarData] AvailableModes=SEARCH,TWS,STT,ACM,GM (haven't tested it ingame) -
F-15E V1.3 Radar Problem
lxsapper replied to shawnfergie's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Yes I see what you mean dave. I downloaded the Aircraft to check the avionics and STT is set to work on all 5 range modes. So your problem shawnfergie must be something else. Not sure if replacing the avionics file for the F-15C is the cleanest way to go about this. -
F-15E V1.3 Radar Problem
lxsapper replied to shawnfergie's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Not having checked the download myself. I'm assuming this is in the avionics file. Some Modders designers make the radar on they're aircraft so that they can only use the lock function only works when you have the distance setting of the radar for example (and usually right) set to half the maximum radar range so if the radar has a max range of 160 miles you will only be able to use lock target when operating in 80 mile range setting. So the short answeer it's most likely not broken but working has design. If you don't like it edit the avionics file it's not very hard to figure out what things mean in this regard. -
It should work if you were already in an AA mode if not hit twice. Also make sure you are not in eighter MRM or DGFT overide modes. C key to cancel eighter of this out. (no cockpit button HOTAS function only).

Change weapon files
lxsapper replied to Wraith27's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
This is really out of my league so my answer can be tottaly wrong but from my experiments I belive the LOD file points to a texture file and that cannot be changed it's probably something writen since it was a MAX file and because you cannot edit lods you cannot change the name of the texture (BMP) file it's pointing to. Exept maybe with an HEX editor... but that's just me gessing. -
