Some decals and standards not appears in SF2?
Spinners replied to AGOSTINO's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
(This is one option) With SF2 you can create a decals folder (inside your objects folder) and just put them in there. Your decal.ini will then just need to point to the decal [Decal001] MeshName=Tail DecalLevel=0 DecalFacing=LEFT FilenameFormat=8RoundelBars Position=-3.800,0.000 Scale=2.5 DecalMaxLOD=4 -

F-104G Starfighter of No.331 Squadron of the Royal Norwegian Air Force seen at low-level during a deployment to Dhimar as part of the UN coalition forces in 1969. Interesting stuff; http://www.starfighter.no/web/life331.html I ported over the F-104G from WOV to SF2 this afternoon and was looking for a suitable skin and hgbn's superb RNAF fitted the bill nicely! -

Has anyone done a Buccaneer for tw sims?
Spinners replied to Hokum's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
(Warning: This post contains cliches) Having a Buccaneer of any description will be fantastic and having three S.2 variants is the icing on the cake. I'm over the moon! I'd like to thank Russo for his generosity and also thank everyone at the GMG for picking up the ball and running with it. Superb teamwork! Incidentally, there was some strong West German interest in the Buccaneer and I've heard it said that it was the UK governments lack of interest in further development of the Buccaneer that put the Bonn government off. I guess I'm hinting that the GMG would be quite entitled to do a Marineflieger 'what if' that actually has an air of authenticity. -

Dhimari Hunter FGA. Mark 61 (FGA.9) for SF1
Spinners posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - File Announcements
View File Dhimari Hunter FGA. Mark 61 (FGA.9) for SF1 Hawker Hunter FGA.61 for STRIKE FIGHTERS 1 This is a simple mod of the stock Hunter FGA.9 to give a 'what if' Hunter FGA.61 fighter with markings for No.1 and No.3 squadrons of the Dhimari Air Force. Please note that this mod is optimised for use in 'Wings Over Israel' and it will NOT work in 'Strike Fighters Gold' or 'Wings Over Vietnam' as neither game has the Hunter FGA.9 LOD's. It will work in 'Wings Over Europe' but you will not have the stock Arabic serial numbers appearing. INSTRUCTIONS 1. From the AIRCRAFT folder drag and drop the HunterFGA61 folder into your Aircraft folder. That's it! CREDITS Thanks to TK for a great little game/sim. And thanks to everyone in the wider Third Wire community. Regards Spinners Version 2 - 07/04/18 Version 1 - 26/03/09 Submitter Spinners Submitted 03/26/2009 Category British Aircraft -

Spinners replied to Hokum's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
I can clearly remember seeing film clips of the Buccaneer during Red Flag with commentry by incredulous USAF bods who just couldn't believe what they were seeing. This was shown on the BBC 1 'Nationwide' programme in 1977 (give or take a year or two). -

RAF Hunter F.5 for Strike Fighters 2
Spinners posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - File Announcements
File Name: RAF Hunter F.5 for Strike Fighters 2 File Submitter: Spinners File Submitted: 22 Mar 2009 File Updated: 16 May 2010 File Category: SF2 Series Add On Aircraft This is a simple mod of the excellent Third Wire Hunter to give a flyable F.5 with markings for No.34 and No.56 squadrons of RAF Middle East Command based in Dhimar during the mid to late 1950's. Whilst both squadrons did actually operate the Hunter F.5 the markings for No.56 squadron are slightly 'generic' but the serial numbers are genuine enough. Two extra No.34 decals are included (34Patch and 34RoundelBars) if you prefer that squadron to have the same look as No.56 squadron and/or for you to use elsewhere. Thanks guys! I've just extracted the terrain from WOI (using the new Cat Pack tool) and plonked it into SF2 simply by creating a Terrains folder and placing it in there. -

RAF Hunter F.5 for Strike Fighters 2
Spinners replied to Spinners's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - File Announcements
No problem mate. It had a short life (1956-1958) didn't it? The Sapphire Hunters were generally regarded as being better than the Avon equivalents but the only explanation I've ever seen about their early demise is that the RAF wanted to standardise on the one engine type for their Hunter fleet. I'm not too sure about that. -

MIRAGE IVA WIP UPDATE
Spinners replied to Veltro2k's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
BTW following the cancellation of the TSR.2 in 1964 Dassault and BAC teamed up to offer the Spey-Mirage IV to the RAF. I'm not sure who was lukewarm to the idea the RAF or the UK Government but it would have been a useful strike/recce aircraft or did things turn out for the best (Buccaneer and Tornado)? Anti-flash white anyone? Or a Falklands 'Black Buck'?
