[Fictional] Mikoyan-Gurevich-Hawker Falchion F.Mk1 for SF2
Spinners replied to Spinners's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
I thought I'd solved the problem about porting over the older Third Wire stuff into SF2 by converting the ini's into unicode and tried the WOE Harrier GR.1 as my guinea pig but no joy. Even worse, it caused a total system crash (not a CTD - a complete lock-up). -

Cracked it! The ini's need to be saved as ANSI format. -

There must be something in my Falchion download that is in unicode perhaps? -

Curiously, the Mig-15bis uses the A-4b pit but the MiG-15bis cockpit folder simply contains the A-4b_sight.tga. Putting that in the Falchion and altering the .ini to read CockpitDataFile=A-4B_cockpit.ini still doesn't make it work . -

Could be that you need to simply copy and insert the true WOE Hunter Cockpit folder to replace the folder in my version. The folder I've used has the A-4B sight in it which I don't think is in WOE. -

Most odd. I haven't got WOE installed at the moment but there really isn't any reason why it shouldn't fire up is there? -

Hugely enjoyable! Did an armed recce mission (one of those where there is 30-40 trucks in the convoy) and downed two MiG-15's. Nice work on the details - fuel tanks, pilot, Hangar and Loading Screen. A great little package. Chapeau! -
THIRD WIRE FEATURES

I love it the way it is but, if pushed, I'd like better clouds - like the excellent widesky mod. To be fair to TK, there are some nice clouds in SF2 but there are also those cartoon type clouds too (which always remind me of Wily Coyote and the RoadRunner - meep meep). -
Was thinking of doing this....

As my SF2 install is alive with 'what ifs' I often come across Friendly types in 'enemy' service and can remember having a fantastic scrap with Polish Lightnings (jets not props) that lasted for ages and ages. -
Aircraft file problem
Spinners replied to warthog64's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
When opening a compressed file I like to extract it to a folder on my desktop (I call mine The Extract Hanger lol) and then just open it up and see what's contained therein and move the actual aircraft folder into my game. This avoids the folder in a folder problem. -

Mig-29 Centreline Fuel Tank for SF2
Spinners posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - File Announcements
File Name: Mig-29 Centreline Fuel Tank for SF2 File Submitter: Spinners File Submitted: 11 Mar 2009 File Category: SF/WO*/FE Weapons Mods/Skins This is for the new MiG-29 by The Mirage Factory and gives you the centreline tank. This might not have been the most elegant way of getting it to show but it works. In the data.ini find your centreline station (should be right at the top of the weapon stations) and amend the last line to read as follows; [CenterLine] SystemType=WEAPON_STATION StationID=1 StationGroupID=1 StationType=EXTERNAL AttachmentPosition=0,-2.900,0.04 AttachmentAngles=0.0,0.0,0.0 EjectVelocity=0.0,-2.0,-2.0 LoadLimit=550.0 AllowedWeaponClass=FT AttachmentType=WP ModelNodeName= PylonMass= PylonDragArea= FuelTankName=Mig-29_CFT Just drop the folder into your weapons folder (you might need to create one if you haven't added any weapons yet) and you'll need to amend this line in the data.ini although I'd also amend the loadout.ini as well to save having to add it to your wingman, flight or squadron. Change of plan. I'll upload it for the benefit of everyone who has SF2 (it's awaiting permission). Just drop the folder into your weapons folder (you might need to create one if you haven't added any weapons yet) and you'll need to amend one line in the data.ini although I'd also amend the loadout.ini as well to save having to add it to your wingman, flight or squadron. -

Yes. It took me a while to get the centreline tank, and I think I did it the long way around, but I got there in the end. I'll try to send it to you. -

Nice link - I hadn't realised the difference between the one and two syllable names (propellers and jets). -

ktickner6767 - The guys have invested some serious game-playing time with you already so don't let them down! It's easier than you think and if I can do it anybody can.
